Well said and right on the money. But hey, who needs to think when you can let other people do it for you.

Pretty much sums up our society's mentality nowadays, doesn't it? I for one intend to enjoy the hell out of myself this Friday night at a glorious IMAX theater with 4 close friends. AFTER I see the movie is when I'll decide if I agree with any "critics" or not.

Can't wait!

I don't listen to critics per se. I listen to the Schmoes/Collider, Jahns and Stuckmann. First two don't exactly count themselves as critics.

Did you watch Jahns and Stuckmann's videos ? Compare what they say to what posters on here who have seen the movie say. One group is not being honest. Is it the group of fans who watch movies for entertainment and joy, or the "critics" who get paid to nitpick ? You decide. :oldrazz:

So a review on Forbes by Scott Mendelson blasts BvS, but the comments section are blasting his review. The commenters who saw the movie are all saying he is flat wrong and it was awesome. How can there be such a huge divide on this stinking movie. jeez. i just dont get it.

Craziness everywhere.

Well hopefully this'll become more apparent with the advent of a substantially higher audience rating. :gngl: One can damn well hope. A rating that really sticks it to the critics.

It's go time for me. See you guys on the other side. :)

Agreed, first watch it yourself, then read the reviews is the best approach.

I think the big deal here is 1. The super low score is totally out of nowhere and 2. A lot of the GA always references RT before knowing what flick to catch.

I am a living example of going to movies I know nothing about and checking the RT score before I go.

So, if there's a movie out that you think I really cool but it has a rating of 35 on RT, you're not going to go see it? Cause if so, you really need to start being your own person.

Did..you watch them? They were not nitpicking.

That's what I've been saying. How can the GA relate to the movie critic? Their job is to basically say "You don't know what to look for, you're stupid so I have to do this for you."

It's an absurd "profession." Why would the audience care about what critics say when they aren't smart enough to look for them anyway? They don't want to bring a pen and pencil to the show and nitpick to death. They want to enjoy it for what it is and have 2 hours of entertainment. That's it.

Critics take themselves way too seriously. That should be insulting to the audience. Even if a critic rates a movie I love 100%, I don't care haha.

It should be noted that some of the negative reviews are from geek reviewers that generally like comic book films and in some cases they even enjoyed Man of Steel.

So it's kind of unfair to write off the negative reviews as being from snobby non fans. The reviews are mixed in every sense. I will say it does look like very few are saying the movie is outright terrible. Most of the "bad reviews" say that it's just an OK movie with a lot of flaws.

please...

don't try to weasel someone into watching something that's clearly not for them.

I do kinda wish reviews came out either day of release or day after.
In the sense that it's a purer theater going experience for the rest of us. I wouldn't be thinking about things like subplot length or pacing necessarily.

But I get that with ticket prices it makes some kind of sense.

Jaeroar is the only critic I want to listen to right now, he's a true blue DC fan like myself and I liked what had to say.

You can avoid that now by just not reading the reviews.

I just like to hear what others thought. With the reviewers I mentioned, especially the Schmoes, they feel like your friend is telling you what they thought. I don't watch them to know how I should feel, I didn't think anyone did. That's ****ing weird. lol

Agree with everything. And the guy who owns RT has it on his twitter profile "I watch movies, so you don't have to". Yeah, thanks...

He isn't a critic. He's a fanboy, there's a difference.

Critics exist because going to a movie costs money. People don't want to waste their hard earned dollars and it's normal human behavior to get an idea of what they're about to walk into beforehand.

They also exist because people like to read others who share their views.

El Maybe LOVED it. Absolutely LOVED it. I am not saying he is a perfect scooper, but he was so passionate about it that it got me excited.

I did. And what they say is the complete opposite of what fans say.

That the fight scenes were awesome. Ben is THE Batman now. The rest of the cast is great except for Jesse's portrayal as Lex. But the pacing and editing is off.

Pretty sure that lines up with a lot of the people here.

Yep.
People don't though. Of course these days if you post on a place like this or are on most social media outlets, it's hard to avoid a nod or reference to how a film is doing. The curiosity gets to you. I was doing great at avoiding review content but once I saw one, I figured I may as well take the temperature if it's going to be this stark.

And those guys aren't "traditional" critics. They didn't go to film school or have degrees in film history or anything like that. They're just some guys that love movies and like to talk about them with other people.

The idea that all movie critics are just people with sticks up their butts that only like foreign language films and hate anything that's popular is wrong. These days a lot of critics are just fans like us that decided to write reviews as hobby and it became a job for them.
