Agent Carter Agent Carter General Discussion Thread - Part 1

I absolutely love it. Intelligent character drama beats "whiz" and "bap" every time in my book. This show is being executed perfectly.

Any thoughts on who or what did all the killing during the War in Russia? Could that be Winter Soldier related or is this early Inhumans stuff?

It could be Inhuman related .It would tie back into SHIELD before we switch back.

And we know of one Inhuman who has been on AOS this season that was alive at the time - Skye's mother. We can be pretty sure that Peggy was personally involved in liberating from HYDRA and more than likely either debriefed 'Kim' herself or at least read the files as that was her mission they were running when the 084 and GH's bod were captured .She must have gotten the intel from somewhere about what the thing could do or not do in the first place.

And would Peggy or SSR knowing that there was something strange about her or whatever tale about the 084 she told them let her wander off through Communist held Europe and then Asia by herself .Or would she have been shipped back Stateside and kept at the least under observation and on the register.

I wish Dottie were the Clairvoyant!! That was a missed opportunity on the part of Marvel. She could've been both the golden age Black Widow AND the Clairvoyant, since she went by that silly name back in the day.

Marvel need to retcon it now that Dottie is still alive in modern day (after all Peggy is) and is actually the one being referred to in AOS in Season 1.

Not unless Steve rescued Bucky and a bunch of prisoners in Italy in 1943 more than once. :cwink:

Oh that Bucky, always getting himself into trouble.

More seriously, I like the allied propaganda theory. Of course the news reel would inflate the number. Later, the Smithsonian would fact check it and find out it wasn't nearly that much.

Or, alternatively, the correct number was lost to time and historians debate what the real number was. Rather than pick something that could be false, they went with the conservative estimate done by some historians.

... how do you "know" dottie is alive? She might not of died of natural causes

she still may too old TODAY to do any "work" per say.

I could believe that

Even better

Maybe Leviathan was founded by the Inhumans, maybe even the same eyeless guy we saw in What They Become.

The HYDRA facilities we saw in Shadows and The Things We Bury are two different locations.

Therefore, we can't know for sure if Skye's mother was liberated by Peggy when Reinhardt was captured.

Peggy is alive, Dottie is not.

Peggy is alive, Dottie is not.

Which is why I said "Marvel need to retcon it now..." In other words, they need to change what might have been established in the continuity to make it that she's actually alive.

If you only highlight the other part of my sentence but miss out the vital part that comes immediately before, of course you'll say what you said above. :whatever:

The Clairvoyant is
Garrett.
The Clairvoyant =/= Claire Voyant.
The Clairvoyant had nothing to do with Claire Voyant, not the same thing at all.

I know who the Clairvoyant is. I said that Marvel missed any opportunity though because the golden age Black Widow had such a similar name and that Marvel could retcon things so that it is revealed that she is actually the Clairvoyant and not Garrett.

Why? the story of Aos would make no sense then.

It isn't even the same name.
And one is a nickname, and the other one is a real name.

And Claire Voyant is a servant of Satan and is a spirit medium, skilled at communicating with the deceased
it is not even the same fake powers of the Clairvoyant.
And she is a superhero not a bad guy.

Marvel can still do the character Claire Voyant if they want, two completly different thing.

Finally watched this week's episode. Another great episode, the addition of Howard really helped to elevate it, but the lack of Peggy/Jarvis interaction was a real shame

But this was the poorest episode so far. The show seems to have no direction. In the opening half, Howard returned (for some reason), verified all his stuff was safe, and wrapped that side up. Meanwhile the guy who organised Howard's return came after them, then got killed, wrapping that up. So the SSR dude went to Germany (for some reason), talked to a guy and then... well what?

The show seems to have lost its throughline already. It was about Stark's tech, but now? I have no idea. Feels like we're done just 4 episodes in, and Peggy seems to be done with Jarvis too. What gives?

Stark came back for Steve's blood.

+ or - :
The SSR investigated the people who stole Stark's techs, two Russian guys who were supposes to have died at the battle of Finow (Soviet Union vs Nazi.)

So the chief went to see a Nazi who fight at this battle but the Nazi told him there was no Battle of Finow, everybody was already dead when he arrived.

And Stark went to Finow, the day after the battle.

They want to arrest Stark, and find out the truth about this conspiracy now.

I thought it was pretty obvious stark came back because

1) Jarvis informed him he and Peggy found his stolen tech and that SHIELD had it

and

2) Tony knew steve's blood was among the stolen items.. and wanted to protect it.

The assassin who brough him back to the states probably caught wind of why he was returning and wanted to sell the blood as well

as for why the agent went to russia... Pokkle explains it well

It's a pretty thin link from the first half to the second half of the series though? I love the show, don't get me wrong, but it seems to be lacking a throughline

Saw clip of the next episode:

And Peggy somehow knows the other three Howling Commandos. My guess is that they began working with Peggy in the waning days of the war (basically after the fall of Berlin but before the atomic bombs fell on Japan) from April 1945 to August 1945.

If you found the stolen object, you still need to catch the culprit.
They need to found, the Leviathan/Russian organization who hired the bulgar, the killer, and the guy/girl/(Hello Dottie) who kill the agent and the witness.

The contrary would be weird, closing the case without even searching the culprit.

It's a bait and switch. We thought the Stark Mission was the main point, turns out it was only about the blood the whole time, Peggy isn't done with either Stark or Jarvis just because she is pissed at them. The fact the Mr. Mink was set up as dangerous only to have him wiped out immediately was to help set up the even more formidable Dottie (a product of the Black Widow program) which will undoubtedly tie into Finow and future confrontations for Peggy.

I do agree that the main threat could be a bit better telegraphed but there is definitely a story here. Even without it thought the show is still compelling. It is exploring overlooked corners of the MCU and expanding character histories.

Ep.4 Review:

I do think it can be a bit more focused but I've been telling myself each episode that its just setting up for the final couple episodes which will probably be epic.

Can't wait for the next show. This is going to be AWESOME
