yea it sucks that is all that happens with clark when he is with lana since like season 4/5. Hopefully they have a good send off in two episodes with lana so it makes clark look good and not a fool.

Not ruined but a bit handicapped by the last 5, it was still great.

To me it was ruined, I mean didnt he say something like forget the world I just want you. Something along those lines? I mean how greedy can you get and havent we already gone through this already.

My distain with this episode has nothing to do with the fact that Clark's trying to have a life aswell as balancing the superhero gig. i applaud that, but WHY LANA!!?. Whenever he's in a scene with her, he reverts back to a 15 yr old again, talking about putting her first before the world & acting all soppy. The show immediatly reverts back to Clark kents Creek. He knows he has feeling's for Lois yet didn't even hesitate in kissing Lana, WTF?. This is Superman??, are you sure?. Morals out the window. When he's with lois, he's proactive, confident, strong, funny, the chemistry is incredible. Look i know Lana won't last since she's gone in 2 eps but why did they have to reignite thier feeling's for each other?. Can't they be friends for like 5 f***** minutes?. I'm sorry but everytime she's in an episode Clark goes from taking 10 steps forward to 40 steps back. I'm over it.

I guess I thought this episode was all right. I was actually laughing out loud at more than a few parts of it (but that's probably due to watching it with my roommate who always loves to have a good laugh at the cheesier or less coherent parts of SV). It took effort to remember why anyone would've written in the Daily Planet about Lana's return... oh, right, former Mrs Luthor and head of that Isis Foundation (which I feel was never properly explored... what importance does that place have to Metropolis? Does anybody really care? Or know?) Danny trying to cheer up his son after his little fall was... just hilarious. That shot of him moving the toy ambulance... I had to rewind it. Twice. I

was certain by the end of the episode... that I'm looking forward to finding out what Lana was doing in her time away, and then even more eagerly looking forward to her final episode. Nothing against the actress, oh no, but Lana... I'm quite over Lana. Send her on her merry, mousy way.

Can we talk for a few minutes about how damn fine Clark was looking this episode? Funny that Lana should make mention of Clark's maturation in wardrobe... he's needed it. He looks fantastic in that long sleeve white/short sleeve grey combo. The hair was looking superbly more and more like Superman. And that outfit at the end? Gall-dang, grrl... I want that coat. The whole ensemble was... scrumptrulescent.

Problem is Lois comes off looking like second choice(unless Clark is the one to call it quits before Lana leaves, given the producers love of the almighty Lana, I am guessing that won't happen)

Lois is Clark's second choice. She has always been his second choice.

again: Lana was always the life Clark could have had IMO, had he not been Kryptonian. Given his earlier view on life ('I'm a freak, I wanna be normal'), she is clearly the representation of what he could have been, had he been normal.

Lois is his second choice. But the Clark we see now, is not the Clark that chooses Lois. That Clark is a different person. Once he fully outs himself, accepting not only his destiny, as put in earlier seasons, but also accepting who he is as a person, Clark should be very different. The only woman in that fully self actualized Clark's eyes should be for is Lois.

Guys, just think for one second. When Clark and Lana were kissing, didn't it seem like the way they were kissing and after they kissed that it seemed like there weren't any sparks anymore between them. Just the way they looked at each other after they kissed, it seems as if they were kissing a complete stranger. Remember, Lana only has 2 episodes left, and I think that kiss was a sign of Clark and Lana not have strong feelings for each other anymore. I mean there has to be something HUGE that makes both of them seperate for good after that scene! I'm not giving up on the show yet just because of that scene, I have faith that the writers are just forshadowing the big finish for the Clana relationship.

Lana is aware they're not meant to be together, while Clark is the one going after her. It looks like Lana is the one who's going to tell Clark that is not going to work and then Clark will have no choice but to agree. It reflects bad on him, but I'm not going to get irrational about it like some and say he can't be Superman, is just a weak moment, but he will move on and become Supes and love Lois by the series end. People seem to forget Superman is not perfect either.

In Smallville, it seems to be the Lois chooses Clark. I can hope that Superman chooses Lois. But I kind of view that as a moot point. They both have to want to be with each other, it doesn't really matter who makes that decision first.

I thought it was a decent episode, I mean a lot was going on. In fact a little too much. John Jones is not around a lot, and I hope that when he is on, they would have more than 2 quick scenes with him. Dan Turpin was good, and I wished Oliver might introduce Hamilton to Clark, but whatever.

When I see those Clana sees, I see Lana telling Clark that the world needs him more, and she is willing to move on from him. Clark not so much. So I can't blame Lana for anything. Its Clark is the one who finally needs to realize that they are definetly not meant to be.

Her dropping that bomb on Tess was basically a webcam for Lex was pretty good too.

I watched every episode of Smallville the night they released, but when I read that this episode and the next few are supposed to basically be Lana and Clark and random filler ********, I didn't even bother watching it yesterday.

I'm just so sick and tired of this Lana Clark thing. It's like the Ross Rachel thing, only infintley times more hokey and stupid. Especially since it's destined by not only the comics, but the Legion themselves that Lois and Clark are going to get together, it's like just get rid of her already.

and I hated that WB is blowing Kreuk by giving her fight scenes just because she's in that BS Street Fighter movie....ABC did the same crap when Garner was doing Alias and she filmed Daredevil during the summer, they gave her some fight scene with sais in some office she was breaking into.....

Not sure what to make of this episode. The cop stuff was fine, for the most part. Didn't know that was Dan Turpin until towards the end. The youth probably threw me off.

Glad Ollie nailed Clark's guilt and blame trips routine.

Probably just me, but Welling's delivery of the guilt trip dialogue didn't sound right.

"Cops have rules, Capes don't." Nice homage to the comics, but it doesn't make any sense since none of the mentioned heroes in the show have been seen wearing capes.

Clark encouraging the young Turpin was very Superman-esque and really the main aspect that makes this episode worthwhile. The Lana/Tess stuff didn't interest me much, though Lex putting a nano camera in Tess' eyes is hilarious.

"What if the rest of the world doesn't have to come first." What!

I thought Clark's interaction with Turpin, and his determination to prove the good in him was incredibly Supes-like. And Turpin's feelings on GA and "capes" in general was a great foreshadowing to the conflict that will develop once Superman arrives. Amazing stuff.

.....But that last scene.....ugh.......really?

I agree. Whole heartedly. The episode was particularly strong. I would have preferred to see more of Phil Morris, given that he's only in a few episodes. But I loved it. Granted, the last scene aggravated me quite a bit, but not enough to put a damper on the episode for me.

As for people claiming it's a filler episode, did you even watch it?
It continues the Lex/Tess arc, it builds on the Clark/Ollie tension and need for teamwork. It allows Clark to go all reporter and detective, which was a nice progression to see him proactively try and solve a case. And lets not forget the underlying themes of why to risk being heroic.

Wasn't nearly as "filler" as something like Toxic.

... The producers of Smallville have -always- given Kristin ridiculous "Lanafu" fight scenes. Since like season 2.

There was nothing fillery about it. Clark's interaction with the Metropolis Police Department is vital to the Superman story; the relationship between heroes like Superman and the regular joes who go out and protect the city through the bounds of the law. And I thought the way they handled it was stellar. This episode was so very different from usual SV stories, to me. They really made Metropolis, the city, come alive in a whole new way.

Not to mention, the whole thing with Clark, Oliver, and John realizing how they all need to lean on one another as heroes? I thought that was a really powerful moment. Nothing corny about it.

Seeing Clark in such a different setting, facing an issue like this? It was very poignant. And nearly everything was executed to the tee. Heck, even the Tess/Lana stuff came to a great conclusion with Tess severing herself from Lex.

Of course, that final scene still annoys me to no end. I really wanted to see how Clark and Lana could pursue a true friendship, and push forward into a new aspect of their relationship. But this is like pressing rewind on the tape for the 1,000th time.

I'm personally sick of hearing Clark always blaming himself for everything that goes wrong all the time. Everytime there's a scene with someone in hospital I know Clarks gonna say something stupid like, "If it wasn't for me she/he wouldn't be here, it's all my fault chloe". It's become so preditable & stupid now that it really turns me off of episodes that try to be good. He's written as a weak character, then a strong character, then back to weak again. he's inconsistant & annoying. Give me SUPERMAN already.

Didn't the "red/blue blur" make the front page of the Daily Planet? With a street full of witnesses?

I could have done w/o that whole subplot, but that's just me. I guess I'm just really starting to miss Lois. Whether it's intentional or not, I believe she brings out the best in Clark. He's focused, proactive, and confident when working with her. Other characters, not so much. Their flirty behavior is just icing on the cake. There's no angst, and the only "secrets and lies" are their growing feelings for each other and Clark's very super abilities.

The beginning of the season was so entertaining. It was fresh and chock full of fun moments. In contrast, the episodes after the break have felt like a total regress to last year, which is quite a bummer. I look forward to the closure of this mid-season story arc involving Lana, Tess, Lex, and Oliver and hope we can get back to where the fun was.

Not true my friend. If Lana was written the way she should be written at this point in Clarks life ala as a good friend who can contribute to episodes every now & then ala Chloe, then we'd be happy to have her stick around, but one minute she doesn't love clark, then she marries lex, then she loves clark again, then she's supposedly dead, then she's not, then she kidnaps ppl, then she has clarks power. Lana is an annoying character with no purpose anymore, that's why the negativity is at an all time high. Either write her well or send her packin, don't ruin a good season with Lana ********.

I liked this episode and feel Season 8's been pretty solid overall actually.
