91st Annual Academy Awards

The Favourite is playing 30 miles away from me. Unfortunately, I don't have a car, and the bus would take over 6 hours just getting there (Southern California's bus system is pretty terrible in the inland empire area). Oye. I'll keep trying to look for it, hopefully it gets an Awards nomination boost in screens.

So what are the chances that Goransson wins Best Score for Black Panther? Pretty high?

I still wonder why Amy Adams never appeared on several meme till this point. She’s basically the DiCaprio female lol
I think people don't joke about it because she's taken more humble, not that serious roles like in Man of Steel or The Muppets. DiCaprio, on the other hand, has only starred in Oscar-bait projects for years which made it plainly obvious that he was gunning for that Oscar up until he won for The Revenant.

EDIT: What @flickchick85 said.

Time for DiCaprio to do a CBM now that he has his Oscar. One of his best friends was Spider-Man, after all.

hed make a good riddler/fbi agent combo thing in a Bale/Nolan world.

So, they had to snub Skylar Grey's song for Aquaman too.

BEST ORIGINAL SONG CATEGORY

“EVERYTHING I NEED”
Written by SKYLAR GREY
and ELLIOTT TAYLOR.

Performed by SKYLAR GREY

The guitarist in me really hopes for Blackkklansman to take musical score, lol.

Has anyone seen the Favorite? I’ve seen random ads for it but none of my friends or anyone I know has seen it. The trailer was pretty crap but the cast is fantastic.

Probably because Amy comes across a lot less self-serious and...well, desperate (sorry Leo). She's got no qualms about doing light-hearted, goofy stuff or being a supporting player in an ensemble. Leo's career from The Basketball Diaries onward pretty much screamed I'M A SERIOUS ACTOR GUYS, TAKE ME SERIOUSLY!!!! So his struggle for the Oscar seemed more dramatic, while Amy always just seems happy to be here, lol.

Leo's thirst was hilarious.

It's brilliant, imo. But if you think the trailer was crap, then it might not be for you. That director has a very specific style and dark humor that's definitely not for everyone, but if I were calling the shots it would be the obvious front-runner.

I sometimes fall into a depression because I know I will never freeze to death in the waters of the Atlantic ocean after being a passenger on board a luxurious cruise ship.

You’ll only freeze to death if someone doesn’t move over on the floating piece of wood even though there’s clearly room for two.

It's not just about surface area, it's about weight and structural integrity!

They tested that on Mythbusters once - turned out Cameron did do some research with the wood and buoyancy etc, but he was off by a little. With the wood the size it is in the actual movie he'd have been able to float on it with her.

The correct answer is "who gives a ****?!" in a grumpy Harrison Ford voice though.

I cannot quote Sam Elliott's reaction to his FIRST nomination here but it is awesome :)

Pfft. Justin Hurwitz's First Man score got snubbed. F*** 'em!

I saw it a couple weeks ago. Movie was excellent. Top notch acting performances, and I loved the way the film was put together. One of the best films of the year.

Malek's not been handling the press circuit for Bohemian Rhapsody very well. Between dodging questions about the depiction of Mercury's sexuality in the film to claiming ignorance towards the Bryan Singer debacle. Dude's been on the defensive for months.

I think he's just genuinely that kinda person when it comes to interviews. He has fun when it's about trivial stuff but kinda clams up when it gets prodding.

I would be annoyed too. Remember, he's doing hundreds of these interviews and after a certain point, you just want to talk about the work and not things that were out of your control.

He probably needs better PR management but I never fault actors seeming tired or giving short answers on these press circuits because they are grueling and half the time you probably don't even remember the publication you're being interviewed for.

What's weird is that Titanic became the biggest moneymaker of all time, yet these days you can't find anybody who'll admit that they're one of the people who went to see it over and over, etc.

SOMEbody gave them all that money!

C'mon, it took over popular culture for several months. Movie discussion boards were so flooded with Titanic posts that other posters complained about it. People talked about being so affected by it that they were having nightmares about drowning and having to pull off the road whenever the song came on the radio because they were crying too hard to drive.

Where'd all those people go??

I saw Titanic 5 times in theaters.

Don't @ me

nah man, you didn't see it 5 times. It was all a dream. :o
