93rd Annual Academy Awards

Almost two hours in and I'm still not used to the venue but they seem to be rolling right along with the ceremony this year. Sure, some of the intros are a bit long-winded but they at least cut out the pointless montages of past years. But I do agree that they should have kept the clips for acting performances at least. Still, I'm happy for Kaluuya. Zhao as well.

Soul. And well deserved.
Indeed. I liked Onward too but Soul was by and far the better film. If I'm not mistaken, I also think this was the first year that two Pixar films were nominated for Best Animated Feature. Usually when two Pixar movies are released in the same year, one ends up winning the Oscar (like Inside Out or Coco) and the other ends up being a dud (like The Good Dinosaur or Cars 3).

Also, man that Tenet VFX team is lucky that Fast 9 got pushed to next year, otherwise they'd have lost that for sure. :o

Whoa, they're doing Best Picture before Best Actor or Best Actress? I guess Boseman got it and they wanted to end the show with that.

And Nomadland wins it.

I stayed up late just to cringe. Not like Hopkins doesn't deserve it but...damn.

I don't believe they didn't pull a ledger and give it to Chadwick. I'm actually pissed. I love Hopkins but come on.

I’m speechless TBH. I don’t think they expected that either considering they saved Actor for last.

That was awkward as hell. Like you could tell they had this thing planned out, and were gonna end it on a tearful Chadwick tribute, and then...that happened.

I guess that officially proves the "nobody making the show actually knows the winners beforehand" thing.

I did this last year with a video now I was inclined to do it again.

I have to imagine they thought Boseman was gonna win and Actor was last for that reason. But wow....this to me is.more shocking than Coleman beating Close

I have no opinion on the result. I didn't see Ma Rainey's Black Bottom or The Father. So I cannot really be outraged. This year I only caught half the BP noise, which is unusual for me but baby and availability on some of these films has been low for me without shelling out 20 bucks a rental

I haven’t seen either films but from what I heard, Hopkins nailed his role so it seems like it was well deserved.

Did anyone notice Phoenix declared Hopkins the winner WITHOUT EVEN OPENING THE ENVELOP? Kinda suspicious if you ask me. Maybe there's a coin toss of a chance that wasn't the actual winner.

At least the Academy choose the best actor in the year. And I am very happy for Anthony but cant structure this show with that ending while the memorials even push him more.

Is a huge F*** *** to all the movements in the past 2 years in the US.
