That's what I'm saying. It's like people are now going overboard with "all cops are bad" crap and it's simply not true. If a cop does anything questionable, it always seem to be the cops fault no matter what the victim has done. The girl was walking away from the cop mouthing off but did an about face in a high pressure situation. Notice how the boys who were involved were not anywhere near as loud and belligerent as she was because they knew the deal but this girl wanted people to know that she doesn't back down from anyone, not even the law. And now she's being paraded around as some hero but she's not. She clearly made this situation worse.

Another thing is we miss 80% of what leads up to these "events"

People pull out the camera to catch what cops are doing. How about pulling out the camera to the messed up actions for why the cops came there in first place as well?

I don't, and I think most here do not believe all cops are bad, but I do see the cop in the middle of this situation as a problem. Can you honestly say he looked like he arrived on the scene with the goal of defusing the situation? They are supposed to be trained for this. You know like the other officer in the video talking to the kids, having their attention giving instruction, with out belittling or cursing at them? Then comes the aggressive officer showing all signs of wanting to bust some skulls.

and I'm iffy to say this a race issue, BUT I do think there would be less people falling over themselves to excuse this officer, had he been a black cop aggressively dropping a 14yr old white girl.

There is zero justification for what this guy did.

Yeah she was a brat, we can all agree on that, but he manandled a skinny 15 year old girl to the ground in her bikini. And sat on her while she screamed for help.

Then he pulled his gun on a few boys who looked like they were thinking of assisting her.

The other cops scramble to get him to holster his weapon.

He was wrong.

A brat mouthing off doesn't justify what he did.

She was invited to the pool party. The cop just assumed she was a criminal then he used his size, power and badge to teach her a lesson. It had nothing to do with "keeping the peace". It was this guy being a bully. Plain and simple. She wasn't a threat, she was a bratty 15 year old girl who weighed under 100 pounds in a bikini. I'm glad this idiot turned in his badge.

We don't need cops like that, we really don't.

There was a tv show called Cops that just showed nice guy cops dealing with violent drunks and crack heads.

It's all we saw for over a decade.

Thankfully we can see the entire truth nowadays.

Without camera phones and exposure on media, there would be ZERO accountability.

It's about time!

How the hell are the neighbors calling the cops "morons" in this situation? Thy are literally the only ones in the right here. The kids were breaking the law by trespassing, fighting, etc. These weren't some innocent babies. They were knowingly trespassing at a private pool because some idiot posted invitations to parties at a pool where he didn't belong. The cop in the video is a raving lunatic. The neighbors did the right thing.

I need to correct myself here, as it has come out that I am at least somewhat wrong, and I will openly admit it.

It appears that one neighbor in particular was actually the biggest troublemaker of them all (the white woman who slapped one of the kids). So yes, THAT neighbor is not only a moron, but a criminal.

Any neighbor who called the police to deal with the trespassing, noise, or fighting issues is not, though. They did the right thing.

This.

I love how everyone who is defending the cops is trying to place all the blame on the kids to justify his actions. Is no one going to try to find out who that ADULT white woman was who started all this by calling the kids racial slurs?

I saw yesterday that the woman who started the fight has had her identity put out there, and people are contacting her employer telling them how terrible she is.

Shhhh, you're asking the right questions and making sense.

Not defending the cop. I said he was wrong but I can also see his side as well as the other side. Sorry but he's not the only bad guy in this situation. Again, the neighbors called the cops and you have people calling them names and bashing them for doing so. I have seen these things first hand where "kids will be kids" and it doesn't end well for the adults in this situation. Again, if you had kids and these kids were fighting and bringing it over onto your property, how would you feel?

And about the use of the N-word............I'm sorry but that word does not hold the same meaning it did years ago. I've heard white people call each other that. I've heard Mexicans call each other that and I've heard black people call white people that. It's on every song on the radio, on every movie, and tv show so for people to say that it's what got this thing started is BS. It's a cop out and an excuse. If black people don't want people to use that word, then it shouldn't be used in the black community as well. I hate that word and I don't use it but I'm not going to label someone a racist because they do. Why? Every rapper and celebrity seems to glorify the word to make it cool so you can't be surprised that everyone wants to use it.

I don't know that people are specifically defending the cops. There is commentary of that video, and the reports from when it came to light. I actually hadn't even heard about the woman who called the kids racial slurs until just now. Link?

Please refute my post and tell me I'm wrong. We've had this discussion numerous times at barbershops and have had to talk down numerous arse whoopings because whether people want to realize it or not, the word does not hold the same meaning it did years ago. Heck, I had to realize that as well. I hate that word but I'm not going to be blinded and say that it is used in a racial way every time.

It does still have the same meaning, Docker, no matter how often it is used in society or the media. You gonna tell a woman she shouldn't be offended by the word "b i t c h" because it "doesn't have the same meaning" since its "all over TV and movies" too?

I agree that rappers and black people as a whole should stop using it. I am black and I don't use it at all. I use to when I was younger, but once I got older and more mature and talked to my grandmother and great aunt who dealt with real racism, I promptly stopped. But it's a flimsy excuse to say it's okay for any race to say the N word because rappers, and black comedians use it. People need to have enough common sense to know the word is derogatory no matter if it's used with an "A" at the end or an "R".

There should be no word that is exclusively for use by one race, ethnicity or minority. If anyone is refused the right to use that word, it should be refused for everyone.

You can't complain of discrimination then use a word of discrimination exclusively for yourself. And that should not apply only to racial slurs. There are plenty of sexist and ethnic ones I see "appropriated" by people as "their" word when it just reinforces an idea that using the word means whatever the connotation is.

If you don't want other people to call you something, don't use it yourself.

Black people as a whole are never going to stop saying the N-word. It's deeply ingrained into urban slang and urban culture. White people need to accept that blacks use it in their own context and move on instead of saying "waaah, it's not fair we can't use it".

Pretty much this. Like I said before, I do think black people as a whole should stop using the N word, but it's highly unlikely that will ever happen. I do think it's ignorant when I hear other black people call each other or other races the N word, but to blacks it means something different. Like if other races starting using it in reference to blacks, it can be interpreted differently and the certainly be racist people using it as a derogatory word.

I agree with your post except it being a flimsy excuse. When ever I visit Asia, I've heard people say "hey ******" or "what's up my ******" and at first I wanted to whoop some arse but they simply didn't know what it really means. They only go by what they see on tv and videos. If you are a white dude and all you hang around is black people who use that word all the time, you can't tell me that you ain't going to use it. Sorry but it's reality. It also amazes me that those same guys who got into a fight with the woman who called them that was blasting music that was saying that word over and over again.

I agree 100%!!!

Then you can't yell racism when someone calls you that. "Urban" culture has seemed to go worldwide and made it cool for that word to be used because, again, it seems to be on every song and station, and even in song titles. I remember people got pissed at Gwen Paltry for saying she was bumping the song "n**gas in Paris* but she was only repeating the title. The word should be banned and until black people stop using it, then don't expect other people to not use it.

It's fine if you think black people shouldn't say it but it's beyond naïve to think others will magically stop saying it if blacks do. If someone wants to offend me that's one of the words they will use. Just like I know which words to use if I want to offend jewish people, Italians, Asians, Puerto Ricans, etc.

I agree 100% but the way it's used now, people make it out to be cool. I have never heard a Mexican high five another Mexican and say my w**b***!! The N word seems to be that one word that has been made to be cool and insulting at the same time.
