7.16 - Descent - Discussion Thread (Spoilers)

Yep, might even venture that this was the best episode in atleast 4 seasons. Very well done. If only they were all near as good as this....

Lois wasting five minutes of the episode blabbing on, while Jimmy has what she wanted was kind of annoying.

Jimmy was too "cool" (pun intended) when **** went down. Not at all like in the comics.

I'm going to say, the best episode so far based on character development and story. Hey who do you guys think killed Gina? And where the hell did Lex put the key?

What if they all think Lionel is dead, but right before he hits the street Jor-El takes over.

What's your problem with Lois? She was fine, she goes for it instead of hacking and goggling like softy Chloe, who is rather quite slow, not doing that much lately.

How has so many people seen this episode already?!? It airs on Thursday night, it's just Wednesday...what the hell!!!

Looking forward to it tomorrow!!!

Chloe has been the best of the secondary 'peer' characters for a long long time. Lois is always kind of lame. That being said, she works better as a sidekick for jimmy than the other way round.

Anyhow, the episode was really good, little annoyances aside. Seems this season would have been pretty solid without the strike. This Veritas arc is great.

any clues as to what is in the box?

that actually would make a lot of sense... but then what would that have to do with the thing lex has that needs the two keys? And the envelope?

is the whole episode online yet? Oh hell, I'll just wait for tomorrow night.

I actually really like the way they are developing the relationship between Lois and Jimmy. Thank God Al and Miles don't have time to throw Chloe in and make it a love triangle.

Is very iconic, they're developing the friendship of Lois and Jimmy, they can't have a romantic 'ship on SV, DC would never allow it. Jimmy and Chloe could end on the finale if Chloe leaves, have to wait and see for that one.

It's not ironic at all... it's completely predictable, that at some point would have to become friends: hence why Lois Lane and Jimmy Olson work together in the 'future'.

Yeah they have made it very much a brother/sister thing. They seem protective of each other, I liked when he was talking to her in the freezer.

But you know if Al and Miles had time to screw with this and create tension between the 3 of them they would of tried.:whatever:

I think he said "iconic" :) I'm so looking forward to this ep tonight.

my bad, it's not really iconic either, just gives a nice oooh and ahhh.

anyhow, it's nice to be talking positively about SV for a good run of episodes, doesn't happen very often for me.

I think when all is said and done, my thoughts about this brilliant veritas stuff, is that we the audience should have known about it, in one way or another, since the chris reeve episode way back when (if this has in fact been the plan all along). Introducing these interesting connections now, feels like this was a patch job at the end, to tie up loose ends. Had the concept of Veritas (in one form or another) existed in the backs of our minds since the early seasons, I think the overall feel of the series would be improved.

Patchjob or not, what they have done with the veritas stuff is great. Much better than the level 13 which never really happened.

One thing that I really liked about the episode, was the indirect explanation, finally, of why Lionel never sold Papa Kent out, about the adoption and whatnot.

and lastly, every Clark Lex confrontation was brilliant. 1) at the crime scene, their interaction was great 2) at the mansion, even better 3) the graveyard.

although they didn't speak in two of those scenes, they spoke without words.

Lex on Smallville is perfect example of Tragic character:csad::csad:

he had goodness in him but circumstances made him psychotic and evil

i think julian's death persona was final nain on his goodness and after lionel's death there is no turnning back fro him

also it was sad to see both clark and lex in last secene because theye used to be great freinds once and from now they will be moratn enemies forever

I'm torn right now. I found the episode online and I'm just wondering if I should watch it now or wait until tonight and watch it on tv. I'll see if I can hold on for a couple more hours but I'm weak.

^^^ watc it on TV

specailly smallville doesn't have episode like this quite often

yeah I have other stuff to do anyways so I'll just watch it on tv. I can wait a couple hours. Have you seen it already b24?

^^^ yes the whole epeisode had quite dark and grimm tone it is lex at his evil best

also even clark was good he showed his some detective skills and i liked how he saved lois and jimmy
