People in the forum have been complaining about the lack of comic characters/references quite a bit lately. It's been kinda ridiculous. I'm just trying to point out that we're getting way more comic references than some users will admit.
AH okay. Yeah, the show is SUPPOSED to be more like X-Files but finding people with powers and take care of unexplainable Objects or events.
I think we've seen the closest to a superhero appearing on the show last night.

I want to watch it over and over at home lol I was really hoping we'd get to see that Blonde chick get turned into Brunhilde, but AH well
Yay! I'm loving all the positive reactions to this episode!! I was really getting tired of people ****ing and moaning after every episode.

Anyway, I'll add to my earlier translations on the Berserker Staff. In addition to "INSPIRE", "RAGE" and "FIGHT" that I saw earlier, it also says "POWER." I think there is one more word that there isn't a clear shot of, but that word might just be "power" a second time.

Also, I liked that they *almost* said the Berserker Staff was made out of Uru. They described the staff as an otherworldly metal with strange properties. Of course, these Midgardians wouldn't know to call it Uru, so I'll still count it as a reference. :yay: (Speaking of Marvel Metals... vibranium!)

This episode, I like it! :more: Another!

Hopefully the remaining Episodes will keep this quality.

I'm happy with all of them so far. hopefully the dvd will be affordable for EVERYONE

take your minds of the gutter guys, maybe Ward feels like May needs someone to talk to since they both experienced the same thing by holding the asgardian staff.

I'm sure some staff holding took place in that room :hehe:

Really enjoyed this episode.
I was expecting more tie-in to the actual events of TDW than just the cleanup we saw, but I still enjoyed what we got.
That MayWard scene, came out of nowhere. I hope they keep doing stuff like that, keep us guessing.

Did anyone else get the impression that Ward's little brother ended up dying? I don't recall him actually grabbing on to the rope once Ward lowered it to him.

That, or maybe he ended up getting saved, but suffered brain damage, because he drowned and didn't get enough oxygen.

Anyone else hope Ward stays a bit ragey? I don't want him to get a handle on his temper too quickly.

True, I was expecting at the end of the episode to see him make a call to a hospital where someone answered and you see a bed-ridden guy in the background... Maybe in a future episode.

And yeah, the Asgardian did say to Ward some of those secondary effects could last a couple of decades, so he should be showing the effects of what happened in this Ep for some time.
As should May, although she seems to have handled it better, somehow... hmmm.

It's the tai chi. Clearly Ward's going to have to go a few rounds with May on the mats.

I'm unclear which one of the boys in the flashback is actually Ward.
The taller boy, who ordered that the rope not be lowered yet, had the stronger physical resemblance to Ward.

And re. May and Ward's ....whatever......McNichol's Aesgardian is "horny" to an extreme.......could that be an after effect of ....cough.... holding the staff?

Yeah, that's what I thought happened. Big Kid bullies Ward into not saving Little Brother, Little Brother dies, Ward hates Big Kid.

And likely hates himself as well (for not standing up to his older brother, for not reacting/saving his little brother sooner, etc...)

So which boy in Ward's flashback was actually Ward?

The chubby one.
Trenton Rogers is listed as "Young Grant Ward." The tall skinny bully --- who looks surprisingly like a young Brett Dalton, is listed as "Maynard." (Ward's brother is just listed as "Boy In Well.")

I don't think he died. They would've implied that. Instead, the scene showed Ward lowering the rope to his brother while Maynard was away.

I get the impression that Maynard might be his brother, too....an older, bullying, psychotic one. Willing to bet we'll see/hear more about the well incident.

May and Ward might have shagged but that seems a little unprofessional. I think they're just having a drink and talking through Ward's issues.

go a few rounds

This phrase will be forever altered now thanks to this show.

Same here.

Also I will have to watch the scene with the ranger again, I guess I missed their intent with that bit.

No, it's clear Ward is the middle kid. Remember in a previous episode he said to Skye that his motivation for learning to fight was to protect his younger brother from an abusive older brother.

This was a great episode. I loved how it finally made Ward more than just a one dimensional character. I know many of been waiting for that. I like the slow burn of the character's backgrounds. That's a great thing about this and it's the usual in a Jossverse series.

I also liked that it's implied that May gave Ward a piece of that ass. Well, either that or they drank and confided in each other. Probably the latter, but possibly both.

:o

The episode was very good, with some nice development for Ward and almost no goofiness. The prof turning out to be Asgardian was a neat twist. (If Pip the Troll ever appears in a GOTG sequel, Peter MacNicol is the guy who should play him.) Ward's shirtless scene was right on time, as he needed to show another side of his personality. :cwink: When he told all of the children off I laughed for about ten minutes. They deserved that.

Ward was really hot when he was half-naked and being mean to everyone. Brava to Agent May for making a toy-boy of him. They can work out their leftover aggression on each other. :awesome:

Although I enjoyed the glimpses of Ward's past and that it turned out to be slightly different than expected, it did remind me a lot of the Clint & Barney Barton dynamic. Skye and her boring history are a bit of a knock-off of Peter Parker's story, too. But the writers can probably deny any influences since they've all professed ignorance of the comic source. (Which explains how they could name a character Mike Peterson and not know that there was a character of the same name in a Marvel comic.)

FTFY :cwink:

I can't see May and Ward talking about their feelings since neither of them talks much. I can see them sharing some feelings, though. :cwink:

It's not like 616 Mike Peterson is a huge and important character. or even a D-lister, he's Z at best, not even included on the Marvel Wiki
