Fantasy A Harry Potter series for HBO?

They had their own problems to deal with. Daniel Radcliffe in particular had a severe drinking problem as a teenager. But even though social media wasn't really much of a thing back then, message boards and forums were, not to mention adult critics and awards shows like the Razzies had no problem tearing down child actors. Look at what happened to Jake Lloyd after The Phantom Menace. I'm sure people on the internet were saying plenty of hateful stuff about the Harry Potter cast at that time but since the movies and cast were generally well liked it got lost in the shuffle.
Yeah I know, so just imagine what they went through dialed up to 11
HBO better have some serious protocols in place to protect those kids

This show is not shaking the Temu allegations. :funny:
A movie series about Newt finding many mythical beasts of the Wizarding World? No stealth Dumbledore prequel that's very unfocused. A new series that will actually translate well to television? No a streaming remake of the movies!

That’s more or less what the first one was and that **** was forgettable as hell.

Honestly, I suspect that WB brass came to the (not necessarily incorrect) assumption that the potential for the Wizarding World doesn’t hold as much potential as the actual character of Harry Potter. And though it would have been preferable, a continuation with Radcliffe wasn’t going to happen, so…

I begrudge JKR as a person, and think there’s many ways this probably won’t work, but I don’t totally begrudge the idea. I just think it would’ve benefited from coming a lot further down the line or for the movies to not feel so ever-present.

But it was the decent one. :o

Yeah, the problem here is that Joanne is still in creative control. It is not a coincidence that she signed off on this after all three came out against her terfdom. And honestly, looking at the path of the books, it honestly isn't a surprise that she tried to turn what should have been a simple, fun adventure series into an "epic".

We all knew the little blonde rat was a POS.
Felton is the Wooderson of Hogwarts. :o

It's no surprise he's desperate because his career hasn't exactly been on fire since Potter but this is just sad.

She's only 10 years older than me! :weeping:

But I think she was always supposed to be in her 40's. I think the oldest Weasley sons were in their 20's for the whole series.
She's almost 50, though. She'll be 55 when Ron graduates Hogwarts.

I can buy her having Ron when she was 37-38.
how much older are the twins suppose to be then Ron?

if they had the twins in their late 20's / early 30's (and they were quite the handful) waiting several years before having more kids isn't far fetched

The twins were two years older than Ron. There's the three older boys above them, then Ron, then Ginny.
