Alan Wake.

just remember no matter what keep going for head shots with the pistol. its does more damage and you conserve ammo.

Oh boy, Major Nelson tweeted this:

We can confirm that this new “Alan Wake” game will be a fully standalone experience and released on Xbox LIVE.

Not what I was hoping for but one that was pretty more possible than another retail game, oh well I'm looking forward to see what Remedy is doing.

Such a shame... was really looking forward to proper new game.

Yeah me too but I'd say it's a wise decision if you consider the sales for the first game. I'm grateful we're at least getting something new from the series.

Totally. Hope whatever they're planning is a little more substantial than the DLC they put out, though. I only played "The Writer" and it left me a little cold.

I'm on the same boat, I've only played the first DLC and doesn't really make me want to hurry and get the second one but I can understand that they don't want to move the plot forward too much when it comes to DLV, nonetheless I like that it gets more surreal. Now for the XBLA title since it'll be a stand-alone story I bet Remedy will put much effort to it. All I hope is that it turns out good enough for Microsoft to move forward with a sequel.

It doesn't have to be small or somehow "improper". There were rumors a while back the new Alan Wake was going to be an episodic downloadable title, so it could end up being as "big" as the first game, if not bigger.

I'm hoping this is a bridge to the REAL Alan Wake 2. Remedy is doing some XBLA titles to hold us over until the sequel, which COULD be a next Xbox launch title.

Either way: HYYYYYYYYYYPE!!!!!

Yeah, what I'm hoping.

What ADM, the Remedy community manager said on the forums regarding the new game that's coming out for XBLA:

We'll have an official announcement up in a moment but let me clarify that you guys shouldn't feel disheartened that it's coming to XBLA.

It's structured like a full release complete with a pretty damn impressive storyline that expands the originals in some interesting ways.

I really enjoyed it so I'm sure you all will too!

Gameinformer will release the first screenshot of the game on Monday.

I'm really looking forward to this, I loved Alan Wake but I really did not like the dlc at all. The whole floaty word thing was kinda interesting the first time you saw it but it got stupid after that. Some of the best games of this generation come from the xbla so that does not worry me at all.

Eh, I'm not entirely sure if I buy this being a full release title or not, otherwise I don't really see why they wouldn't just release in on disc instead of XBLA. I'll keep my eye on it, though, but I'd prefer an Alan Wake 2.

Excellent.

I stop by this thread every couple of weeks to see if there is any new Wake news and to find all this activity and talk is a wonderful thing ...

Anything new is good ... it means the title isn't dead and they haven't let the poor sales win. Cannot wait to see whats coming.

My many copies of Alan Wake have actually been sold? I have no idea.

Worldwide I think it's over 1 million copies, 1.06 million according to this site. It's not bad but considering the long development I bet they have to be a bit underwhelmed by that.

That number is bad considering the game budget and the marketing costs for MS. The problem is that they release AW at the same day as the freaking Red Dead Redemption.

Yeah Im sure it would have sold better if they released it during the summer drought, around July could have worked.

First pic of the XBLA game.

Interesting, the shift to digital for the next game in the series isn't really noticeable.
Looking at the wardrobe change and at the drill which will make a different albeit familiar gameplay perhaps it's set in an alternate universe, premature speculation I know. Can't wait for the full reveal of the game.
