I get the feeling you're a glass half empty kind of person :(
no, there are a few variations of Lok. ONE had both sides of his Brain Replaced not just HALF.
I loved the Original that was from the same era as Killraven :D

Oh come on, that design is completely badass and was one of the reasons he was able to have a pretty decent ongoing in the 90s.

I'll keep my fingers crossed that he gets battle damaged down the road, I also wonder if he'll interact with his CPU like he did in the comics.

Yes, I'm the only existing fan of 90s Deathlok lol.

Sure it is cool for the comics, but it doesn't really fit with what the MCU has going. I'd say that Peterson is plenty damaged at this point, 3rd degree burns over half of his boy, amputated leg, and a cybernetic eye, not to mention the Centipede serum that afixed to his arm. I'd also like to throw out there that Deathlok may be associated with the Winter Soldier, as in the group that is controlling Deathlok is probably ultimately going to be the same group that handles Winter Soldier.

Not in full....From the sounds of it the normal looking bionic eye and a bionic leg (as well as that centipede thing on his arm) will be the extent of his alterations (for the moment*) so I don't think he won't look much like the comic Deathlok at all (Collins brain was implanted into another body, which had basically the same messed up zombie like appearance and full blown cybernetic body as the original Luthor manning one. Collins developed the ability to alter his appearance to look like his former human self later on).

*Of course, he might suffer worse injuries than we have seen so far leading to further bodywork and turning him into a full on Deathlok.

Wobby, not necessarily LOOK but the character itself. Michael Peterson resembles the second guy who became Deathlok, Michael Collins.

I was just wondering that as well. Cybernetic arm vs. cybernetic leg... I don't think they'll give Bucky a cybernetic eye, but you never know.

A bit, I just always wanted a proper cinematic adaptation of Deathlok and I get a feeling I'm getting his welfare cousin version.

I don't see how his original look would be opposite to what they're doing in the MCU, hell it's bad guys putting together Deathlok and they may just have wanted him to be more intimidating to look at.

Maybe they'll be cruel and put the cybernetic implant on the good side of his face. :yay:

Also a brilliant, narcissistic corporate CEO and terrorist kingpin who was motivated by a sense of entitlement for all the things he perceived as having been denied to him by those in power, who justified his crimes through a philosophy of social darwinism, and who built his empire and battled his foes using a power source that he did not create but instead took for himself upon discovering it and makes him a physical match for Iron Man without requiring a suit of his own.

In all the ways that the character is defined as a character, he was a completely accurate adaptation of The Mandarin.

There were differences, but they were the same kind of differences between Comics Ra's Al Ghul and Batman Begins Ra's Al Ghul. All surface. The substance remained.

Well ****ing said my friend. Bravo.

Well at least the character is getting exposure in some way. Who knows, maybe he will end up looking very much like in the comics, although that would mean poor Mike has a lot more hurt coming his way.

Who's to say that this hasn't been in the plans all along? I man were talking about Marvel here, the company that has set up a years long storyline with characters. I don't think they've just been winging the show, it's all a part of the plan from the beginning.

But now that these things are starting to come to light people are jumping to "oh they knew they screwed up and now they've fixed it" scenarios. When in reality all signs point to this is how it's been planned all along.

It's still very much the same show they originally pitched; normal shield agents going against superhuman and other world threats. Nothing has changed the show is just progressing as its been planned to.

All this news is fantastic, I can't wait for the rest of this season and the multiple seasons beyond!!

I hope that never happens. The rotting zombie version of Deathlok is one of my least-favorite comic book characters, though my older brothers loved it for some reason. Preferably Mike will be enhanced as we've seen and retain his humanity and intellect.

The upcoming stories sound interesting, but the quality of the writing is the one thing that gives me pause. "Uneven" about sums up the writing thus far. The staff is going to have to kick it into gear and up their game or all the comic book characters in the world won't make a difference.

Just watched Sif/@JaimieAlexander vs. Lorelei fight scene from #AgentsofSHIELD! Really fun.

I thought that one was a lover, not a fighter. :funny:

wait wait wait I just thought of something (not related to tonight's news) BUT what would you all think of the Beserker Staff being used as the Wrecker's crowbar?

TECHNICALLY they both are lovers

I'm not too keen on the rotting zombie either. It always gave me a Toxic Avenger vibe, which is not a good thing. But if they do go that route with him in this show I won't cry about it.

Half of what you said could apply to Lex Luthor.(In fact,Id say Killian made a damn good Luthor) But that doesn't change the fact that he bore virtually none of the trappings of the original character's concept.Any way you slice it,the version we got was "half baked Mandarin."

Ooh, I'm excited! Deathlok and Lorelei showing up. I'm not foo familiar with the characters, but from what I've read, this should be great.

Lest we all start peeing ourselves, the show is still more or less about norms in a superhuman world, and they never said the show wouldn't feature powers or Marvel characters. I'm seeing a fair amount of self-congratulatory back slapping where I suspect none is really deserved.

edit: or what mkilban2 said^^

Sheesh looking rotted does not make you a zombie.
Zombie has too much of the brainless automaton connotation to it.

They might not exploit the dessicated look but I hope they make him fully cyborg, cybernetic arms and all, or at least enhancements all over that make him look the part.

As much as the zombie look would be cool on film... It could also easily come off cheap on tv.... So Im perfectly fine with them playing it safe so far

Could this bit of info been changed to Deathlok and Garrett?

Episode 14 will introduce two recurring characters: an African-American agent who specializes in combat/weapons, and a high-level S.H.I.E.L.D. agent/munitions expert who has past ties to both Coulson and Ward.

I said that most shows take a while to really get going, and what do you know... a plan was there all along. People *****ed because they didn't have Marvel characters. Wrong. People complained that it was lost in the woods. Wrong. Look at how it's all connected and was carefully planned out from day one. Marvel and Whedon wouldn't have sat down and got this going without a plan. Why? BECAUSE IT ALL HAS TO FIT WITH THEIR OVERALL PLANS.

Time for people to stop whining and just enjoy that we get weekly 45 minute episodes of Marvel-based something between movies.
