8.19 - Stiletto - Discussion Thread (Spoilers)

Just got to watch and have to say I really enjoyed this episode!

The Clark and Lois banter is always so perfect. Clark faking pain when Lois brought him breakfast was hysterical!

I also enjoyed that little look Lois gave to Clark when she ate his food. it was too cute!

Yeah I really hope that Lois is more prominent next season. Having her and Clark at the Planet working side by side is so refreshing. It's almost like an entirely different show.

I have to agree. It's nice having 1 character on the show have a somewhat normal relationship with Clark. All the "in need to know your secret/what make Clark's so special" storylines in early season got so redundant.

If they plan to do full blown Clois as well it's probably better that Lois is in more episodes so the audience can get into it. With her being in 1 episode and not the next, it feels a little choppy

maybe Smallville will just take a realistic approach to the whole thing and not have the citizens of Metropolis be mental midgets who are fooled by a simple pair of glasses on a guy trying to hide the fact he's Superman.

This could very well be their plan. Sort of not do the glasses thing at all.

There was certainly a sign of that in this episode when a full blown mask on Lois did nothing to hide who she was from Jimmy or Clark.

Clark's line about that was fantastic BTW.

I'm not sure how I felt about this episode...I think I would need to watch it again to be sure, but the whole thing didnt seem to run smoothly. It all felt very patchy and out of order.

:csad:

I see what you mean. How did Clark get out of going to the hospital for instance. You'd think Lois and Jimmy would've insisted on it.

Unfortunately there is something like this in almost every episode of the show. I've just become acustomed to dismissing them I guess.

  I think thats why I enjoyed it so much, soooo refreshing from the last 7 years.

That was one of the few scenes that bothered me. I figured Clark just had one of Olie's paid physicians give everyone a song and dance about how he operated on Clark and everything is fine now.

I really liked the underlining message of how Lois truly crossed the line and you know that in the future she'll only stick to the facts.

Great episode.

same here. I tend to look the other way and go "lalalala. I'm ignoring the plot holes!"

I would of hoped he said Dr.Hamilton said he was fine.

I loved the whole "Can you read my mind" line. nice reference to the movie!

I dug the episode a lot! The "interview" was great and everything Lois and Clark do on the show is aces for me. Also like how they brought in Intergang and Ugly Mannheim. Would've been cool if they referenced Morgan Edge though.

And of course I need to bring up the wormhole that connects Smallville to Metropolis! I wish they'd just have Chloe living in the Isis building rather than the Talon. (Seriously, what's the point of having the Talon as a location anymore? The thing's always closed anyway.)

And apparently, according to this ep, Metropolis -> Smallville is only 20 minutes now? Say what?

yea the whole metropolis/smallville distance has gotten screwed around with so much in the shows history. Heck i kinda wish they left the normal comics/past incarnations location in tack you know met on the east coast, and smallville in in ks where it is.

I was just wondering the other day if the Talon was still in business or if Chloe just uses the apartment. I really like this episode myself. I like how Clark kinda got to see that no matter how much he tries to protect the people he cares about they're still gonna find trouble that has nothing to do with him. Not sure if I said that how I want to so I hope everybody understands what I'm saying. I also like how they implied(spelling) Doomsdays blood being on Chloe's hands. I guess the only thing I didn't like was the Jimmy is hooked on drugs/pain medicen(spelling).

This is a perfect point. And kind of why Smallville had a slump the last few years before this one. As far as I'm concerned, it became a "different show" as soon as Johnathan was dead and Martha was no longer a main cast member for every episode.

It was no longer the story of a family dealing with how to protect their little secret and help clark develop his powers.

It's like they didn't know where they were going for a couple years. like a bad transitional period.

That didnt bother me, Lois did say he only had a flesh wound, so that was enough covering of the subject for me. Too many details bore the bejeezes out of me.

I did enjoy it more the second time around and found it less confusing, green kryptonite money and all. :whatever:

I was thinking about that too. What if the K-counterfeit money was in circulation in Metropolis? Would be funny to see how he reacts everytime money is exchanged and he passes out or something.:oldrazz:

Good episode. Erica Durance was great in this one and looks incredibly hotter each episode!

Also, the last scene where Clark is on the rooftop at night, I really liked that shot,
his red jacket really stood at night, exactly the type of red color which they should have used for Superman Returns.

Nevermind though, the next Superman should look to Smallville's night scenes for inspiration on working in the red and blue colors.

The Smallville film crew deserve a pat on the back for their job on these scenes, very well done!

I actually thought that the fake money was what Jimmy used to buy his stash with at the end. :wow:
