Add deleted scenes?

  • YES!!!!!!!!! (It will attract more people to see the film again, thus sinking Titanic!)

  • No (I'm a purist-Republican conservative type person)

Huh, this is ridiculous?

Why should they re-edit the flick because some fans like the shots from the trailers better than what was in the final cut?

I mean, The Dark Knight is out... accept it for what it is or become directors, then you can decide which shots to include by yourself. ;)

"Yo Hitchcock, that shot sucks... you should've used the other take. Universal, please fix that, okay? And re-release it on DVD".

don't get lemon.
i just think the shots of him screaming "HIT MEEE!!!" from the trailer was better than just seeing him from behind. even though i did like that shot, did anyone else notice his twitching hands? like he was bubbling with rage.

There's a little scene in the screenplay where the joker disguises his voice as a woman when he calls the engel show. That was cut.

**** , that would be pretty awesome to see .

i also kinda wish that the whole " fear gas joker " scene was a deleted scene that we might be able to see in the future .

If Nolan won't want to add more scenes to the Jan'09 re-release, couldn't Warner Brothers just add it themselves without Nolan's approval? Warner Brothers and DC Comics have more power than Nolan when it comes to the ownership of "Batman".

yea but would you really want the studio taking over creative control? that would be a disaster, the reason Nolan is so good is because he doesn't fold under pressure of the studio.

As I said earlier: the reason they are re-releasing the film is for Oscar consideration. Because of this, they will absolutely not release a modified film. That would not serve their purposes. What's more, they would not tamper with a film they think is Oscar worthy, anyway. Finally, even if they all hit their heads, suffered brain damage and wanted to add scenes to the film, they still wouldn't do it--because they don't want to piss of the director who just made them half a billion dollars; a director they're trying to get to come back and make them another half billion.

I think your memory is off. We did see him shouting "Hit me" from the front. It was a different take, but it was there.

Exactly.

Nolan would simply pack up his bags and head to another studio. (Probably not Fox, but...anyway. :hehe: ) And right now, he's their cash cow.

yeah the joker gas scene was just a rumor. back then we didnt know that scarecrow is only at the beginning of the movie.

so the joker gas scene never happened.

where are people getting those ideas? so now the studio is making the movie?

if the studio is able to make a better TDK movie then why even hire a director?

plus lets get some brain in here. the purpose of the re-realese is for oscars. the movie that made 500 milions will be realesed. why would you realese a different version of the movie? again where are those people born? on the moon or what?

i understand when someone opens a thread where he wants the deleted alternate shots on the DVD. but to include them in a new edit? this is just crazy.

It'd be smart for WB to add deleted scenes that weren't on the DVD to the re-release. Thus beating Boretanic.

Then re-release it later that year, pulling a Lucas on us. Oh well, I'll buy it again.

i don't think there will be scenes added to the new re-release, but i think theres a good chance that on the DVD/Blu-Ray there will be multiple shots of different scenes. or a behind the scenes featurette with different takes on it.

Do we know if it was ever filmed?
I believe it was filmed, but trimmed. The Joker says something in a womans voice, and then Engel says "Who is This?"

In the actual film it cuts straight to Engel saying "Who is this?" And then the Joker announces his threat to Reese. So the whole speech in the woman's voice was cut.

But, technically there's no proof right? I'm just curious as to whether it's a fact that it was filmed or cut before shooting.

This thread is made of fail. :(

agreed.

he said "hit me" from the front a few times actually. first a wide shot of him mumbling "hit me cmon i want cha to do it" batman screams and then the final shot was a very tight shot "HIT ME!" .

bottom line: tdk is the way chris nolan wants it. put all the extended and alternate takes on the dvd (please!) but leave the film untouched.

Wrong. Sorry. That scene is still included, they just chose to use a different take of it. Doesn't mean that entire scene is deleted. A real deleted scene is a scene that they chose not to include in the movie to shorten the length of it, and because the scene didn't alter the plot of the movie. For example, in Iron Man, that scene where Stark takes those girls upstairs that wasn't actually included? THAT is a deleted scene. All that footage that they just decide not to use is just that. Extra footage. Extra takes. The same scene, just a little bit different.

yeah, I see....

Then I would like an extended cut....because it's obvious that a lot of scenes were trimmed (or not?), when the film lasts more than two hours. Scenes are jumping from one moment to another without pause.

I just watched Dr. Strangelove.
Now.
That felt long.

I agreee; about 90% of the trailers were not featured in the film at all, which was very disappointing. I found that some of the scenes, like you also said, 'jumped', particularly the party scene in Bruce's penthouse; could have been cleared up a lot better if they kept in Joker and his goons' escape (like in the screenplay and the novelization).
