6.12 Labyrinth - Discussion Thread (Spoilers)

That's what I mean. It's annoying. It's too much. I could understand it being used in the teaser, but...it just won't ****ing stop. It's way too much.

I was actually just reading on another site, that the humming was actually Shelby barking in the background. When Clark starts to realise that the world he is in isnt real, Lana fades away, the humming stops and Clark says Shelby. His barking replaced the humming.

Whatever the reasoning, it was still terrible, IMO. Damn near ruined the ep, and I really mean that. It's hard to enjoy an episode when you yourself are feeling as though you may be going insane.

Hey, I just watch the show. Sue me. :p :D

Well yeah, to people that wouldn't know "Kryptonite" from a hole in the wall. To those that know what it IS however, he uses the real term. To wit...

From Visitor:

Clark: No, it's called Kryptonite.
Pete: Kryptonite. Is that with a C or a K?
Clark: K.

From Onyx:

Clark: There was an accident at LuthorCorp, and I think that Lex was affected… by black kryptonite.
Martha: How did Lex get a hold of black kryptonite?
Clark: Well, I don't think he knows anything about the black K. I think he accidentally created it when he was experimenting with meteor rocks.

There were at least two other incidents of CLARK saying "Kryptonite" in Unsafe too. The only time that I can remember where he didn't say Kryptonite, referring to it as meteor rock (after he knew what to call it) was when he and Chloe were discussing the contract killer in Fade. It was necessary for plot, because the FOTW wouldn't KNOW what "Kryptonite" was in order to use it on Clark later. I remember thinking it stood out in the dialog because Clark would normally say Kryptonite to Chloe post Arrival.

Swan told Clark in Rosetta what planet Clark was from: Krypton. Clark coined the term himself for the planet's meteorites. Kinda makes sense, actually, since all he did was add "ite" to Krypton. LOL

Exact quotes for any questions posed from over 120 hours of television......:wow:

But hey, if you're going to do something, might as well do it right?

I liked this episode. I thought, once again damnit, that Kristin did one heck of a job. I have a hard time buying into the 'Crazy Clark' stuff. BUT, there was some really good glances of what could have been. (might be?)

I liked this episode more than last weeks episode.

Bad Pickle.......I'm too honest.

Yet another one for the books.

Fantastic ending imo.

Well, my tape messed up and I ended up watching squigglyville through much of the episode...I was so ticked off.:cmad:

But I caught most of the important stuff.

I was so happy to see Shelby again, it has been how long since we have seen him.:woot:

I may have my issues with the way they characterize Lana, but hell; if Kristin didn't act her booty off last night. She is such a wonderful actress and her and Welling have superb chemestry together.

To those who try and say that Welling can't act, watch this episode. Great stuff.

Martian Manhunter was a neat addition and how he was trying to help Clark throughout the episode. It's already been said in interviews that he'll be back. I can't wait till he and Clark get to have a conversation, and Clark learns that MM had been keeping an eye on him for years.

That end scene with Lex, Lana, and Clark made me miss the innocent days of Seasons one and two. The coffee house, and the wonderful suedo friendship that Clark and Lex had. It's never easy to lose a friend that you were so close to.

"Wow Clark, you almost sounded sincere." and "We were just saying goodbye." Those lines broke my heart.:csad:

I think ever since Rosetta when Clark learned about Krypton, Clark/Chloe/Martha call them "meteor rocks" when they're around someone who doesnt know about Clark. But when it's just between them they do call it Kryptonite.

Is it just me or is Lex overdoing his relationship with Lana in front of Clark to compensate for Lionels attention(admiration, affection, whichever you prefer) to Clark? It just irks me slightly that a man of Lex's age who's been with supermodels and georgeous woman all over the world is this infatuated with a 19 year old country girl. The episode was awesome and Clark said the exact perfect thing when Lana asked what happened next. I woke up was sort of a double meaning, was it not? Did he mean it in both senses that a) he didn't want to tell her what really happened next and b) it woke him up in reality that they will never be? Kind of confused myself there a bit, hopefully you guys get what i'm saying and then can explain it to me? lol

Correct. Since learning about Krypton Clark and others who know about Clark always have called it Kryptonite...unless someone else was around.

The only exception to that was, like Pat said, in "Fade" when Chloe and Clark were talking and said meteor rock. It was said as a plot convenience and personally I hated that scene, totally took me out of the story. I thought, "What the hey, they would just call it Kryptonite. Oh the inviso guy is listening in..and he wouldn't know what they were talking about. LAME!" :p

i was kinda upset being spoiled about lexs missing legs, but couldnt you just see even with all the built up hate clark has for lex, when he saw what he did, you could see the anguish on his face...almost as if he felt guilty or sad.

Also that constant humming throughout the episode sucked.
I liked the humming throughout the fantasy sequence. It kind of lent a sort of foreboding throughout. At first, I thought the rumbling/growling was to subtly let the viewers know Clark was being held by a Phantom. Only later did I realize Clark was hearing the growling as well, and that said growling was actually Shelby the whole time. Shelby saves Clark! How cool is that?!

No doubt!

This episode was OFF THE CHAIN!! C'mon people! That scene between Clark and Lex (with Lex in the wheelchair) --> OMFG x a million!!! Chloe's death. The dialog ("then what happened?" ... "I woke up.") The entire cast's acting topped off by Welling's best performance (IMHO) to date....

Are people actually moaning about MM helping Clark defeat the phantom? Jeezes!! Stop watching the show NOW before you hurt yourselves. LOL!!

I reeeeeeeee-heeeeeeeeeely LOVED Justice. Love it to pieces. I've totally lost count of how many times I've re-watched it. But Labyrinth beats it. Whoda freakin' thunk? Wow... I'm blown away. :wow:

Nothing to add, but !

and I guess people cant complain that Clark never punches anyone LOL He threw down at least 4 times in this episode. The janitor, 2 of Lex's security guards, and the hospital orderlies. (who for some reason looked like old school ice cream men with those bow ties :) )

I thought that too! Clark punched more people in this episode than in all five theatrical Superman movies combined!!!

I liked the episode. I just hope they'll use MM later in the season.

Now here's what I want to know:

Phil Morris plays MM to a T, but is this the official look for MM or do you think J'onn J'honzz (John Jones, or however anybody spells it) is using his shape shifting ability to blend in and look human?

I believe Morris has said in an interview that his guise on Smallville is a result of shapeshifting into an African American.

Do you think we'll see him actually go all out Martian by sometime in the series? (green skin, red eyes, alien shaped head)
I really hope so, but knowing Goughlar, I highly doubt they'd do it. I think it's doable though. Angel and Buffy got away with doing creature makeup for years.

It's absurd how whenever Clark is faced with this sort of thing...he always ends up giving in. I can't view this dumby as Superman at all.

Oh really? Hmmmm....

Yeah, that's what I said!

Agreed! Kristin was equally fantastic (the whole cast was really!) She really re-captured innocent, sweet Lana from Season One and proved that her inconsistency was not the actress' fault.

I think your initial observation is right on the money. I think Lex is definitely rubbing it in to Clark. He has what Clark doesn't. I think that propels his courting of Lana moreso than any real feelings he might have for her.

It's kind of how at the end of "Justice," Lionel was rubbing in the fact that he is invited for a nice family dinner at the Kents' home. You can see the anguish in Lex's face when he realizes Lionel is essentially bragging about his "in" with the Kents. Fantastic acting all around. These post-hiatus eps have been some of the best so far!

Well, to be honest with you, isn't that the case for many celebrities who could have any woman they want but instead they settle down with a hometown girl who knows them better than anyone?

And as far as the ages go: Lex is 26 and Lana is 20.

Thanks Raku. Upon reading my prior post, I kind of answered my own question in a way. My reasoning that Lex was infatuated with a 19 year old country girl was totally dumb on my part, he's infatuated with having what Clark wants and has nothing to do with Lana herself. The only iota that Lex is really in love with Lana is that he still thinks of the "dream" from Lexmas? Just my opinion though.

I was typing up my post before I read this, but you are correct, not totally impossible. I think it's just the whole Lana thing that's getting to me. Is she really 20 on the show already, lol, where does the time go?

Amazing isn't it? We know she was 15 in Season 1, so do the math and she's 20 now. Lex mentioned in some episode (can't remember which one it was) that he was 9 when the meteor shower happened. So, add 12 years to that and you get 21 (his Season 1 age). Add 5 years to that and you get 26, his current age. So, he ran for Kansas Senate at 25.

I agree, the Shelby saving Clark was awsome. They haven't had Shelby around any this season, but when they put him in, they make it count!:woot:

This episode was awesome

Kal-kai, we need some gifs. Do you think you might have one with Clark punching the maintanance worker....where his fist comes toward the screen and it blacks out.

That made me laugh.:woot:

has nothing to do with Smallville, but at what post count do you get the bigger avy's? B8's last post got me curious?

This episode was awesome. I like how they made MM terrifed of the lighter. Next weeks episode should keep the momentum going.

my tivo is still being a raging terrorist... does anyone know where i can download this episode? it's not up on limewire yet.

i wish clark and john had a little talk outside of the "dream world"

Thats a really good observation. I think the writers are really trying to play on Lex's jealousy of Superman from the comics, with Lex and Clark on the show. Lex has pretty much been flaunting Lana in Clark's face since they got together. It's not that Lana is this divine super hot chick (even though Kristin really IS), it's just that she used to be Clark's and now he has her which in Lex's mind makes her valueable.

And yeah I did think there was also a double meaning to Clark's "Then I woke up" statement.
