No. I'm acting as if you made
#1 A statement as fact when it's a preference
#2 a Statement as fact when you have no way to prove it.
You don't like the editing in that shot...ok. That's fine.
But you just told someone they were "wrong" it was a "horrible" editing job.
I'm not sure who you are to suppose that someone is wrong because they're opinion on a matter of preference does not equate to yours.
double cuts are not very uncommon in action sequences... look at a movie shot in the 80's or 90's you can see houses, boats etc explode from 6 different angles .. so seeing that thing from 2 angles works imo. i didnt really noticed it the first time, but when you see it over and over again it becomes obvious of course... the truck flip in TDK has also a double cut and nobody was freakin out there ...
and also you have to cut more slowly for imax because the image is so huge..
You also made the claim. Please. Enlighten me.
Because you're saying i'm wrong. So how are you right?
and I'm wondering when Zeus made you God of editing to tell people that their preference on a aesthetic is wrong.
* let me also clarify, im a huge Nolan fan and yes.. its bad editing in the truck chase scene.
Because i'm editing something now. Boom. Hence fourth, I know more then you.
I agree I think the editing on the truck chase is pretty bad.
Maybe some of you are misunderstanding me.
I don't CARE if someone doesn't like the editing in the prologue. I do care if they start acting as if they're opinion is some kind of scientific fact and anyone who doesn't agree is wrong.
This is not a debate about the editing but whether or not Celtic's opinion can be/Should be treated as the know-all-be-all of editing.
If he had simply said: "I think it's a horrible job" instead of saying: "Wrong. It's just horrible editing"
I wouldn't have said anything

Exactly. Double-cutting is a method that even has its own term and other action movies have used it, it's not like Nolan went off and messed up so badly that what he did doesn't even have a name and was ONLY used by amateur filmmakers on YouTube.Nolans problem in editing isn't double cuts.. its continuity within the scene.
If you're problem is with a double-cut that's a matter of preference, if its a matter of continuity thats a whole other matter.

Objectively, the scene is edited wrongly. Celtic isn't insulting you or anyone else here. He's just stating something that can be found in any filmmaking textbook.
I thought that was fine, it's good to see it from two very different angles.
No. It's horrible editing. No getting around that fact.
