A Superhero I invented

Well actually I've been emailed and messaged about how my character is just like Wolverine. I have to say, being the only one who knows actually anything about this character, that I cant even see how he's like Wolverine. The two are so far

Sometimes its hard for writers/creators to be objective about the material that he or she writes because of the closeness to those characters and plot. Besides, the writer is not the one buy that book or comic, it is the reader. If the readers see some similarities between your character and another that is popular and well established, there may be something to what those people are commenting on.

Just food thought.

And also, be objective with your work and don't be so offended with others when comments and opinions come in, you get too upset.

No, your not quite listening to what Im saying. Its not just people on the hype but there are couple of people who have been quite rude about my character. They have even gone so far as to it being humiliating. Honestly I dont think theres any evidence that shows how Renegade is too close to Wolverine. I understand that when people post comments and such its there to help me shape my character better, and I have changed him quite a bit since the first time I posted him here. And by the way I dont get completely upset, just objective.

I have also invented a superhero and done a lot of work on him, but it is still all in my head though. I would like to see him on the big screen one day, if you are interested I could write some of it down and show You the character. I just hope no one will steal my idea, but do you want to here more, then just contact me on this board or mail: [email protected]

p.s. I am from Denmark, so you have to forget my spelling. :yay:

Thats the problem with Wolverine though, just because he is popular, no one can make a character with powers like him.

But with Superman its different and I can't understand why.

If somebody is like Superman, its okay. why?

Actually with Superman it was not ok the first time. Captain Marvel the one that is now owned by DC Comics I saw on Super Heros Unmasked this past Sunday on the History Channel in his early history was being sued becasue DC felt the character was to similar to Superman. Gladiator (Kallark) has just about every one of Superman's powers and abilties some of them different ones that Supes does not have but was not mentioned in the lawsuit because of his different appearnce, serving a advanced alien race where Superman now protects the humans, along with plenty of other things that prevent him from being a repeat of the Superman Captain Marvel lawsuit.

Superhuman Strength: Gladiator possesses immense physical strength, the exact limits of which are unknown. His strength rivals those of known powerhouses such as Thor, Hercules, and the Hulk. His strength has proven sufficient for him to lift the Baxter Building itself, displaying that his can lift far beyond 100 tons.
Superhuman Speed Gladiator is capable of running and moving at speeds vastly greater than even the finest human athlete. While the exact limit of his speed is unknown, he is able to move considerably faster than the Speed of Sound, which is roughly 770 miles per hour. However, Gladiator rarely uses his superhuman speed while not in flight.
Superhuman Stamina: Gladiator possesses extraordinary physical stamina. His muscles generate considerably less fatigue toxins than the musculature of human beings. He can exert himself at peak capacity for several weeks before fatigue begins to affect him.
Superhuman Agility: Gladiator's natural balance, agility, and body coordination are substantially superior to those of humans.
Superhuman Reflexes: Gladiator's natural reflexes and reaction time are substantially superior to those of humans.
Superhuman Durability Gladiator's body possesses a high degree of resistance to physical injury as well as a bio-aura. He can withstand high caliber bullets, powerful concussive blasts, falls from tremendous heights without sustaining injury. Gladiator can withstand temperatures approaching that of a supernova and can survive in the vacuum of space indefinitely.
Flight: Gladiator is able to generate gravitons that enable him to fly. Gladiator's speed rivals those of the fastest known starships, and can achieve faster than light speeds in hyperspace.
Heat Beams: Gladiator is capable of firing highly concentrated beams of energy from his eyes. These beams are capable of reaching extremely high temperatures. The maximum temperature his beams can reach is unknown. However, they are buring through the Hulk's skin, which means that they are able to reach temperatures at least in excess of 3,000 degrees Farenheit.
Psi Resistance Gladiator is capable of causing a counterforce against telepathic assaults and probes. However, telepaths of sufficient power are capable of penetrating his psionic defenses.

Abilities: Gladiator is highly skilled in the combat arts of the Shi'ar, personally trained by Deathbird.

Limitations: Gladiator is vulnerable to certain wavelengths of radiation. A signifigant portion of Gladiator's powers, especially his strength, stamina, and resistance to physical injury, are affected by his level of confidence. If his confidence in himself wavers, he has been known to weaken substantially.

So I came up with Nightavenger's first super hero ally. It's Fusionman. I still have to work out his stats and bio and I will post him here soon.

No offense dude, I admire your ambition, but I think Renegade still bears a ridiculous resemblance to Wolverine. Whether or not you remove a claw or two, the character still weilds retractable claws, which is sort of what most people identify Wolverine with. Not to mention the healing factor, which is a bit too much like Wolverine on its own even without the coincidental things about his skeleton and claws. But to top it off, the mask on the costume immediately points the minds eye to Wolverine's costume. It makes us all think, HEYWAIT, haven't I seen this somewhere before?

Same thing with the Spider-man based character on your page, who is probably even worse of a derivation.

So you are saying that it is mainly the claws, healing factor, mask, and costume that is mainly looked at like a Wolverine copy? I will agree that if you use claws and a healing factor that it is mostly going to be compared to Wolverine. I didn't hear that there was a Spiderman based character. What is his name?

Well i dont care really what you think or what anyone else thinks if its towards him being like Wolverine. I still have yet to be shown any solid evidence of this but whatever I dont care. I know what his powers are, I know what his history is, its all right here for anyone to see and if you can read then it shouldnt be hard to see that they arent the same. But thats your opinion.

You don't have to care about our opinions, true, but... It'd be a good idea to if you think you're going to want to actually sell comics with this Renegade character.

I believe, donald, that it the fact that renegade has two claws that come out from the back of his hand, a healing factor, and a skeleton that is different from that of a ordinary human. Those things make people think of wolverine when you write about renegade. It doesn't matter if he has three verse two claws, there are still claws coming out between his knuckles.

And I think I have said this before, the powers that are similar to wolverine's just... I don't know... don't fit with the character, it doesn't jive. When you changed the origin so that it was religious in nature, and also making it so renegade was almost like a quasi second-coming, a messiah in a way, that just changed everything. The plot, the powers, the religious inspiration, the mutant aspect, it all just doesn't mesh together very well. It seems like a sloppy sandwich slapped together before someone has to run out the door because he or she is late for school.

This all may just be me, though.

I know, I know, even I admit that does sound like a bit of a Wolverine copy. I've been going though alot of the work on him, and surprisingly its looking better and I hope to post it on here soon. I reeeeaaaly dont think that I got my story out there like I had wanted to so I'm gonna take some time and change things in it and on Renegade before I re-post it on here. And I completely agree with you on the whole sloppyness thing, most of all of this is in my head and its hard for me to get it all down on paper, but Im starting to get it all straightened out.

^Glad to hear it and I look forward to reading about Renegade when you get him tweaked.

Super Hero Fusionman

Hair Color Black
Identity Secret

I will be working on his bio.

I know this is a thread for Renegades big reveal and everything but I have to but in with my own sweet superhero.
hgultimatejuiceblckman.jpg

His name is Black-Man. He wears a pitch-black suit with those white Batman lenses. The reason he wears black is he is really light skinned and would die in the sun. The black color of his outfit helps transfuse and absorb the sunlight without direct contact that would be harmful. He is the last survivor of a savage race of early man, and is looked down upon by the superhero community for his general failure to participate or contribute anything to their efforts and goes his own way often to disasterous results. He is tall, athletic and has high stamina. His race has all died out but he searches for clues why. He usually battles enemies that are involved with his search for knowledge, and is considered more rude and selfish then heroes who actively search for crimes. Like DD, he is constantly swinging from flagpoles, wires are branche and uses his ability to swing from things to fighting advenatge. What do you think? I think Renegade would get cold owned by Black Man.

So this guy decedent from cavemen, right? How has he survived for so long if he comes from some type of homo-whatever? (Especially if man has evolved so much since its early incarnation.)

Also, another thing I don't get is this idea of him having light-skin. Early man, if you do some research, generally had darker skin to survive a hotter climate. The first incarnations of men first lived on the continent of Africa, after all. You might want to do some research into that.

Continuing down that path of thinking, I am also confused about another thing with this guy's bio. If he is a surviver of early man, would not the mystery of his people's disappearance mean that they evolved into modern man? Not much mystery there, just evolution. What is your thought process with this?

Ultimate Justin I actually really like your idea. I think it is very original.
