8.12 - Bulletproof - Discussion Thread (Spoilers)

I blame Clark too . But you can't deny that lana is not at fault . She's had negative influence . Clark's used her as an excuses through out this entire series run . He rather be with her and forsake his destiny . Than be The Hero he's destined to become at this point in his life .

The world is in need of a savior that will be inspiration to many. A light to those who have lost their way in the darkness. A champion of justice, etc... Deep down Clark knows he's that he's the one . But what's holding him back is his desire to be with lana, when he himself knows it's just not ment to be .

And it's Lana who's been pounding that into his Kryptonian skull since "Action" (#7-5). She knows that her relationship with Clark won't work out like they think it will:

"One day the world will need you more than I do. And I don't want to be the one holding you back."

Clark's response, with that puppy-dog look in his eyes? "I'm not going anywhere. Everything I have is right here."

Same deal with the scene in the Talon tonight. "I've forsaken my family and friends for the greater good," Clark said. But then he goes and states something the exact opposite. And seals it with a kiss.

What happened to that confident Clark that ruled the first half of this season?

things I liked

The Great Gazoo hanging from the rearview of Jonn's car.
Seeing Lex's power suit (Prometheus) on the puter screen
Emil Hamilton being mentioned. But really could he disguise alien physiology in a surgery room? And what about Jonn's real form? How can he lose his power and stay human looking?
anyhoo I think that scene with Lana at the end will be our last.
he's going to realize he loves Lois more.

if they are using a new team this season it's working for me. the writing and the acting is better.

Finally someone else who spells Jonn his comic way.
And to someone else agreeing with me that he still has his powers, it's like I posted above if he didn't have his powers Jonn would be in his true martian form.

I know this would never happen, but I would love to have it shown to us that Lana is a meteor freak whose power is that anybody finds her irresistible when they are in her presence. it would make alot of storylines the past 7 1/2 seasons easier to swallow

Well we saw him the first 38 minutes of this episode

Clark in uniform. Yes, please.

Clark layering with tight gray T. Mmmm.....

Clark realizing that he wants and can have love in his life and still work to save the world. *draws hearts*

Clark and Lana kissing, again. I won't even pretend, of course I loved it. But it's a different feeling watching it knowing what we know. And then there's the echo of Clark's earlier conversation with Chloe when he said something to the effect of - "You can't just stop loving someone..." It's easy to forget that Clark and Lana hadn't broken up when she departed. There were no teary, heartbroken fights, there was just him kneeling by her and crying for her to recover. And then she was gone. He may be the man of steel, but his heart is anything but.

I give Clark as much leeway as he needs for his heart to find its way to Lois because I believe in him and I see that his destiny doesn't allow him a usual pattern in life. His capacity and desire for love as a person in his unique situation were the real point that was presented. His epiphany about having love in his life brought him straight back to what has always been his touchstone for those kinds of feelings - Lana.

It won't work out, with her, of course. But that doesn't mean there isn't love there, it's just not the eventual love that he's destined for in his life as Superman. In a way, I found the kiss bittersweet knowing that it's only setting them up to pull the rug out, hard, and for the last time. But I'm shallow enough to have still loved it. That's the chemistry that burns up the screen for me, so I'll take it, despite anything and everything else that is really coloring it.

As far as the rest of the episode - I was a bit disappointed with the little we saw of J'onn J'onz. But with Ollie, Lana and Tess, there realy wasn't a lot of time to give to another secondary character, I guess.

I enjoy Ollie. Even when he's busting Clark's balls about something, I love that Clark has a hot male friend, especially one who knows his secret. The Afterschool Special message of "Buddies are Good" was delivered with a anvil that was clunky even for SV standards, but silly me, I still liked seeing the boyz bond.

Clark's saying "Lois is.... Lois", cracked me up. This is why he loves her - she's Lois, and not like anyone else he's ever encountered. And didn't Tom deliver that beautifully?

I also dug the Chun-Li Lana - Tess fight. But I was especially impressed that the writers actually established early in the episode that both women were well-versed in that type of hand-to-hand fighting. Also, Cassidy Freeman - kudos on a job well done in the shot of Tess realizing the enormity of what Lex had been doing to her. I was impressed.

The good cop, Danny Turpin, was wearing Clark colors, but in muted tones in his early scene at his home. And Lana donned her Luthorian purple for her initial visit with Tess. Loved that. Now, why was Chloe also all purpled out?

Can I get a WOOT!! for the token fishnet-stockinged and tall-booted sole Metropolis hooker? You work that corner, girlfriend!

Off to watch Supernatural now...

That's right, Clark is the one going for it while Lana tries to push him back, he initiated the kiss after his little talk.... some people prefer to blame Lana because is a lot easier than admitting Clark is not mature enough emotionally.

Is a shame TPTB write him this way after 8 freaking years, but is not a surprise, afterall:

AlMiles/PS3 = angsty relationships crap

While I was tired of the Clana thing back in the early part of the decade , I gotta say that Kristen Kreuk is so lovely. :wow:. The older she get's the hotter she becomes. Oh the torture Clark must being going through having to chose between Erica Durance and Kristen Kreuk:whatever:.Lol. I'd relieve him of that burden if he so wished:cwink:.

As far the Ep . I thought it was Meh. It was SV meets the Departed.

Yep. Seems were back to thr same old "I just wanna stay on the farm with you Lana" bullcrap. Everything Clark accomplished in the first 10 episodes has just been all undone in 4 minutes. Clark had no consideration for Lois in any capacity. I would have to rank this episode as the worst episode I ever seen on the last 4 mins alone. I felt so dissapointed. this guy will never be Superman.

I'm done with this f***** show.

Honestly I thought he just meant that maybe he can have both, after seeing Danny have a family but still risking his life everyday, he seemed reassured that he didn't have to be completely alone to be a hero.

And we know Lana is leaving, i don't get all the resolve that the last 4 mins means he'll never be Superman. He does get to have it all one day, and he can't give up the idea that he can be happy personally and still save the world--its just that person he's happy with won't be Lana, but the idea is the same.

Exactly. That's what I gathered to be the entire purpose of that last scene with Dan.

Wow, overreact much?
It was an open ended scene, that i'm sure we're going to get some sort of closure to next episode.
There was a scene specifically about Clark and Lois and how it's obvious he has feelings for her. He was obviously thinking about it.
He didn't mention stopping saving people. He just reinforced his opinion by seeing Dan's life that he can both save the world, and have a family.

my only negative comment is this: When Lana and Mercy had their fight, they most certainly SHOULD NOT have been wearing winter clothing. For pete's sake, have the producers forgotten how to deliver a proper cat fight?

otherwise, everything about this episode was solid. Even the kiss at the end. Yes, annoying that Lana and Clark are again being ******ed, just now the roles are reversed. But clearly this is part of a road bump on the path to Lois and Clark... pretty obvious given the conversation b/w Chloe and Clark.

great epi, just when I was getting sick of every guest character on the show 'inspiring' Clark on his journey to superman, and just starting to wonder when Clark was going to start inspiring new heroes, just as his peers have encouraged him.

(PS. For a moment, I truely thought that the hooker was Lana in disguise... had a serious OMG sweet... and then it just turned out to be a regular background hooker... go figure)

Problem is Lois comes off looking like second choice(unless Clark is the one to call it quits before Lana leaves, given the producers love of the almighty Lana, I am guessing that won't happen)

Yep which ****ing pisses me of to no end, Lois is his great love not Lana. Lana was just that girl from home, while Lois was the one.

yea even though i may hate lana and that ending scene we dont know how she is leaving in two episodes and how they end romantic clana. So we should only ***** after episode 14 is over and we know where they stand if it was done bad.

Lord...clark just cant get over lana..no matter what:(

A great episode runied in 5 minutes

My distain with this episode has nothing to do with the fact that Clark's trying to have a life aswell as balancing the superhero gig. i applaud that, but WHY LANA!!?. Whenever he's in a scene with her, he reverts back to a 15 yr old again, talking about putting her first before the world & acting all soppy. The show immediatly reverts back to Clark kents Creek. He knows he has feeling's for Lois yet didn't even hesitate in kissing Lana, WTF?. This is Superman??, are you sure?. Morals out the window. When he's with lois, he's proactive, confident, strong, funny, the chemistry is incredible. Look i know Lana won't last since she's gone in 2 eps but why did they have to reignite thier feeling's for each other?. Can't they be friends for like 5 f***** minutes?. I'm sorry but everytime she's in an episode Clark goes from taking 10 steps forward to 40 steps back. I'm over it.

^^ You need to chill out a bit, in two episodes it will be over.... but get ready for the angsty crap they will do with Clois, if there's a S9, Clois will be full of lies and angst SV style.

Guys, just think for one second. When Clark and Lana were kissing, didn't it seem like the way they were kissing and after they kissed that it seemed like there weren't any sparks anymore between them. Just the way they looked at each other after they kissed, it seems as if they were kissing a complete stranger. Remember, Lana only has 2 episodes left, and I think that kiss was a sign of Clark and Lana not have strong feelings for each other anymore. I mean there has to be something HUGE that makes both of them seperate for good after that scene! I'm not giving up on the show yet just because of that scene, I have faith that the writers are just forshadowing the big finish for the Clana relationship.:yay:

YEa i hope it is a sign he sees the spark with lana is gone and hopefully at the end of episode 14 he tells her that he cant be with her any more cause he has other feelings and they end romantic feelings for good.

I didn't like the way Clark dismissed his feelings for Lois when he was talking to Chloe. There has to be something there between them since they almost kissed in Bride. I hope Lois makes him all jealous when she comes back. Or at least give a kick in the head...

well i didnt take that scene as a total diss on lois he just dont know how he really feels about her and all that.

So I take it else no one else liked the devolution of Clark at the end of the episode? I really don't know why they keep doing this to him...
