7.04 - Cure - Discussion Thread (Spoilers)

And my heart broke for Chloe and Jimmy. He really adores her and she just pushed him away. It was a good continuity scene reminiscent of the season 2 opener (can't remember the episode name) when she pushed the possiblity of dating Clark away. But, I really don't understand why she can't tell Jimmy about her meteor power. I know they established in Fierce that Jimmy wants to hunt them all down for whatever reason, but does she truly believe Jimmy of all people would expose her or harm her? I personally think it would have been a better storyline if the writers showed Chloe confiding in Jimmy and showing us (the viewers) that she has learned from her friendship with Clark about trusting in the people you love. I just don't like the obvious parallel they are trying to show with her new power and Clark's secret. We've been there for 6+ years with Clark. I don't really think it's necessary to reinforce the "hiding secerts" agenda again.

You've been reading my mind. :yay:

so, Zor-El tried to assassinate Jor-El

i wonder why?

I like the idea that Zor-El was working with Zod and maybe even created Brainiac. The feud doesn't have to be complicated though. Jor-El and Zor-El are just two brothers who had different opinions. Maybe Zor-El wanted to enslave mankind with Zod, but Jor-El refused to go with the plan.

Hey all in all pretty good episode. of course you had no where to go but up from last week. But I liked Dean and hope he comes back. Vandal Savage? i think so. Really too many parallels to not be really. So again I will say it really good episode for me. The kara MM stuff was spectacular and well Lana lying to Clark? Right now I dont mind what they are doing with her, lets just see which way it goes. So next week is a new episode and then there is a break for a bit? Or when does the break happen?

Man, I know I really enjoyed the episode, but I'm on so many painkillers for an ailing spine that I only remember bits and pieces of it. It's funny to read the comments on here, only 14 hours after watching the episode, and think, "Oh, yeah. I forgot about that" (Clark + syrup).

At least with a jacked-up short term memory I can watch it again for the first time! Thanks, Mr. Doctor Man.

Okay. How did Lex seem to find out so much information about Knox? “facial recognition technology”? Okay. All the photos of ‘Knox’ in the past could have been just dead-ringer ancestors. I wonder why Clark was so quick to accept that he was immortal..

It is seemingly inferred that Knox has known about Clark and his abilities?

The climax, to me, was, well, a little anti-climactic. Though I did appreciate seeing Chloe in her bra (sweet!), I thought the fight could have been better executed. When it ends, Knox is simply ‘staring’ at Clark as his wife awakes—and dies?

More flirtation with Jimmy and kara.. he might as well ask her out; Kara’s sapien-curious affections might get him lucky..

More lying and secret hiding, from all sides of the fences. So, uh, why is Lana doing all this spying on Lex?

J’onn asserts that Kara is a danger, but hasn’t elaborated. I’m surprised that Clark simply hasn’t demanded more of a full explanation yet.

Exactly.

She let Jimmy go at the end like Clark did Lana, so there's quite a bit of character similarity there. Interestingly, when Chloe was on Knox's table fearing for her life, she said there was one person she knew she wanted to see again - and that was after she walked out on Jimmy. Wonder who she was referring to? ;)

Was I the only person who expected Knox's comatose wife/lover to grow old and skeletonize after she died? Genre mentality and creepy horror assumption strikes again. LOL

I just thought she did want to see Jimmy after all.

As for his wife, yeah, I also thought she would turn into a skeleton and then dust. How cool would it have been if that actress was Terry Hatcher. I'm sure she could have taken 10 minutes to do that scene. She wouldn't even have to talk.

I think its safe to say that the reason Clark may not be demanding a full explination from John is that maybe Clark does trust John more then Kara.

Yeah, there were lots of things to love about this episode, and I enjoyed it as a whole.

I'm curious, are Clark and Lana sleeping together, or are they not going to reveal that piece of information until a pivotal moment?

We are bound to find out in the 7th episode. It wouldnt be Smallville if we didnt. I think most will go back to hating Lana after the 7th episode depending on what she does with Clarks powers & knowing G & M it does not look pretty.

Good times

The Lana at the farmhouse is all sweetness and light but the Lana behind Clark's back is tough and dark. What gives? I don't want to think that she would be that conniving and deceptive. But I don't want to think its not the real Lana either. She out and out lied to Clark so, if this is the way they are going, no way will it be Clark messing things up this time.

I'm wondering is she out to get Lex, or is she checking up on him to protect Clark? Its an interesting side plot for Lana in any case.

That's the way I saw it, too.

Yeah, when I rewatched that scene it wasnt as bad my initial impression of it.

Maybe Kara just doesn't understand her father was the bad guy. From those spoiler pics in "Lara" he certainly looked the part to me.

I'm thinking that too. I think Jonn is a good guy and is protecting Clark, he's been doing it for all of Clark's life basically, so there's probably some secrets about Zor-el that even Kara doesnt know about.

They need to spin off the Martian Manhunter into his own show.

The Galaxy Bounty Hunter

It could be a prequel

Now there's an idea.

So I was wondering did Clark pay for that Mayple Syrup or did he just swipe it off the shelf in the store.

;)

Serene and Raku beat me to it.

I had such a crush on Will Robinson. :O

Yikes!! I used to love that show when I was kid, but Will Robinson so used to annoy me. :cwink:

i cant wait to learn more about what Zor-El did. It just seems that mysterious.

Did I miss something...I thought Clark was the only one so far that knew Lana was alive??
But last night he asked her if she had spoken with Chole or something to that effect...maybe I am forgetting something.

That was a very poorly written scene. One minute they're talking about Kara, then it jumps to Chloe. I had to do a double take to figure out who they were talking about. Why the writers would neglect to show Chloe and Lana meeting again is beyond me.

Overall, I thought the episode was fairly good, but it definitely could have been much better. I wish Dean Cain's character could have gotten a bit more backstory, how he came about developing a cure, how does he take the powers, etc. The Chloe/Jimmy stuff took up way too much of the episode, and throwing Kara in there just for the sake of a triangle is stupid. I understand Kara was trying to flirt with Jimmy to get information about Lois' tape, but it just seemed too forced.

What bothered me about the episode was how blase Clark was about "killing" Dr.Knox. Sure, Lex's life was in danger, but was it really necessary for Clark to smash Knox into a power "thingy"(the name of it escapes me).

I enjoyed the conflict between MM and Kara, has me interested in who exactly is telling the truth. I wonder what MM did to Kara and her family.

Yeah last night's ep had a few issues with that, not sure if it was the editing or writing or both.
Like Clark coming out of nowhere (apparently he was following Curtis) to save Lex. When did Clark start following him?

I'm already there, Lana has been a useless character for a long time now and due to her being useless, but because the producers want to keep the actress on the show, she gets involved in the worst storylines on the show. Damn, I wish she was the one who died in Reckoning.

i loved the bit were knox says he was Jack th Ripper. Just loved it.

is it just me or is the clark/lana relationship seem .... off?

last ep, lana returns.

this ep, she's making blueberry pancakes and putting flowers all over the house.

seeing lana and clark play house is just SO ODD.
What's OFF is that after all the BUILD-UP, going back to season 5 when Clark stiffed-armed Lana (first sexually and then totally) and after all the LONGING and emotionally charged scenes between the two characters... they are handling their reunion in such an understated, nonchalant manner. It's odd... it's disappointing, it's distracting and it's REALLY getting on my nerves!!!

My boyfriend even complained about it (sharp guy ;) )... He said that after they've built up this relationship for years, how could they give so little attention to WHAT MANY OF US HAVE BEEN WANTING TO SEE FOR 6 SEASONS!?

Lana KNOWS Clark's secret! He thought she was dead, but she's ALIVE! He thought that he had lost her forever but she came back for HIM! They are not only TOGETHER, but she's staying with him! All that's HUGE! But the writers are treating it like a B plot?! I mean... Clark and Lana (TW and KK) can generate so much HEAT, how is it that they are acting so nonchalant around each other?! They haven't even kissed... not once.

If I hadn't heard Kara tell Lana that she can tell how crazy her and Clark are about each other... I'd wonder if Lana was his sister! :(

That's just bad writing. It's also not really FAIR to all the Lana and Clark fans who had to SUFFER through more than a year of Lex and Lana... IMHO. :cwink:

I like how they're handling the whole Clark and Lana relationship. There's too much storyline to cover to just focus on that relationship.

It would be an interesting contrast if Kara (thinking the world of her father) ends up finding out Zor-El was a bad dude, and wants to try and avoid going down that path. On the other hand, have Clark learning about Jor-El's good ways (though he used to thing he was evil, and wanted to be nothing like him) and then want to be more like his father.

Just sayin. *shrug*
