Not getting the Saw thing? Is every abduction scene in a movie or TV show now suddenly Saw because its popular? The episode Mercy I could see the connection to Saw because the abductor made them play "games" but what's the similarity here?

And you think "Saw" invented those concepts? I'd suggest watching back episodes of the Twilight Zone, and Alfred Hitchcock Presents and reading a few early Stephen King books.

He was a jeweler. We've seen multiple times on the show like in Whisper, Red, etc. where the people have used the meteor rocks in jewelery. Hell in the comics, Lex got cancer in his hand from having a kryptonite ring. It may have been somewhat silly and "convenient" but it wasnt unprecedented.
