well he ran away from the scene at the end of TDK. he wasn't limping or anything. and in 8 years, he hasn't healed? or gone to a hospital? i feel like that was sloppy. i understand the 'not needing to be Batman' thing, though.

I personally got the message that his "injuries" were more psychological than physical. Bruce used to live with the pain of his work back when he had purpose, then he let it overcome him when he had none.
