I'll tell you one thing, Hackman and Spacy have nothing on Rosembaum in the Lex department.:word:

but Rosenbaum has nothing on John shea in the luthor department [even though Rosenbaum is essentially playing the same Lex as shea did] But since smallville Lex is based on Lois and Clark's version that makes sense.

I agree, I actually like Shea and Rosembaum's Lex about the same. Both of them played the part awsomely. I love the evil, businessman, calculating Lex much better than silly, cornball, real estate driven Lex.:whatever: :p

It was gorgeous! If anyone can get a screencap of it, I would make it my new background. ;)

Loved how Clark easily took care of the FOTW. Reminded me of some fights in the comics that are played for laughs at how quickly Superman disposes of some oneshot villain who wants to play king of the mountain in Metropolis.

SV's Lex isnt based on Lois and Clark's. It's based on the post crisis comics. Millar and Gough stop just sort of laughing anytime someone even mentions L&C to them.

Anybody know the reasons Subterranean got pushed back? Was it budgetary, story wise? Don't really feel like scrolling back through the thread to find out.

They said it was something to do with production, but I dont think we'll really know until the season is well and truly over.

-- Chloe on her feelings for Clark: "Don't worry, Jimmy. That ship has sailed." Hah! Take that Chlarkers! Don't know if that double entendre was intentional or not, but it made me chuckle!

I caught that too. I got just as big a kick out of it as I think Chloe/Allison did.

-- It was nice to see Clark front and center again. Sticking up for the little guy, that's MY Superman.

He was fantastic last night. Even when he caught the boy in the barn, before he knew what was going on. He didnt jump to any conclusions about why he was there. He just wanted to help him. I love seeing that.

And I also enjoyed his conversation with Chloe about wanting to fix the world of its problems.

-- I chuckled at the Jimmy/Clark scene at the Planet. I know it was cheesy and goofy, but isn't Jimmy SUPPOSED to be cheesy and goofy? The look on Clark's face was priceless!

I really like the two of them together. I hope Jimmy doesnt carry the thought around for too long that Clark doesnt like him. Because we all know that just isnt so.

-- It's nice to see Smallville continue the tradition of hiring the worst freakin' guest actors on television. Jeesh. Did anyone else cringe everytime Javier or Jed or or the cop or Lex's assistant opened their mouths?

I thought Javier was really good. He was the boy from Jurassic Park III. I didnt have a problem with his perfect American/English. I guess as a non-American I know that people do try and copy the American accent via TV shows, and I just didnt have a problem with it.

I also liked Jed, he seemed to really enjoy playing the part. Did anyone else notice that he was the Coach of the Metropolis Sharks from Recruit? Such a different character to be playing this time.

No, I dont agree Raku. I thought he did a really good job.

Lex's Dr. I loved him, he was perfect.

The Sheriff - he wasnt much chop, I agree with that one.

-- Since they placed Subterranean after Static, they tried to shoehorn it in continuity-wise (i.e., references to Lex's proposal). Okay, here's the problem: Lex proposes (presumably) in December (after the Thanksgiving holiday depicted in Rage), so why is it clearly summer? Is Kansas going through one hell of a heat wave, or what?!

Why because it was sunny, do you assume that it was hot? Clark was in his t-shirt most of the time, but that's not really unusual. Lana and Chloe are often in sleevless tops. No one appeared to be sweltering or dying of thirst, suggesting that they were going through a heat wave.

Also, Lana isn't really feeling the effects of morning sickness. My (currently pregnant) wife can barely get out of bed and Lana's flying off to Amsterdam?! (That incredulous comment was actually from the missus :D).

Okay. That is just a total generalisation. Not every pregnant woman goes through morning sickness. Unfortunately I'm not one of them, but I have had a lot of friends who have not felt the effects of pregnancy until they are actually showing.

If you consider that the first scene between Lex and Lana was obviously a reshoot, if they wanted her to feel morning sickness then there is absolutely no reason why they couldnt have suggested such in that scene. Especially since it was morning.

-- What the hell was wrong with Martha? Talk about out of character. Since when has Ma Kent turned her back on a little boy who needs help? Answer: Never! Clark, Ryan, Exploding Baby... The Kents ALWAYS look out for those in need. State senator or not, Martha was so off the mark.

She was. But doesnt that just show us the effects of politics and Lionel Luthor. She needed her son to give her a stern talking to before she came to her senses. I really liked that scene between Martha and Clark. It was very real to me.

Don't recall the writer of the ep, but I remember it wasn't one of the regulars. After this and Static, I'm starting to wonder if Smallville's new writers have ever been properly briefed on who these character are.

Caroline Dries. She wrote Cyborg and Oracle last season which were both excellent episodes.

Plus, the reveal of 33.1 would have meant more if it happened in the fifth slot of the season rather than the ninth.

But then the audience may have forgotten about it by the time Justice aired. I think it was a good reveal, given that Lex denied about it to Lana last episode.

The only thing about this episode that had me cringing was Lana's line to Clark in the Barn. "Unlike some people Lex doesnt lie to me". I know that there is a sense of irony to that statement and its going to come back and bite her in the butt real hard. But every conversation that Lana and Clark have had this season has been about "secrets and lies". Is that all that Clark was good for in her eyes. Not telling the truth. Surely, he gave her alot more than that.

I honestly hope the spoiler
Lana finding out Clark's secret in Crimson
is true. "Cause I'm getting frustrated with these conversations.

But overall, I really enjoyed this episode.

Did anyone find it funny seeing Clark run after Javier, when he could have just supersped ahead of him.

It was funny, he was all running normal speed yelling for Javier to stop, like what you see in chick fliks. :p

I was yelling at him. Run in superspeed Dufus!! :woot:

But on a completely shallow note, it was nice seeing Tom run at normal speed.

Love to see a gif of that. :cwink:

My take is that Lana is still hurting from Clark's comment from "Hypnotic" and it shows when they talk. Mostly because of how venomous her comments to him are. She obviously doens't believe half of what she says, but it's like she can't help but say things to hurt him like he hurt her.

It will bite her in the butt soon, but I think my thoughts are close judging by her comments in the previews. If the spoilers are true, Lana will know just how horribly she had been treating Clark when all he has been trying to do is protect her.

Does anyone else think that maybe she will find out about what happened to her before Clark changed time? I was thinking that is why they showed a scene from reakoning.:woot:

I know she's hurting, but if she's soooo in love with Lex, then she should be moving on. Obviously, she isnt moving on because she still has feelings for Clark.

I think that Clark and Lana barn scene is from Labyrinth. Lana doesnt wear clothes like that now.

There were a few old scenes dropped into that trailer that had me thinking. There was the one from Reckoning. The jump from Insurgence.
And Zod tossing Lana across the room.

Even my hubby said "ooooh things are getting interesting"

Interesting indeed. :woot:

The episode was just okay.. My favorite part was Clark in the white t-shirt. :D

Oh.. and the closing scene with Lex.. AWESOME.

But.. but... that trailer for the upcoming episodes??? Holeeee sheets!

You saved me some typing... those were my thoughts exactly! :woot:

Clark WAS looking particularly adorable in white... which also helped salvage a so-so episode. I recorded it and played the trailer like 20 times. Yowza!

Seeing the Justice League together with Clark front and center leading them made my wife squeal.....which she never does at show. :D

I agree, I think that is the point they are trying to make. And I think Lana will soon be approaching Clark about that very subject soon. Me hopes at least for a decent let's put everything behind us conversation between the two.

Could be, could be. I'm still curious as to what significance Labrynth is going to play as a whole to how Clark looks at his relationships with people around him.

I know, I watched the trailer several times last night and I was trying to pick apart the significance of certain scenes they showed during the trailer. I don't think they were just randomly placed, but may be hints as to what is going to happen in the second half of the season. Lets just say it made it seem certain spoilers we have heard lately might be very true.

Well Lana said to Clark in that scene I know you said you didnt love me. So there's some significance there, I think.

That's what they usually do. So lets hope.

It looks like the ratings werent too hot for this episode, but I guess that's to be expected at this time of the year. I didnt like the comment "CW's deteriorating Smallville". That's a bit harsh. They still beat Fox.

holy crap the justice league? Where's video of this? Me must have...

I dunno. I mean, I'm first generation and have cousins who've lived in America since they were five years old, but still retain a hint of their Chinese accents. I don't mind that Javier could speak English, just the way he spoke rang inauthentic. One way around the problem might have been to explain that he was born in America or something.

Actually, I assumed it was summer because of the green trees and the crops of wheat and corn. Far as I know, wheat fields aren't harvested in the middle of December. Also, if you look at the scenes in the Daily Planet, everyone's sweating and using old school desk fans. Possibly because Metropolis is supposed to still be reeling from the effects of Dark Thursday and the A/C isn't working?

Hey, chill out! I'm just the messenger! Just relaying what my wife said during that scene. That observation was meant to be more of a joke anyway. (See, we too are expecting, and my wife likes to point out all the TV-pregnant people who aren't suffering like she is.

Folks, I prefice by giving you my word that I am in NO WAY trolling or spamming when I state the following:

Last night had to be QUITE POSSIBLy THEWORSTSV EPISODEEVER!!!!!!

More political bull....

Every thing about this episode sucked except the ending.

I could have lapsed into a comma watching ''Subterranian"!!!

WTF are the writers thinking?!?!? They must have had a g**damn vegitable writing that episode!!!?!?!??!

It did NOTHING with the characters! It makes Clark look like a liberal, who once again is BREAKING RULES!??!??!?!?!?!??!??!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

And I'm so SICK of "Trendy Long-Haired Abercrombie Knock-Offs" Pretending to be immigrants?!?!? WTF?!

And the CREME DE LA CREME for me came when clark (or someone) asked the kid how he learned to speak perfect English, and I quote:

"I watched a lot of American TV."

...When that happened I literally blurted out, "OH *****!" because I knew where the rest of the episode was going! :(

I tried to read a magazine through the rest of SV but the dialogue was SO TERRIBLY BAD that I couldn't concentrate.

Now this season started off with a HUGE pop and GA's a great addition, but this was not only the worst of the season, but maybe the worst episode I"ve ever seen!

LOL LOL LOL

It just struck me that this episode being moved created another timeline snafu that we had discussed previously.

Remember how it seemed strange that they went from six weeks from when the phantom zone opened to thanksgiving.

I think this was one episode that was supposed to go between there, so the summer thing may be correct.

I wonder how many tanning beds that kid had to sit through to make him look semi-mexican.

LMAO !!!  :cmad:

Did he come over from Mexico or Aeropostal??!

Now Pat how come you havent picked up on this scene. You're usually the first on the ball with this stuff.

Jimmy and Chloe are talking at the Daily Planet. Jimmy tells Chloe that she must have a guardian angel, they move in for a kiss, and we then get a shot of Clark in his white t-shirt.

I love that stuff!!

Did you grab any caps of that Kai? :woot:

I dont think there would have been any way around it. If they had hired an actor with an accent then they would have been accused of stereo-typing. I think its just one of those things you can either go with or you cant. Like I said it didnt bother me.

Ya see, coming from a sunburnt country I'm too ignorant to pick up on stuff like that and living in San Diego doesnt help either.

I didnt notice that what they were actually doing was attending to crops and I also didnt see the fans on the desks at the DP.

It usually takes several viewings for me to notice stuff like that. :o

Just wanted to point out some of the facts of pregnancy, since I've been through 3 times. :cwink:

As for the 33.1 comment, c'mon do the writers really think us viewers have that bad of a memory, we needed to be reminded of the "fake floor" every episode now? Besides, Lionel already told Lex that 33.1 was moved, we know that 90% of what Lex says to Lana is a lie. I wish the writers would watch some more TV and find out how a good TV show is written, look at Supernatural, Veronica Mars, Heroes, 24. C'mon give your viewers the benefit of the doubt that maybe they don't need to be spoonfed anymore. The best part of the Lex doesn't lie to me line was Lana has already caught Lex in several lies, but just puts her fingers in her ears and starts yelling "I can't hear you! I can't hear you!" whenever he catches him rather than actually admitting the person she's dating is lying to her, it's denial of the worst order.
