Are people actually speculating that Stallone could be nominated AND win?

Did you see Creed? His hype is very much earned.

Okay, if Stallone gets nominated and/or wins, I'll eat crow. :yay:

Nah, I'm still collecting that receipt after he is nominated. I don't know about winning, but it would be a snub if he ain't nominated tho. Believe that.

Knock. Knock.

Pay the rent and eat crow.

Better have my money.

Ryan Coogler should have been in that category (and Creed for best picture), it's just mind boggling that he didn't get it yet Adam McKay got one.

The Big Short's success is very much a project of the direction. It's the sort of movie that you watch and actually think about the director. I would have swapped Coogler and Scott in for the Room guy and McCarthy. As great as Spotlight was, and I'm sure McCarthy had a big part in that, the strength lay in the script and cast.

I thought his direction was just sloppy and unfocused.

I guess that just comes down to personal taste, and that's ultimately what it all comes down to.

And add me to the list of those waiting for Rocketman to come eat crow. But I'm sure it's gonna be a long, long time....

He's already eaten crow in regards to SW 7's box office. He said it would make 3 billion. Now it's unclear if it would even surpass Titanic's BO.

He's eaten crow several times since he joined the Hype.

Have you seen Anomalisa? It won't win but it is a fantastic film both in craft and in the story it tells. It would be great to see the category opened up to something besides CG Pixar films.

Anyways

I hope as they did with Gravity the Academy gives Miller the award out of recognition that he did something basically no one else would or could do.

They've been much more open to Picture/Director splits.

That said it would be incredible for it to win picture. It won't but goddamn if something like Spotlight wins it will be ridiculous. Fury Road is basically the definition of "cinematic."

You know honestly, that is what i love about the Oscar nomination times, i now want to watch all these films that i would've never heard of before the Oscar noms.

Imma check that Anomalisa out.

Elba deserved a nomination for Beasts of No Nation

Looks like Bale has gone from the guy who never gets nominated to the guy puzzlingly racking up noms in one stride.

The Revenant, which I have not seen, will probably win all of the major awards because of the people involved.

Last year was slightly more understandable. There weren't really many options, just Selma, which really wasn't all that great beyond Olyewo's performance. This year you've got Compton, Creed, Beasts of No Nation, and Benico del Toro all getting painfully snubbed.

This year will be a hard one for anyone to find a way to justify. I'll be shocked if anyone even tries to.

I love J.Law dearly, but from everything I've heard about Joy (haven't seen it yet), I really think the Academy needs to hop off her d*** for awhile. She doesn't need to be Meryl Streep'd at 25. Like, enough. Her farts don't taste like cotton candy.

I think the surest bet is Stallone winning for Creed. It's like what they did with Return of the King. Kinda lifetime achievement award.
