Only on the internet could you have an opinion and blasted for it......
You make stuff up. Literally had no idea what you were talking about. Still don't. If you are going to state an "opinion" that is factually wrong, you will get called out for it in real life and on the net.

I am not a fan of people who talk out of their behind. :yay:

What are you talking about? Your being childish and annoying just be it because I dont like the same things you do. People can have different opinions my fueher

No, if you said stuff like this out in the real world, I'm pretty sure you'd be blasted for it too.

Like what you want. But if you are going to use gross for why a movie should be nominated for an Oscar, you are going to get called out. Especially when you start blaming the state of the Oscars on a "Hollywood Movie" you have never seen, that is British made. You came in with a childish, "me, me, me" argument and got called out for it. Now you are feeling attacked. Well Amy's Baking Company of posters, that isn't how it works.

I am not a fan of people who talk out of their behind. I complain about the Oscars plenty, but for actual reasons. I don't make stuff up just to complain about. You and Super T on the other hand seem like pros at that.

How am I making it up the academy doesnt like bigger movies and only awards the smaller movies year after year. Go on any article and social media page and there countless people saying the same thing I. Its a stigma deal with it, christ jada smith just came out with a video asking people to boycott the oscars because of the black issue

I made stuff up because I said I didn't like or prefer a specific director(s) or don't get the hype or praise around them?! Or that I wished the Academy would acknowledge a wider, more diverse range of movies and actors? (just to clarify, by wider, diverse range I do not mean blockbusters or giving movies awards based on gross. That's ridiculous.)

I'm lost on that one.

They don't like bigger movies? So I guess Avatar didn't win BP years back? I must've imagined that then. Some smaller movie must've won.

So which is it then that you're upset with?

Look, the core of your argument in this thread was a movie broke box office records and should therefore be a shoe in for a Best Picture nod. The Academy looks for different things than populist appeal when it comes award time. Yes, their diversity problem needs addressed, but fanboy zeal over an apparent Star Wars snub is not a legitimate issue with this years Oscars. Was TFA a decent flick? Yes. Was it one of the best movies of the year? The Academy and many, many others say no.

Here is my problem with what you said. You labelled stuff as traditional and repetitive, which clearly isn't. You don't have to like the Coens or Wes Anderson, but what you labelled them as was clearly false. You used them to complain about the Oscars. Then you brought up The Imitation Game and Brooklyn saying you are tired of seeing the same faces, when that clearly doesn't apply to either of theirs films and their creatives that went into.

People love to say weird stuff here, and then act like they are being attacked of their opinion. There is a different between opinion and saying stuff like that.

He's saying you made stuff up because you said the Coens and Anderson make Oscar bait and "been there, done that" sorts of movies. Nothing could be further from the truth. If the films of those filmmakers don't appeal to you that's perfectly fine, but what you said about them specifically doesn't hold up.

They awarded three 'big movies'. The Martian, The Revenant and Fury Road.

the hype in a nutshell right there ^

Because it is 100% not true. Avatar, Toy Story 3, Inception, Fury Road, the LotR, etc. Just because others talk out of their backside and complain about the Oscars as well, doesn't make your argument any better.

And Jada Smith being wrong has nothing to do with your original argument. And when I say she is wrong, I am talking about this year's awards.

I said a great well made movie like star wars that made a trillion dollars should get nominated if crap like avatar did as a comparison. You didnt take the time to read and just saw blockbuster and money and went to the tired transformers line of just because it makes money its not good look at transformers.... the academy cant pretend a space opera that was well loved by critics and fans and setting box office records in the process doesnt exist. That is what I said how interpret that or twist is your own I really dont care.

The academy has bigger fish to fry now then star wars anyway by cutting out all black actors and movies but having a blackman host.

Exactly Matt Mortem. Thank you.

They disagreed. Also, TFA wasn't that great. If you're only gonna pick a handful of the best movies out of an entire year TFA is pretty low on that list.

There are a lot more factors at work than racism as to why there were no black nominees.
1) Beast of No Nation wasn't going to be nominated because Netflix came out and said they made this movie just to win an Oscar. That's not something you're supposed to say out loud. Sure everyone wants an Oscar but they dressed it with 'love of the art form'. It's like saying you are only with your significant other for the sex. We all understand that's why you are with them but you don't say it out loud.

2) Straight out of Compton was a good movie but I never saw it as being Oscar caliber. It also had no buzz...no one was talking about the direction or performances.

3) Creed. It was a better film than SOC in my opinion but again....who other than Stallone gave an Oscar worthy performance.

4) Will Smith's Concussion movie. I didn't see this movie on the basis of Will Smith's silly accent.

Of the films that I saw that were nominated for Best Pic...The Revenant stayed with me. I liked Mad Max and The Martian...but The Revenant was just a better film from top to bottom on every film that came out.

I never brought up Transformers. That was Schlosser85. You bring up critics. How many critics have named Star Wars their best film of the year?

I love how you changed this to race because you have been run off by facts. Keep digging that hole. :funny:

Pretty much summed up my feelings on it. Michael B Jordan was good in Creed, but his performance wasn't as powerful or transcendent as so many others this year. I do think that Coogler should have gotten a Best Director nod though. He took a movie and story that could have been pretty lame and made a fantastic movie out of it.

That's fine, and I can understand the viewpoint. I guess we'll have to agree to disagree with it.

Avatar never won best picture, the hurt locker beat it for best picture as well as bigelow beating Cameron for director..... nice try though

It would make my top 10. I love it, and it is my favorite film from last year. But it isn't Best Picture worthy, which is why I don't, mind it not being nominated.

Beast of No Nation I have not seen, and thus I cannot comment on. I have heard good things though. The rest just aren't Oscar worthy imo. Not even Sly from Creed. I feel like this was the worst year to complain about this stuff. I was even annoyed with the Daily Show for bringing it up. Especially as everyone complaining seems to ignore the fact that other minorities are getting play. The front runner for BP and director is once again Mexican.

My mistake then I meant to say it was nominated though.

which is fine in the long run because we all know star wars will be the one thing remembered from this year when we look back and talk.
