Same here. Seeing Annette O'Toole back on the set, with Welling, not to mention Durance back-to-back with Michael "Perry White" McKean himself... it's all just so awesome. Kinda hard to put into words.

Meh, it don't bother me.

It could prove to be an interesting twist, as it's sure to be temporary. Perry gained a respect for Clark the last time he was in Smallville, and said he would always be there if Clark needed anything.

Martha and Perry dating will have no effect on the Perry/Clark relationship in the future.

she is a U.S. senator, I dont think she will be living alone on a farm LOL

nice additional photos of lois, clark, perry, and martha. As for martha being a senator by the end of the show. They could always come out and say she retires or doesnt run for another term and returns to the farm.

I have a feeling she will retire by the end of the series and will return to the farm. I mean, having Superman's mom being in the Senate is probably a bit risky for him (when he fully comes out as Superman)...

Why would anyone care if Clark Kent's mother is in the senate? Unless Clark is going to come out with the world knowing he is Superman, it would not matter if Martha stays a senator. I like Martha as a senator, her life did not end just because she is someone's mom

If they wanted to align with the classic comic mythology, Martha would be dead by Now.

I haven't read the comics lately but I think she's alive in post-crisis...besides, I think they've been quoted as saying the show will eventually follow the mythology. That's why they killed off fake Jimmy.

I too have never been a fan of Jonathan running for Senate or Martha taking the position (though I did love the episode reuniting Jonathan with his old Dukes of Hazard co-star---that was television genius!)

I agree with others that by then end of the series I feel she will be back on the farm.

The most you could say is that it gives a reason they are so close later in life.

Perry and Martha don't marry, we know that. Perry has already told Clark previously that he owes him and will help Clark in any way he can if Clark needs it.

It won't effect (in this universe) how Clark gets started in his career since he's already been hired into the Daily Planet.

yea its very likely we could see martha leave the senate and come back to the farm by the series finale(which i do hope she will appear in). As for perry and martha dating, it could just be for now and then down the road we hear they break up and perry goes his way and martha goes her way.

I have to admit, "Hostage" feels like it should have come before "Sacrifice", considering the whole episode felt like a penultimate episode. Sure it's gonna be fun having Perry and Martha back but I hope we don't another "Injustice" type episode before the finale.

A friend of mine joked today that they're going to reveal that Martha was involved in all of this Checkmate/alien/Red Queen tomfoolery since she was a young Metropolitan...ite...ian... whatever the proper term is.
