Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Agents of SHIELD TV series for ABC - General Discussion - LEVEL 9

we didnt see cap when either ironman or thor were in help.. it just implies that he was preoccupied or didnt learn about the situation until it was too late..
just assume the same for the issues with centipede/clairvoyant

We had reasons for SHIELD not to be involved in IM3 and (less so in) Thor 2. SHIELD is involved in AoS, and if something is important to SHIELD, they should send in Cap.

That said, it's clear that they don't send in Cap for missions that go against his code of ethics, and as such, going to kill the brainwashed robot-man would not qualify as a Cap mission.

But capturing a brainwashed robo-man would surely fall under his remit, rather than sending in 20 standard agents?

Hmmm... Hmmm... I got nothin. Good point.

Really can't wait to see what happens next week. We know from the clip that the end of the last episode starts roughly at the beginning of CA:TWS. I'm thinking the new episode is going to run concurrent with events from the movie and the following episode will deal with more of the ramifications from the movie. Give people more time to see it and all

Why are we questioning why Cap wasn't sent in to take down Deathlok? The people who would have sent Cap in were the ones in charge of Deathlok! Did you guys miss last week's episode????

he's only one man and with such a large organization there are most certainly higher prioritized missions that would require him before this particular one.

Mostly, though it wouldn't be much of a show if they sent in a super every other week to handle Coulson's chores.

No, I dont think they are the same. Hand seemed to want to control/manipulate operations from the Hub (which is where she tends to hang out), while sending Sitwell to the Triskelion to do something else.

I posted a variation of this list in one of the episode threads, figured I'd adjust it a bit and throw it in here as well just for reference.

As far as known grounded (so excluding helicarriers ;)) SHIELD locations/facilities go, so far we have:
  • The Triskelion
    Location: Washington D.C.
    Episodes Shown In: N/A (films)
  • The Hub
Location: Classified/Unknown (never even seen the outside of it)
Episodes Shown In: 1x7 "The Hub", 1x16 "End of the Beginning"
  • The Fridge
Location: Classified/Unknown (never even seen the outside of it)
Episodes Shown In: 1x3 "The Asset" (pre-credit stinger)
  • The Sandbox
Location: Classified/Unknown (desert region, some of the MCU wikis indicate Africa? - not sure where that info came from)
    Episodes Shown In: 1x6 "FZZT"
  • The Slingshot
Location: Classified/Unknown (also appears to be in a desert region, but something that looks more like the Southwest)
    Episodes Shown In: 1x2 "084"
  • The Academy (at least the Sciences & Technologies division)
Location: Unknown (we know it was a former S.S.R. facility, exterior looks like pretty much any standard college campus, so could be anywhere)
    Episodes Shown In: 1x12 "Seeds"
Does that sound about right to everyone?

Edit: I guess there's also the New York facility that Cap woke up in at the very end of The First Avenger
Edit Edit: And the Tromsø Observatory in Norway that Coulson sends Jane to in Avengers

There's also the (unnamed?) training facility where Peterson was pushing the bulldozer, which is apparently located somewhere in the Mass Effect universe US.

And the Trauma Center in Zurich where they take Skye after she's been shot.

If you include past facilities (presumed to have been shut down), you also have the Guest House, Coventry, and Shangri-La.

As far as the Hub's location, if Hand has rerouted the plane to return to the Hub at the end of the last episode, if you watch the screen behind her, there is a map showing the bus' location. I don't recall exactly what it showed, but IIRC, it seemed to be headed eastward across the Atlantic, perhaps towards Europe?

I brought this up before, but I wonder if they will move this to Netflix if it has to be cancelled on ABC? I don't think they will want to just let this show go especially with what happens in TWS...but the ratings aren't looking too good right now. Having it on Netflix will also free them up to do more in terms of acting talent and mature content. Given SHIELD is abolished, it makes sense for the few left to band with Fury in Europe and track down the remnants of HYDRA Secret Warriors style, but it would be lame to try and get around showing Nick Fury the whole time.

i'm glad that they added Agent Triplett. i hope he's not Hydra-affiliated.

I actually really like Triplett. I hope he becomes a regular next season... Assuming he isn't a traitor/survives.

I think anyone could be a traitor, considering that

Sitwell turned out to be affiliated with Hydra, even though in the comics he's been a long-standing member of SHIELD.

IIRC the previous episode actually beat NCIS in the male 18-34 demographic (and was tied for #1 with another show, I think), so it's probably safe for another year. The showrunners also recently said in an interview that if they don't get a second season, they'll find a way to continue the story.

actually

Sitwell's comic book story involved betrayal, as well. sometimes it was brainwashing. sometimes he was being impersonated by an LMD. sometimes it was him falling in love with Madame Masque.

I thought that was Whitney Frost, before she became Madame Masque.

Apparently ep 19 is called "The Only Light in the Darkness" and ep 20 is "Nothing Personal"

I think including your edits, that's what's been revealed so far.

I guess AoS is going to go to a dark place.

I do wish that

while CA:TWS was being filmed, AoS could have cannibalised those sets or even some footage that could be incorporated into the series like they did with the 60s Batman series and the feature film. Maybe there could have been scenes at the Triskelion or on the Helicarrier.

Of course, with all of that gone now, it allows AoS to be a lower budget show and not ever have to show any of these.

The show is actually doing very well in the ratings all things considered. I'm not going to rehash all the info again but specifically on the male 18-34 (highly prized for older female skewing ABC) demo.. I believe every episode has won the night in that demo, not just this week.

Alexander Pierce was an honest SHIELD agent in the comics as well, and he's the freaking mastermind behind HYDRA's plot in the movie.

I wouldn't be surprised if they use some of the stuff from TWS at some point this season. Maybe play audio of Cap's speech to SHIELD or footage of BW appearing before the Senate.
