time travel is suck a confusing and fickle thing to follow at times. I for one go with the idea where when clark traveled back in time his future mind was placed into his past body so that is why two clarks are not there.

Wow, this show makes me sad. I used to love it, but it has slowly descended into a pit of suck-titude. And last night was the final straw.

Smallville writers: GO WATCH AN EPISODE OF "LOST."


Good Lord there is so much more I want to say, but got a train to catch.

The writers for this show have given up.......................... and they've been signed for another season?!?

Man this show makes me sad.

You're really sad, you watch a fantasy show about a man who has superpowers, an alien monster, and here you are whining about time travel? Really? For real?

I think it has more to do with the way its implemented into the story lets face it Smallville has never handled the concept of time travel well and they tend to use it as a plot device along with memory wipes. For the most part I hated this episode as well and found it to be irrelevant (Just mere filler) and again someone that knows Clarks secret bites the dirt now isn’t that convenient.

I was glad to see that Smallville popped back on my DVR this week. I had completely forgotten about Linda Lake and could've cared less about her character but it was fitting to have her. Once she showed up though I was reminded that Chloe was the ace reporter back then and I got side-tracked trying to think what exactly does Chloe "do" now. Anyway the first half of the ep was sort of hard to watch because it was incredibly cheezy. Only in a dream sequence would everyone just embrace Clark like that. I'm not so sure the entire city would leap for joy that some alien dude has been secretly living among us.

The time travel crap has really been overdone on this show but hey, it's no different than the overuse of mindswipes so whatever. I hated the last scene w/ Clark & Lois. Clark just came off as some jerk to me there. He completely did a 180 because they had just showed him going out of his way to pick Lois up from the airport which established that he really felt bad for not being there for her earlier. Why flip the script like that?

I assumed he didn't meet Lois because he knows how he feels about her and can't really start a relationship with her until he finds a way to be himself and still be able to have a normal life. He's seen with Lana what keeping his secret can do in a relationship and he saw how his friends and family were affected when he came out to the world--and he's seen how people are put in danger by knowing his secret. So, he has little choice but to put whatever they have on hold until he can find a way to have a personal life and still manage to save the world and be open and honest with her. Until he has a full dual identity a relationship with Lois isn't fair.

Did anyone consider that maybe time reversed around Clark when he put the ring on instead of him just jumping back into time?

That is a good idea and much better than popping up in an already stable time period. (If anyone reads Booster Gold, especially Geoff John's issues they have a wonderful take on time travel in the DCU. You can go back and try to change things but you will always fail because the events are already written. All that changes is the fact that you were there.)

Time travel is often ridiculous & contradictory. Examples:
If John Connor's efforts to stop Judgement Day are ever successful, then he should disappear with noone-not even his mother-remembering that he ever existed.
TMNT 3-it was baffling what they would lose when they got zapped & what they would bring with them. April lost her clothes but kept her walkman? The Turtles kept their weapons?
Superman-I'm not sure how flying around the world really fast would alter its rotation, nor how that would effect time. But then why was it so selective? All the damage from the earthquake was magically erased, as if it never happened. So how come everybody remembers it happening? Why was noone freaked out when the damage was erased?
Back To The Future-Marty shouldn't remember his father being a wimp & all the other stuff that never happened as a result of his initial jaunt, should he?

Hate to tell you, Spider-Man wasn't the first one to do that either.

In Sci-fi and comics, there are rarely original ideas and plots.

What other superhero outed his identity, was met with that kind of backlash & then put the genie back in the bottle like that?

I didn't like the fact that all Linda Lake had to do was just say he was responsible for terrible things, and apparently for some reason, everyone believed her. What proof did she even have, and how did she get it? For the amount of ridiculousness in her accusations, you think they'd need some kind of basis.
"Yeah, and he also gave birth to Hitler"
She might as well have thrown that one in there.

Absurd but not entirely implausible. I've always thought that was how the world would really react to Superman. Why should we trust him? Especially after the way he's kept his existence hidden for all these years?

the episode had lots of nice moments but overall was pretty poorly executed. they crammed far too much into it. kind of highlights the problems with the show that they could improve on. something like this could have made a great two part episode and been paced a little better with more exploration of the worlds reaction to a Superman. it also highlighted the fact the Lois needs to be a much bigger character in the show. she brings out the best of what we love about Superman and Durance and Welling also bring the best out of each other onscreen.

I liked the episode, if not for the Lana referances(spelling) you would never think that there was the super Lana episodes. At the end in my head I was like got get her Clark, then after he starts to walk off I was like dumb ***. And since I've been watching all three Back To The Future movies I was like shouldn't Clark have ran into his self. But that was just because of BTTF and didn't bother me at all. I also want more Lois and I also think they kinda hinted that Lois in the end will never play second fiddle to Lana.

One thing that I wish someone had pointed out was that Lois is the first person Clark willingly told his secret to. Lois looked disappointed to learn that Lana and Chloe already knew his secret. What he should have told her, though, is that he never actually wanted to tell any of them who he really was.

Actually Clark did tell Lana of his own free will. Despite the fact that she knew before he knew she did, doesn't negate his own initiative in wanting to be the one to tell her

Well at least he didnt use it for personal gain this time either. I see there's been some comments as to why he didnt go back and change what happened with Lana and the k-bomb, but he's already learned that bigger things happen when you mess with time for personal reasons.

This time he used it for the benefit of the World.

I knew that his fame wasn't going to last. IMO he could have still told Lois and have a story released after he got rid of Linda Lake. If it wasn't for her ******ed story about him being the "1st wave of alien invasion" and the other junk the people wouldn't have turned.

I think the episode was about having a glimpse of what his life would be like if the World knew about him, and what he should do different next time to make sure that every thing turns out just the way it should.

So you mean she's been spying on everyone of Clark's friends? Or did she somehow knew there was something different about just Davis? And he's been away for some time too.
