Well if only the vfx for her hair is superb. I was quite disappointed that they didn't have it for the teaser trailer.

I think it's a nice poster though. It's pretty cool.

So does Scott Buck hate masks and costumes? If so, why? That doesn't seem to be a problem with Kevin Feige.

Here's a new quote from Anson Mount:

"Dude, one of the tricks of this kind of adaptation from the graphic novel world to a live-action is to, you have to ground it. You have to ground it in a way that makes these characters more accessible to a viewing audience rather than a reading audience. It’s a colder medium. They are not participating. Even if the novel is graphic, it’s still a hotter medium. There are certain aspects of the character in the world that are a bit more grounded than what you’d see in the graphic novels."

I really hate the way people involved in these things always use excuses for why they take the 'safe' route rather making things look like the comic books.

And it's always done in a condescending, patronizing way like we just don't understand because we're not 'in the business'.

Why does "the customer is always right" not apply to these things?

And name me the last time a superhero film or TV show failed because the costumes were too close to the comics.:sbr:

If they had used this costume, I can pretty much guarantee nobody would be complaining:

But people are complaining about the choice they did go with, so who is right, the producers or the people who might actually watch the damn thing?

...and why does a story about a group of beings with alien DNA living on the far side of the moon have to be more "grounded" than The Flash?

Kinberg, Buck and Trank need to team up and make the most grounded comic book movie they can possibly make.

I love it when the star is completely clueless.

Yeah, dude make the show for people who are embarrassed by superhero costumes -- they are your target audience.

I'm not a big fan of live action cowls, especially for folks who aren't half heartedly attempting to conceal their identities (With only the lower half of my face exposed I am completely anonymous!). But Cap's detached helmet with eyeholes worked very well, and I am sure Buck & Co. could have come up with a comic adjacent flight helmet that would look good on Blackagar. The triple use of the word "grounded", though, leads me to think he won't be taking off.

Yeah, I think we can interpret everything we've seen plus his comments to mean:

"This is TV. It's not a comic book or film. So don't expect the cool stuff you get in comic books and films. Our costumes won't look as good and our powers won't be as amazing and all around everything will be sort of watered down and boring."

It's a shame that when it seemed they might really have the ability to create a format that bridged the differences between films and TV shows, in the end, it's just a TV show. :csad:

This is definitely going to be the MCU's biggest failure yet.

Scott Buck should've directed 50 Shades of Grey. There was plenty of that there! :o

LOL

Seriously, though, didn't they film this with IMAX cameras? What did they use them for? Long shots of the royal family sitting at dinner sideeyeing each other?

I'm really curious to see how it will do in IMAX. Here's a thread devoted specifically to the thing, and I've seen maybe one or two people say they're going to see it in IMAX.

If we're not going, who is? Does anyone else even know it's happening?

I don't think it looks "terrible"... for a TV show. But compared to things I pay to see in theaters, yeah, it looks pretty terrible.

A cross over between the X-Men, the Fantastic Four and the Inhumans should be great but they are in the wrong hands.:csad:

The should make a movie based on the Infamous video game series. That seems like their wheelhouse to be honest, especially Buck.

I'm pretty sure that's not Joe Quesada this time. Any idea if this is an established comic artist?

Honestly, I'm not thrilled with that either. It's just a little too busy. My general rule of thumb is, if it's busier than Jack Kirby made it, it's too busy. I like the cowl/helmet. But, if they added the wings to the costume, I honestly think the jacket he has in the show looks about right. If people are saying leather isn't comics faithful, neither is that body armor.

Easy to target Buck (rightly so he lacks vision), but the guy who hired him for two shows now may be the bigger problem moving forward. I have completely lost faith in Marvel TV and who's running the show. It basically comes down to the showrunner and if Loeb happens to hit or miss on who he hires..No real consistency.

While that image does fit with the MCU I think even if Inhumans was made by Marvel Studios it still wouldn't be body armor. I feel the designs would be the same just made out of better material with more minor details you'd only noticed close up. I always felt the royal family should look more like royalty and less like super heroes. Never made sense why Black Bolt or Medusa would wear masks. I mean it was acceptable in comics because of superheroes in general but doesn't makes sense. Plus my not be the best move to have a mask that covers and actor's face when they cannot emote through dialog.

Has nothing to do with it not being grounded though.:thf:

Yeah, it's not like anyone ever said: "You know the problem with the Flash? His costume isn't grounded enough." I actually prefer the TV Flash costume to the Justice League version.

Well the best part of having an alien Inhuman culture is that you can create any norms you want as they aren't humans. You don't really need it to make "sense". Masks in my mind would only be needed ceremonially or perhaps in battle but not needed during leisure time. Just because we haven't seen it in the short glimpses we've seen in the trailer doesn't mean there won't be those instances. But let's be real here, there's no evidence that they will have any anyway.

 Wearing the more traditional mask in certain circumstances would certainly work. But based on AM's comments, and the fact that they should know what we want and would have given us a glimpse if they had something, I'm betting what we see is what we get.

Even where it would make sense or there is a prime opportunity to have a mask, Scott Buck still can't make it work in his own mind. He could never find a place for it in Iron Fist and probably still can't if he's showrunner next season.
