A New Era for the Wrestling Thread

If you've noticed that my activity on the thread has decreased recently, there's a reason: I've joined an 11-member sketch comedy troupe, with a theme of the trials and tribulations of a badly managed professional wrestling promotion. Think SCTV or WKRP meets WWE. It's a sketch show, but I've written about 30% of the sketches. I play a role of the world's highest paid but worst luchadore: Ultimo Dragon's costume, Hornswaggle's athletic ability and Ric Flair's morals. Our first show is Wednesday. I'm nervous as hell.

Oh, yeah yeah yeah. My bad. I hope you go over, then.

"Break a leg!"

"Ow! I broke my leg!"

Lol, it's fine, I'm not even a real actor, I'm just the writer. We have a John Cena/Tom Brady parody character, a Ronda Rousey/Trish Stratus parody, a CM Punk/Kevin Owens parody, a Big Show/Bane parody and a Vince/Stephanie/Oprah parody, plus other assorted screwball characters.

I wanna see this. So. Much.

Hey, you never know where we might end up. We do want to take the show on the road eventually, when we get better at it. Mainly in the Ontario industrial belt at first, but who knows where else we could go.

Y'all come to NY I am down for the show.

Sadly, no. I'm in the city. But there could be bars and stuff that would house your show for cheap. Or Queens or even Long Island. One of my coworkers did play script readings in the basement of a a bar and it cost them nothing to run in Manhattan. It was a good reading, too. I guess travel would be a real *****, though.

Ruby Riott jobbing to Nikki Bella in 2018=Garbage booking and a waste of the latter's potential.

They're on the verge of squandering Braun's momentum, that ending was crap.

Stone Cold Steve Austin and X Pac say that NXT is better than the Main Roster.

To quote James Ellsworth: "duh!"

We have 2 visions clashing in WWE - the main roster is Vince McMahon while the NXT, Performance Center, Evolution PPV, and the area code PPV 205 is Triple H/ Stephanie McMahon. Whenever the NXT talent are sent to the main roster, they are in Vince's hands.

They are always great with these video packages:

WOW, Carmella sure needed to humiliate Asuka multiple times, for THIS!! It's sad how they've completely destroyed what made Asuka cool and unique on the MR, and in such a short amount of time.

For all of those people who complain about "pessimism" and "not giving things a chance," this is why skeptics do it, WWE has given us no reason to trust them.

Hell these are the same "geniuses" who looked at the most organically over female babyface that fans have been waiting for YEARS to see get a payoff and thought "I no, let's turn her heel out of nowhere, people will accept that right."

God damn, i dont know if i will ever recover from that raw episode...i cant remember at the top of my head a worse Raw than this monday.

Normally i see at least small doses of good, but this week there was literally nothing.
And they started off with sacrificing the raw roster to the shield, they continued this through the whole show.
Then Nikki bella going over Ruby freaking Riott while they continue to sell me the womens revolution is just an insult to every women who really works hard...****ing nikki bella...the definition of a diva, going over Ruby Riott...the definition of a womens wrestler.

And of course we end the show with Roman Reigns standing tall against Braun Strowman...****ing hell, 2018 and this is the best they can come up with.

Having said that, as usual Smackdown was way better...not everything is gold there but still quite enjoyable.
But having a bella main event a show is disgraceful, if you want to have the women main event then they could have done Charlotte vs Sonya...with the aftermath it would have been the perfect way to hype the ppv.
If anything good came out of their botched heel turn for becky then its the new fire and attitude becky has...i really like that.
Also she seems to be even hotter than ever before...i might get weirldy turned on by aggressive women.XD XD

Asuka...yeah the girl really got hit hard.
I watched the segment and the empress of tomorrow was nowhere to be seen, they have completely stripped her off everything that made her good.
How they managed that is beyond me, NXT gave them the template to go with.

I hope that there are more office segments with William Regal tonight.

I was too busy playing the new Spider-Man game to give a **** about RAW this week. Quite honestly, that Bruan Strowman heel turn and the Shield's return being botched has ruined any interest I had after SummerSlam.

My sketch group ... killed it tonight. I'm ****ing tired though.

Otis calling Ciampa a Dumpling was more entertaining than anything on last week's raw.

Roddy saying he beats his toddler son at hide and seek while the rest of Undisputed Era give him positive affirmation made me laugh.

Shyna murdered some poor girl.

Nikki and Bianca have a crazy fun feud brewing.

Mendoza needs to join 205 live because he reportedly tears it up at NXT house shows so it feels a waste to just use him as a jobber.

Lorcan is hyped as *****! I enjoy him just stiff speed wrestling everyone like a mad man.

Forgotten Sons promo looked like a sons of anarchy spin off about a bunch of dudes they came back from the war disillusioned and formed a wrestling stable instead of a outlaw biker gang.

CMLL 85th Anniversary Show is starting now. Free stream for Honor Club members.

Hard to believe a wrestling company could be around that long in one consistent form.
