The Dark Knight Rises Adapting Robin

Now THAT is what I want to see happening, more redesigns on Robin. Fabulous work Nefilim . Yeah he looks a little too mature, maybe 'grizzly' is a better word, kinda reminds me of Nomad or Winter Solder which I suppose can be good in some ways.....but not when one sidekick is a jaded 80yr old WWII veteran and the other is an exuberant young acrobat. Love the detail in the costume; along with the RobinHood/medievil look that's one element I've always thought should be in Robins film design, detail. When I first saw the TDK suit I thought it would be perfect for Robin, and it almost is. A cowl piece like that will never work for me though. Has to be a domino mask. There's no point using Robin if you're confined to the same degree of 'realism' displayed in BB. The mask is part of his iconography and narrative symbolism. That said, at the time I made this thread I was convinced that it had to go :O :whatever:.

I just used a grown-up pic of Haley Joel Osment as reference, hence all the facial hair. :D

Anyways here's another one, with Emile Hirsch, as suggested by Gwynplaine
(of course, his facial structure is quite difficult to replicate by hand and with the addition of the mask, he seems a lil' off)... :D

I used a pen, an ordinary Mongol # 2 pencil and a Staedler 4B Charcoal pencil.

@Nepenthes

Yeah I gotcha on that one, just wondering if Nolan or some other director incorporated Robin into his Bat-verse he might look something like that. :)

Once again, very good work. You mkake Robin look like a character I'd want to see on screen. As an anti-Robin I am.

I am really liking that big mask. I can also see it working on Nightwing if modified to be a big bird on his face.

Aw man would Nightwing look cool as hell in the style of the new movies.

you know they could do what they did in star wars have dick come in as nine years old become Robin finish with Batman taking him on then with the next movie fast foward to ten years with their being a rift between Batman and Robin but, they're still make up and have arguments but, in the next one it could be set a straight after with Robin and Batman having an argument which leads to Robin leaving.

Its a nice idea but i see too much focus on Robin. Ithink if Robin is too survive in a Bat movie he has to play a strict supporting role like Alfred (little tension between the two)

I had a Idea I came up with a idea for Robin right after I saw Batman Begins. My thought was that he was like robin hood so After Bruce takes him in Dick would steal from the rich and give to the poor. Batman looks into this and finds out that Dick is stealing from the rich but finds out what he's doing with the money. Dick later steals from Bruce and finds the batcave and Bruce Catches him. That's where I'm at right now. I'm currenty writing a script right now. The villans are Two-Face and Slade/Deathstroke. My main influence was Robin Year One (Really Good Comic) and thats why Two-Face is in my script because that was Robin's time to shine and he failed Batman and that sort of builds tension between the 2. My other idea is just skip Robin and go to Nightwing to make it more realistic.

That is really not a bad idea. I like it. Robin using what he has in order to help the weak and downtrodden. Deathstroke in there as his nemesis would be cool too.

So, do you think they should be rid of the old costume or do you think they should keep it for at least the first movie Robin's in?

Oh it should definitel be kept but the torso should be armored (protect the vitals without hindering his main weapon: his agility). I'd like to see Robin steal some armor/technology from Wayne Enterprises to help him in his little crusade/mission. Maybe mix in some Tim Drake and have him find a telescopic staff that's really just designed to be a component of something else.

I really hope that this Robin is closer to TAS incarnation as he was pretty damn interesting to watch.

A part of me kind of hopes Nolan will have a change of heart and cracks enough to let Dick Grayson into the franchise.

Yeah, he needs to let Robin in the franchise. He has a pretty big & pretty strong fanbase so letting Robin be a part of these movies would be a big up on his part.

All-Star Robin might be the best Robin I've seen so far

i think when Robin first shows up he is wearing the traditional robin suit. And like the ned of Batman says to him "you might want to rethink the costume" and robin says "no these are my family colours blah blah blah and have alfred say soemthing like "i think he's was talking more along the lines of pants."

lol As funny as that is, I don't want to see the guy running around in his undies on the street. :oldrazz: Spraypained armor like Batman's in Batman Begins would be fine. Especially since Batman is already wearing new armor, himself, anyway.

I think they should take the batsuit get rid of the bat slap on an "R" and make it the colors of the OYL suit in the comics but make it darker.

Yeah, the colors should be paying homage to his family.

WB is getting idea's from several screenwriters including akiva goldsman with ways to introduce Dick Grayson into the batman franchise once again, ive heard some rumors around and if this were to happen the character would be darker and a much more mature character. They might introduce Dick Grayson in the next film if Nolan does not sign a tenative agreement on 2 more films, if Nolan doesnt signm then they'll probably introduce Dick Grayson.

P.S i really am impressed by your ideas on this board. :Batman:

wot i meant was it could be like his circus costume kind of like Jason Todd did for a while and then, Batman comments on it telling him to chnage it.

Yeah but do you think of him wearing it out first before Bruce comments on it? Because I don't want to see that guy leaving the mansion premises wearing that thing.

To be honest Batman Forever had it right. I'd just have made the guy younger because a grown man moving in with a grown man...kinda weird. I mean there's a certain age where being adopted is no longer necessary.

could you do one of Johnathan Bennet as Nightwing or Logan Lerman as robin pease?
