Did anyone notice the paticular scene in The Dark Knight where all the mobsters and the fake 'batmen' are apprehended and Brian Douglas (the paticular 'batmen' that the Joker later takes hostage) tells Batman that "we're trying to help you" and Batman responds by saying "I don't need any help" . . . well if you didn't I did and I was just thinking if this was truly Christopher Nolan telling all us fans that he really does not want Robin in a future series.

Nolan has stated before, as has Christian Bale, that he does not want Robin to appear in his movies, but I was just thinking if this could be a direct statement, yet hidden in the moment, that Batman will always be alone and there will be no Robin.

Thoughts, ideas, anything else?

I dont see Robin in the films but i do see Dick Grayson being introuduced in each film theres that underline theme of Father and Son plus Batman has already shown that he cant do this forever so he will want some one to carry on his mantle after he is done so i can see the 3rd film ending with Bruce adopting little Grayson

Or he was just telling Brian that he doesn't need help. Sometimes a line is just a line, not everything has to be a nod or reference to something else.

Almost certainly not intentional, but I'll take it anyway.

Either way, I think that it was a reference that no Robin will be shown. Maybe Dick Grayson, but I don't think Robin will. But even an appearance by him might never occur. It was just my little thought/idea.

if he doesnt want grown men helping him, why would he want a kid?

I took that line as more of a "I dont need that kind of help" than anything against Robin. Personally, I believe if Batmen with the same type of mindset (IE killing criminals with guns ect) appeared in the DCU comics, I would fully expect Batman to not only have the same reaction, but quite possibly say something strikingly similar as he did in the film.

But to each their own.

HereToComment27,
maybe it was a cry for help...and it was meant to be like...one day...you'll see...he'll need a Robin. Ever think of that? This in no way was Nolan saying there will be NO Robin...if anything now that you made us all think about it...it was a nod to him one day getting the help he DOES need...and so fans know...it meant Robin. Still doesn't mean he'll be in Nolan's movies...but I think you've under-analyzed it to suit yourself.

if this franchise needed a Robin, it won't be Bale's Batman.

Here are. Some. Periods..

I do kinda wish we could get a Nightwing movie... without going through all the Robins.

I dont think that means there would be no Robin also doesn't this go in the Batman Sequels area?

i didnt think robin was done badly in batman forever, i will ALWAYS be against a 15 year old robin in movies, because that is stupid. if they make robin like a 20-20 something year old, thats fine, hes still young enbough to be considered a kid, but still old enough to be taken seriously.

but do i actually want robin in movies? hell no.

If they make a movie about robin it should just be about Night Wing and not related to the batman series just have Batman as a supporting character and put it in a different universe then in the nolan series.

man i keep reading all these newer graphic novels and its always batman running gotham with the help of others he recruits or uses here and there... especially nightwing and dont forget jason todd is always the mystery villian hahaha.

they should do a war games or red hood series haha. more like a multi layer mystery. even if its animated.

okay, just have Robin be someone that was inspired by what Bats has been doin. im not sayin put Robin a movie. just if he was, have him be inspired by Bats. like have Robin goin around helpin people and batman just hears stories bout a red clad hero protecting some people of Gotham.

I really hope this isn't the case. I really would like to see Robin taken seriously in the films. Although I have to say that Chris O'Donnel was probably the ONLY thing I liked about the Schumaker films. You could tell he took the roll seriously.

But I'd like to see a younger Robin, like 15 or 16, and Bruce connects with him because of the death of his parents. That's what I want to see.

So, completely change the character and remove any remotely appealing thematic significance, resulting in a character who's "Robin" in name only?
