Inhumans ABC's The Inhumans - General Discussion (news, updates, speculation...) - Part 1

That's my point.

"Hey let's shoot this series in IMAX!!"

"Great idea! What kind of super cool stuff are we going to shoot to take advantage of the format?"

"Nothing special, let's just use IMAX cameras as a selling point."

It's far more accurate to say:
IMAX: "Hey, we'll give you a bunch of money if you shoot this in IMAX and put the first couple episodes in IMAX theaters when nothing else is playing."
Marvel: "OK, we'll throw something together."

The fact that IMAX is experimenting with TV shows appearing in IMAX is a big part of the whole plan.

And let's not even mention "Triton" -- that was just sad.

Well not as sad as that "Inhuman" crowd. They looked like some rejects from some post apocalyptic zombie movie.

And those guards had plenty of time to shoot before Lockjaw teleported them away. They should had some property of the teleportation process deflect the guns discharge. Oops that would have cost money.

Bingo.
This is decidedly low budget.

Why is Ramsey Bolton wearing the exact facial hair as he does in Thrones?
Since when did Maximus have a scruffy beard?

Since Jarvis became an AI which then became the Vision. Since Falcon became an Afghanistan War vet. Since Blonsky became a covert ops soldier. Since Wanda and Pietro got their powers instead of being born with them. Since Jane Foster became an astrophysicist instead of a medical professional. Since...

I mean... Really? When is this going to sink into fans?

Since Medusa had lifeless bright red hair that looked like a bad wig. :o

The lifeless part is a little odd at this point. We've seen two minutes out of a 480 minute project. Based on comments we've heard, it would be absurd to think it'll be lifeless all the time. It just wasn't shown in the trailer, which is an entirely different thing. They aren't showing everything in a trailer.

As for looking like a bad wig. Well, it is a wig, so it would make much more sense to just say "the wig looks bad" rather than "it looks like a bad wig." Usually, when people say that, the intent is to do a simile, not to describe something in a grammatically awkward way. It's still not great but, after the EW picture, I'm just happy it's more red since it looked orange there. That alone is a vast improvement.

Not your post, but I do want to comment on Triton. Once again, expectations are lower since the leaked trailer made him look blue. I don't think the budget is the issue with Triton. To me, it's a Marvel anti-fin bias. He's very similar to Yondu in the first Guardians movie in that way. Triton's fin is nowhere near as large. To me, it's not dramatically different, but it's less than ideal. There's also some inconsistency as to whether he has one fin or three in the comics as well. The real test would be if they show the rest of his body. Triton in the comics has scales on his arms and torso. Here, he's wearing a jacket that covers it, but I'd like to see some attention to detail if he were ever shirtless.

LOL No. I'm not talking about updating the character's bio to match the times or changing something from the comics that won't translate to live action -- I'm talking about an absolutely unneeded change to his appearance that has the actor looking exactly like the fairly famous character he just got done playing. What's next, he gets eaten by Lockjaw?

What reason did they have to keep the stupid beard? None. They just didn't want to ask the actor to shave? His face is scarred? Nobody said, "Clean shaven works in the comics. but a clean shaven Maximus won't work in live action."

It's like when an actor does a one off TV appearance and wears a bald cap, but if he is doing a major motion picture they will often shave their head.

It's like the series wasn't important enough to ask him to shave his "trademark" beard?

"Scott Buck asked me to and I said no." LOL

Scott Buck probably wanted the beard, just like he did for Iron Fist. And Buck isn't going to ask anyone to do anything. He just has it all filmed exactly as it is. No need for much effort anywhere.

I'm just surprised he didn't do what Steve Martin did in Bowfinger, and follow someone around filming them in secret and putting together a movie/ episode from that footage. :o

The trailer lacks color. Like Aos, they are using this bland black/white/gray color aesthetic into the set design and costuming and it just looks so bland. If this came out in 2000 just like the X-Men movie, this would have been fine but in 2017, eh.

you're clearly nitpicking.
next to all the problems this show might have, his beard is irrelevant. you're just trying to pick it apart for stupid reasons because it's cool to hate the inhumans atm.

If the beard were the worst thing about this show, it would be a miracle.

They are idiot apologists. They spend 3 minutes explaining why IMAX doesn't make it big budget. We didn't expect IMAX to make it look great -- we expected that they wouldn't bother with IMAX in the first place unless that had some spectacular to shoot in that format.

Excellent point. Let's hope the Russo brothers realize this since they are shooting Infinity War in IMAX.

That Ryan Reynolds movie "Buried" should've been shot in IMAX. :o

:csad:

Does Anson Mount look more like the confused or sad smiley?

They couldn't even make this look on par with NBC's Emerald City. That I could see in IMAX.

So does Scott Buck hate masks and costumes? If so, why? That doesn't seem to be a problem with Kevin Feige.

Scott Buck's Ghost Rider wouldn't be a guy with a flaming skull but just a regular guy with a lighter who flicks it on every now and again.

Scott Buck's Avengers would be:

- Captain America as someone wearing an American flag t-shirt.
- Iron Man would be a regular guy holding an iron
- The Hulk would have the last name of Hogan.
- Hawkeye would be Alan Alda's Character from MASH.
- Black Widow would be a woman dressed in black.

Scott Buck's Guardians of the Galaxy would be about a bunch of techie nerds working at the Samsung store trying to protect the Galaxy S8.

I feel like this is all still more than Scott Buck would do

What is stupid are changes that are made for no reason at all.
Can't do it because of budget, time, technology, aesthetics -- fine. Change something because "it doesn't really matter." -- stupid.
They went so far as to add the black stripe in Crystal's hair but made Medusa's hair and Maximus's look totally wrong. Maybe they intend to fix up Medusa's hair in post production to more closely resemble her traditional look. But for sure we are going to get that look for Maximus.

Everything in the fairly brief bits we've seen of Maximus are wrong -- the look, the odd accent, his attitude, his demeanor.

Maximus is "Mad" -- he comes off as a completely generic younger brother usurper in the small bits we've seen. Throughout the 1960s at least he was a loon. Maybe he goes crazy later, but it's no encouraging to see him portrayed that way.

Facial hair is apparently the make or break aspect of this show.

But Black Widow was a woman dressed in black in the Avengers.:bw:
