Hell yeah! Mad Max getting nominated for best picture and Tom Hardy is finally getting a nomination.

I'm really shocked that Inside Out didn't get nominated for Best Picture.
Why is it 8 nominations anyway? Shouldn't it be 10?

Who the heck knows? Maybe they think it will "dilute the brand" or some other malarkey.

Same, although if he was gonna finally get a nom, he's had other roles that were more deserving than The Revenant, IMO.

These nominations...

Surprised that Fast and Furious song didn't get nominated.

I have a feeling Ruffalo is going to pull an upset over Sly.

Also, I don't care how good the song is, 50 Shades of Grey has no business being on that list :o

I think think you have to have a certain percentage of the votes to be eligible.

I'm really upset that the only person to get any recognition from Creed is Stallone. Really?!

If it wins razzies and an oscar, hilarity shall ensue. 50 Shades, I mean.

"Earned It" is not going to be winning. LOL

I really want Sly to get it just because it would be awesome for him to get one. I don't care how impressive everyone else was, this is the Rocky fanboy talking. :o

The Scott snub is stunning. That means the Director race is between two auteurs who have both won Oscars before, one of whom just won last year. Will be a very fun category. Both Iñárritu and Miller are equally deserving.

Not sold that The Revenant (a film I loved, mind you) is taking the top prize. My gut says The Big Short, right or wrong.

I wouldn't be bummed about either Miller or Inarritu winning, honestly, though I'd be tempted to give it to Miller.

Just give George Miller, Ennio Morricone, and Sylvester Stallone their Oscars, and we're good.

Well, no real surprises among the big six categories besides Hardy being nominated for The Revenant, which is deserved, IMO. Also nice to see Star Wars get a nomination for editing, as it was very well-paced. The biggest snub to me is The Hateful Eight not getting a writing nod. "See You Again" should've been nominated for Best Original Song. Star Wars also could have gotten a few more, like Costume Design and Makeup. Besides that, I think it seems pretty fair.

My predictions:

Best Picture: The Revenant (though I'd love it if The Martian won)
Best Actor: Leonardo DiCaprio (it's his to lose)
Best Actress: Brie Larson (haven't seen Room, but it's also hers to lose)
Best Supporting Actor: Sylvester Stallone (I think we all want this to happen)
Best Supporting Actress: Alicia Vikander
Best Director: Alejandro G. Inarritu (but it should really be Miller)

Nice to see Hardy and Ruffalo get nominated.
