Agent Carter Agent Carter General Discussion Thread - Part 1

Do people really want to meet Anna Jarvis? I never want to meet her. I think she should always be a running joke like Niles's wife Maris on Frasier, where we frequently hear about her but never see her. We might come close to seeing her, but we would always miss her.

BTW, did only one of the Russo brothers direct an episode? Also, I thought that Joe Johnston was down to direct one, but he doesn't seem to have.

Nah, Anna Jarvis is a needless character. A running joke is far more fun and fits in with Jarvis' character

will there be a DVD release? Or just go straight to a format like NetFlix or ITunes?

We should eventually get a DVD/Blu-Ray release (I don't see why we wouldn't). Nothing has been announced yet though as to a release date.

I found this tidbit on a site about shield filming locations!

This "hospital" is actually the Mary Andrews Clark Memorial Residence,
located at 306 S. Loma Drive, Los Angeles, about a half mile west of downtown.
It shows up a lot on TV.
[SIZE=-1]
Fans of TV's "Agent Carter" should recognize it as the Griffith Hotel,
the strict, girls-only boarding house where Peggy Carter lived[SIZE=-1]
Fans of the TV's Teen Wolf may recognize it as the creepy insane asylum "Echo House".

The imposing home has an interesting history. It was built in 1913 by William Andrews Clark,
a philanthropist, to provide safe, inexpensive housing to girls who had to work
(in a day when most women didn't work) - not unlike the Griffith Hotel.
Unlike most YWCA's, this was a rather elegant residence, closer to a private estate than
public housing. The 200 girls living there got a great bargain. For only about $20 a week,
they got a nice room, free meals, laundry, even maid service. But they had to adhere
to the home's strict rules of behavior, which included no men allowed upstairs.
The home was shut down for a while after it was damaged by the 1987 earthquake.
It reopened in 1995 as low-income housing for both men & women.
The French Chateauesque building has been declared an Historic-Cultural Monument
and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
It's used often for filming, as well. For instance, it was the performing arts
school attended by Hilary Duff in the 2004 movie "Raise Your Voice".

Ms. Atwell would like to see if Agent Carter was renewed for a season 2

I would like one of two things: I'd really like to explore her background of where she's come from, what her family was like, what created this exceptionally strong and unique woman and secondly, I'd like to go a few years in the future, to see how she tackles being a mother and a wife, as well as being kick-ass in the office.

She would love to do an Agent Carter movie!

She'd love to see the Winter Soldier appear in the series:
That would be great. The exciting thing is, we can have so many crossovers with different worlds in the Marvel Universe."

Peggy Carter is set to make yet another appearance on the big screen, not only in Avengers: Age of Ultron, but In Ant-Man.
She crosses over, but it's more of a cameo. It's not a flashback, well, it is, but not to the point where it's 1946."

Quick question. Is the Agent Carter one-shot included in the Iron Man 3 disc considered canon? I have only watched the first episode of the series and it seems as if there are some discrepancies.
I'm sure this has been asked, but I'd really like to know.

Seeing as it comes after the series, we don't know. Probably not though. If you want to fit it in though use your imagination.

from what i know it is canon, just unsure what year it was supposed to be taking place.

It takes place in fantasy land where Howard Stark runs the SSR and SHIELD for some reason...

Consider it partially canon at this point. The broad strokes are there, just the detail probably doesn't hold up

My typical response (since it has come up before) is, absent official explanation, I'll treat anything in it as canon unless it has been retconned by the show. If it's as simple as retconning the year it takes place in, that's easy enough. If it requires more work, it'll eventually be difficult to figure out.

jack got rid of her from the office because he's a carpet bagger and all, so she had to start out somewhere else. Howard all responsible after destroying his weapons convinces politicians they they need to go big, takes a few months but is put in charge.

Well, he was only a guest star, so I wouldn't read too much into it. The lack of info is a bigger concern.

I want a 2nd season renewal. To me the core characters are peggy and jarvis.. if Cooper's appearances are minimized, it can probably be worked around. They already found all his old nutty gadgets.. or did they?

I want more Agent Carter. I need more Agent Carter. Hayley is so perfect in the role. Such a treat to watch. Need more.

I would also like a second season, preferably right after the one shot. A nice tie in with a young Hank Pym would go a long way.

ugh I saw this thread bumped and thought a 2nd season was confirmed :(

I'm watching Daredevil series and it is so much better than Agent Carter. I hope they get renewed just for redemption's sake. It's got potential but it was so tamed and boring.

I think the main storyline was not really intersting, it was the execution that elevated it and made it great. I think with a better premise/setup a 2nd season could be brilliant.
