Except the rogue agent said that death follows her wherever she goes. And there's the fact that hundreds of people fought and died to protect/capture her in Hunan Province alone.

She's either got powers, or she's the Messiah...or the Antichrist. :oldrazz: People don't lay down their lives in an all-out war for a baby unless they think the child is either mankind's greatest hope or greatest curse.

The way this is being set up is straight out of Men in Black II. Swap in Rosario Dawson, The Light of Zartha and a Brooklyn pizzeria for Skye Nolastname, her mysterious "power" and a Hunan village. Agent Coulson is obviously Agent K, the father (substitute), and Ward will stand in for Agent J (even though he's banging May). Eventually she'll get a one-way Slingshot back to her home planet pursued by an alien tentacle monster, if the writers carry through with the parallels.

If the tentacled monster turns out to be Shuma-Gorath I'll gladly accept the parallel.

Honestly, I doubt Ian Quinn has any major assets in SHIELD-active nations, anyway. He didn't exactly hide the fact that he thought them the evil science police keeping down progress, and having facilities somewhere SHIELD has jurisdiction would be just asking for regular "inspections".

Guess what I voted just to be "that guy".................you guessed it. I. Am. Awesome.

PS- I didn't hate the episode fyi. I just want attention. :csad:
lol GET HIM AGENTS!!!!!!

Good point...
I was thinking about the semantics of this, though. "084" is technically an "OBJECT of unknown origin." Would SHIELD really use that term for a person of unknown origin...? Unlikely. This is SHIELD's bread and butter, so they clearly have a way to designate if any given agent/team is supposed to approach an *object* rather than a *being.* Plus, they never used the "084" designation on any of the "unregistered gifted" they approached in this series.

So....wouldn't they have used the term "gifted" for her, if they suspected she had powers? Indicates to me that they *didn't* think the baby had powers.

So....what, then?

Skye wasn't the 084 the team was after.
....The object she was found in was the 084.

She had to have been found *inside* an 084.
An alien artifact.
Or craft/lifepod.

(It's Smallville.)
*That's* why I think she's an alien.

good point..!!!

I just rewatched the episode. I skimmed through this thread (so may have missed it) but has anyone else thought about this -

When the two guys started the weather machine, it sort of coughed and then seemed to do nothing. The inventors even didn't think it worked.

The storm started when Sky was being told about her past by Coulson. The more intense her look, at what she was being told, the bigger the storm got.

We have no way at this time of knowing if the weather machine blowing up stopped the storm (it could have died down as Sky calmed down)...but it's destruction did seem to channel power into Donnie.

So....could she have created the storm?

I think that was just a thematic thing. To have **** hit the fan both physically( the storm appearing) and emotionally( Skye's revelation) at the same time. That whole moment ( as well as the music) was my favorite part of the episode.

Your theory's still interesting nonetheless

I'm sure they will show up, probably as part of some kind of Ian Quinn Revenge Squad.

This was a pretty good episode that did some more interesting things with the characters. Skye and Coulson's relationship is the only one I care for, and there was good material here. Fitz being played as something other than a goofy sidekick was much appreciated as well.

This also struck a good balance budget-wise too. It didn't feel really cheap at any point, which I often get when the show gets a bit too ambitious for its own good. Don't buy May as an arse kicker at all, but her fight scene was brief and fairly well executed.

Would be nice if that seemed to be the case, my problem is that they're idiots and their teaching staff even bigger ones!

A lecture and no one notices that device being placed, this is a SHIELD Facility after all so there should be monitors and the one thing they should have done is had nothing with the original event so when SHIELD comes in they don't immediately suspect everyone present... okay at least Ward acted the part but seriously once they recognised the device they should have turned the entire place over looking for more let alone scanning for the energy signature of that device even inactive it should have been some attempt to make sure there wasn't any others!

Hmm caller id, anyone thought to triangulate where that call was being answered and just shoot the plane down anyway?

Yes its Coulson, could have sicced Victoria Hand on him...

Actually liked the set up for what they found out about Skye, doubt it will measure up any better than how they handled how Coulson came back though...

All in all, didn't think much of the episode, don't have anything against Skye, Ward at least seemed fine but could have worked better if they revealed one of the teachers was involved maybe even having had the supplies used but wasn't aware the devices had been pinched rather than nobody searching the students rooms... I mean highly intelligent doesn't fit in and nobody bothered to check their backgrounds?

I'm considering getting my edit on when the season is through. If the later episodes satisfy me, I might see what I can do to create a more streamlined first half using the strongest plots. The only episodes I remember with any fondness at the moment are 1, 4 & 12, but there are bits and pieces of others I've liked. Might be a fun project.
