8.05 - Committed - Discussion Thread (Spoilers)

hey, i was watching the episode, and I noticed that in one of the scenes involving Oliver and Tess, he called her Mercy. I could be wrong, but isn't that like a nod to Lex's assistant in the comics and S:TAS? Now if someone had already discussed this before me, my bad. I did'nt feel like sifting through all the pages and heck, I tried. :)

Yea in the last episode he also called her Mercy

Great episode. I loved the interaction between Clark and Lois, fun stuff. Lois was smokin hot in this episode as usual. She looked good in Clark's football jersey. And I keep getting a visual of her taking an hour to get undressed in the kitchen. LOL:cwink:

I also laughed when Lois answered the question, If she loved Clark, and when she said yes Clark flinched like he was waiting to get shocked.:wow: That was a nice touch. I'm not buying Lois' excuse that she slipped off the sensor from her finger either. If that was the case she could have saved herself alot of embarrasment by saying no to the question then.

There weren't too many low points in this episode. The Jimmy/Chloe stuff was kept to a minimum. And I have to wait and see where the producers are going with the Ollie/Tess relationship. It could end up being a good addition. Only time will tell.

Overall this episode was very enjoyable. I felt that it flowed nicely and added alot of depth to certain character relationships. Can't wait to see next weeks episode.:bh:

I think Clark totally didn't buy Lois's lie, but he didn't want to embarrass her or make an awkward situation even more so. And I absolutely loved how Lois broke down right before she admitted she loved him. She sooooooooooo didn't slip the sensor off her finger.

One thing that got me: Metropolis is a pretty big place, right? So how did Lois and Clark get captured so soon after announcing their "engagement"? Weren't there other couples in the city for the Jeweler to go after?

The one thing I hated in this episode was the motherfrakkin kritponite watch. Oh my god... talk about plot convenience. The dude just happened to have a watch with kriptonite in it and he just happened to NOT wear it when Clark and Lois first came in the store. Oh. My God.

Ah, nevermind. The Jeweler dude was in the store when they were ring shopping? I was wondering how everyone knew he was a jeweler. I had company at my house and I think that was the 5-minute span when their toddler was chasing my cat around and totally freaking him out. Evil little children.

I really like the fight between Oliver and Mercy. It would be cool if she was an Amazonian warrior

I didn't like the eppy at all. I want to see Doomday.
Um, But I truly wanted to see more action, less drama. And isn't oliver supposed to be with dinah?

Kryptonite is the Deux Ex Machina of the Superman universe. It's super rare, but all of his villians seem to get ahold of it.

It just makes sense that this would transfer to the Smallville universe.

At least it wasn't some Kryptonite infused lie detector like the write up made us believe. The show has set a precedense that Kryptonite is used in Jewelry making ala Whisper and Red, and at least him being a Jewler made more sense that a bracelet he is wearing could have Kryptonite as it's stone. They needed an excuse to make sure Clark was weakened for a bit, so it wasn't a super easy bust and grab for Clark.

Plus it resulted in some great stuff, like Clark headbutting the guy and very smartly using the drainage grate to get rid of the bracelet.

Stuff like this is just something you have to accept when it comes to Superman related media. :)

The Ollie/Mercy plot is this seasons Clark/Lex show long battle. For years Clark tried to keep Lex good. Now, Ollie is trying to "save" Mercy from the dark side.

Also, someone needs to gif the scene when Clark squirms after Lois says she loves him. :)

I accept it when it's used creatively. This was just plain convenience. Why wasn't he wearing his watch in the shop then? A kryptonite based torture device does in fact make more sense.

Really....I would have knocked the episode alot if they went the Kryptonite lie detector route.

But you are correct it is convenient and contrived...but 95% of the inclusion of Kryptonite in all Supes media I find contrived. What they did in this episode didn't bother me though.

To each his own.

i see they are making oliver kind of regressing back this unlike season 6

and talk about having a bad day 1st he find out his ex is getting married to some geeky guy

then getting played by tess

he also got to bang Tess, I think that would even it out a little

You know, I've never been really a fan of Smallville (or Superman for that matter), I watched the last two seasons off and on and was almost always left disappointed but this show has really picked itself off the ground this season.

I have to give credit where credit is due, the show has really gotten it's act together.

Each episode has felt worthwhile and in some way fun, thats more than I can say for a good bit of episodes I've seen before Season Eight.

Good episode.

Mercy..Mercy..

I don't know, he looked kinda disappointed after she said she lied. After she left the elevator, it looked like he was a little sad as though he was happy with the idea of Lois being in love with him.

I think they did a search on all the couples who were abducted and found out that there were some common places that they all went to. I think Lois and Clark stopped by a catering shop and some other place along with the jewelry store.

That's a good point, I never really considered that. But something that really got to me was how Clark was weakened by a small piece of kryptonite that was more than 5 feet away from him at times, and he couldn't use his powers, but when the guy came near him, he had the strength to rip it off and headbutt the guy.

And isn't oliver supposed to be with dinah?
Nope, they've threw some some hints at it at the end of Siren, but in Odyssey it was pretty clear that they were just partners and not a couple. Besides, if they were together, you'd think she'd be around more often.

maybe it was his special "abduction and torture watch" :D

LadyVader....then did you prefer the Krypto Gatoraide...or how about the Krypto plastic surgery....or how about the Krypto tatoos.

I much prefer what they did here. :p

I'm abit surprised to see Tess/Oliver grouped in with the Chloe/Jimmy snoozefest. I'm finding it kind of fun, actually.

I'm actually wanting to see more of whats going on there, to see if he can wear her down to the point where there might be a more of a heart behind that "hardcore business" exterior.

If she's anything like Lex, underneath all those thorns and power is probably a pretty wounded psyche.

It would be nice to eventually see Tess get the happy ending down the line that we know for certain we'll never get to see Lex have.

I doth agree, I am digging hardcore Tess' character, and I am interested in her past and what brought her to where she is now.

Plus her banter with Oliver was great, as was the sparring.

I wish he didn't see it necessary to take his shirt off every episode though. :(

Well, not really looking forward to this one. Rest of the episodes seem more interesting to my liking, so hopefully this one comes up with a nice surprise...

The Lois and Clark anvils will be flying in this one, I bet.

Well let me tell you I was pleasantly surprised, I really enjoyed this episode!

It was enjoyable/fun to watch. As I said, anvils will be dropping at they did. I finally actually believe that Chloe might actually love Jimmy more than she does Clark. Unless is was Brainiac who can control a lie detector. Lois is a funny drunk.

Oh and whoever says Clark and Lois have no chemistry together, well to put it nicely as I can, need to shut the **** up!

Somehow I think Ollie has the crystal. I mean, Clark does get it back, and he has been spending some time with Tess. I dunno, call it a hunch....
