9.03 - Rabid - Discussion Thread (Spoilers)

Why does Chloe have to plead with Clark to do the right thing even if that means exposing himself to Zod ? I thought Clark was beyond the need of Chloe advice . I'm getting sick of Chloe directing Clark to do the right thing , she been guiding him for 5 seasons straight (Season 4-8) now . It's time for Superman to act on his own without her help .

considering Clark still takes orders and advice form uberpowerful Jor-el[who is comeing back this season] I don't see the logic behind you arguement.

Since when does pleading equal Chloe dictating Clark's actions again? We don't even know in what context this statment means. Wait until episode, besides we obviously know Clark and Chloe aren't agreeing with each other as well as aren't on the same page for a couple of episodes and I don't see Clark listening to Chloe's pleading when he's still anti-humanity at this point.

Since that's how it's been portrayed from the very beginning when Chloe became the barer of Clark's secret .

Yes, I know that, but like I said, we really don't know how Clark will react just because he's listened to Chloe in the past before. Clark's not gonna let his emotions get in the way again and we already know Clark is gonna save the day in the end with or without Chloe's pleading. We can't always assume something will happen the way we think based off a small description, especially when we know those CW descriptions aren't always accurate descriptions.

Did you seriously just compare the Patriarch, Deus-Ex-Machima, All-Knowing, Omnipotent, trainer that is Jor-El to the whiny know-it-all Chloe?

Thats the thing about Jor-el he can take away clarks powers at anytime, but yet he created The Orb:huh:. He can reverse time, and see the future, yet he lets brainiac currupt his systems. He can do almost anything, but only when the story calls for it.:whatever:

well brainiac was a highly advance person. He could have easily overrided the fos systems.

True enough. Jor-El has been able to send Clark back in time, put Clark in an alternate reality simulation... limitless powers, except for when the stories call for him/The Fortress to be vulnerable or fallible.

Think about everytime he's taken away Clark's powers or when he reversed time and how it was meant to teach Clark lessons and Chloe still couldn't learn (even do this day when she asked Clark to reverse time to save Jimmy). And he PREDICTS the future, he doesn't SEE the future. And there are only so many variables the FOS Jor-El can sort through. Remember, he's a simulation not a God. If the FOS is a Supercomputer and Brainiac is the most advanced Kryptonian Supercomputer, ergo FOS=Home PC and Brainiac=CIA Computer.

Why is that Clark simply can't avoid being owned by women? Lana, Lois, Chloe, Tess.

Come on.

Because women represent what Clark needs/wants most - A real sense of belonging ,REAL human interaction .
In his own words He's always felt different ,like he doesn't really belong on some level.

Would anyone else be happy if we heard these two things in this series:

Even though you’ve been raised as a human being,
You are not one of them
They can be a great people Kal-el, they wish to be
They only lack the Light to show the Way
For this reason above all, their capacity for good
I have sent them You, my only Son.

You will make my strength your own.
You will see my life through your eyes,
As your life will be seen through mine.
The son becomes the father
And the father becomes the son.

I was actually watching Superman I and SR today and was thinking about those lines and how different Brando's Jor-El sounds from Stamp's Jor-El.

It would be cool to hear that at some point, the first group of lines at least, but I kinda feel like that should've been used for when Clark first went to the fortress. Although I think they could get away with it by having it in the series finale when we finally see Clark finish his training and become Superman.

But still, I think hearing those lines might give some people the wrong impression in having them think that SV is linked to the films in some way.

I would hope they'd be a bit more imaginative than Bryan Singer and not just copy dialogue verbatim from a 30 year old movie.

I didn't mean for it to be a copy but more of a nod to the films and Marlon Brando. We've had Christopher Reeve on the show and Williams even reused some of his music in Season 2. So why not this?

Simple answer

Because you have a show that is basically targetted at a female demographic more then a male one. In order to attract that female demo you have to build up the females characters bigger then the should be and dumb down the male character in question for that female character so the female demo that relates to female character X feels happy that Clark is so dependant on that character.

For Lana, Clark is written as an emotional basketcase who is constantly depressed because he "loves" Lana so much(Tru Luv 4Eva)

For Chloe, Clark is dumbed down so Chloe helps him more then any character should, and they also have her save him
