Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. - 3x08 - "Many Heads, One Tale" - Discussion Thread

ward told the passengers to fasten their seat belts maybe in his mind that was the same chance he gave fitz and simmons by dropping them into the ocean in a containment unit, or how he justifies it to himself.

Maclick may have got information on simmons coming back from andrew. He basically asked him for information on shield at the conclusion of their bonding session. We don't know if andrew responded. also last week malick also knows strucker is alive and in a coma so possibly another mole but not someone who was there where Simmons came back.

whats the point of the small monalith piece? is it a trophy?

Do the really have to get all the other miniliths to be able to make a portal? What if the containment vessel had a larger surface area? Wouldn't the surface of it in it's liquid form be big enough for a person so go through?

If only there was a tiny person who could travel through the MiniMonolith™...

Simmons telling Fitz "you tore a hole in the universe for me", very similar to K.Reese saying to Sara : "I've traveled through time for you".

"You dove through a hole in the universe for me."

Talking about Ward, I like the progression of the character but they should maybe tone down the evil for evil sake attitude, that lessen the early coolness of his turn to the dark side.

I'm not feeling Ward's direction myself. Evil James Bond should be a fun concept especially in this show but this season it feels like he's just puttering around. Awesome fight scene though.

It's probably for running tests. Malick probably keeps this miniature Monolith around so that he can test how it works and observe up close how it pulls objects into a portal. It would be much too dangerous to run these tests on the large, full-size Monolith, so having a smaller, much less dangerous model around would be useful for learning how it works.

If that were the case, it wouldn't make sense why Will helped Simmons escape then.

One more thought that just occurred to me is that this legend of an inhuman being sent away is probably why Jaiying thought (or at least implied) it was specifically deadly to inhumans; a plot point seemingly lost from last season I suppose could be reasoned from this.

I've been thinking about that sceen, when will decided to stay behind, several times. It seems the most logical thing Will could have done was to run for the portal with Jemma. Why didn't he? If he was just a regular guy, it's hard to find a reason. Maybe he suddenly realised that he became too attached to the planet and could not imagine coming home? It seem very unlikely though. Or it was obvios for some reason, that only one of them can make it and we will learn more in future episodes.

Or Will is not just a regular guy and he helped Jemma get home, because he knew she would come back with more people - which could be the goal.

On the other hand, if that dark figure was not the banished inhuman, but some sort of guardian, why it just walks around and looks spooky?

Someone mentioned above, that Jemma found water after a sand storm. I guess that's quite unusual, the sand seems more likely to hide it. This could indicate, that the planet helped her and the figure, that's obviously connected with the storms, is some manifestation of the planet.

About Jaying and the monolith, it's possible that more inhumans were threatened with the monolith. Details were lost in time, it just remains known as a form of punishment.

I am liking the theory on the other planet somehow being active in keeping the inhuman trapped on the planet, perhaps it will explain why the monolith grabbed Simmons in the first place, it needed her for some reason yet to be explained in order to keep the evil contained.

So far, I'm loving this season! Great episode and I can't help thinking that Roz is acting all innocent and that it's part of the plan to garner Phil's complete trust.

The Monolith grabs the first living creature it reaches. Simmons had the misfortune of being the only living creature in the room. That's all.

The fighting choreography in this show is superb.
Compared to Arrow and other 'action' type shows it's just leaps and bounds better.

You know my mother-in-law?

How did you know? That secret was better guarded than HYDRA's true origin. I smell some conspiracy here.

I FINALLY got around to watching this episode, and it was one of the best this show has ever had! I really loved it. Getting all the history about HYDRA was great.

They are bringing in Ant Man! for the mini monolith!:wowe:

I'm pretty sure she said "one of my favourite superheroes", since her #1 favourite is Jean Grey, and I doubt she's coming on the show.

the wording "favorite superhero" seems to suggest that it likely won't be Ward turning into an established character.

Is your spoiler confirmed ?
Please show the source.

Source please.

I highly doubt that. After the success of Ant-Man at the BO, I'm positive we would have heard of Scott, or any Ant-Man, appearing on AoS.

What's the point of spoiler code if you just make it obvious what was inside. Even if it's fake, why not air on the side of coding your response in case it's not?
