It's obvious at this point that most of the people complaining about critics aren't actually reading the reviews. They're just looking at the RT score and maybe the little blurbs from the full reviews.

Most of the critics reviews lay out exactly what they did and didn't like about the movie. So nobody should be saying "I don't get why critics didn't like it". The critics explain in great detail why they didn't like the movie, that's part of their damn job.

Its time someone learns what it means to be an editor.

So guess what? Staying away and going in with no expectations working... I actually kind of loved it! :)

First thoughts:

Sure, some of the action was big and dumb, it was a tad too long for general audiences and Jesse Eisenberg just didn't do it for me as Lex (though I did love his storyline), but overall I was excited and buzzing the whole way through. I feel that Batman fans might be dissapointed, but as a Superman story it was definitely an improvement on Man of Steel for me. It had a good comic booky feel, but a much much better script (thank you Terrio). The clois was great, some of the fight scenes where fun, Gadot was much better than I expected and although the ending is still where it stumbles most, it did leave me hungry for more. :D

I'll say more when i've had time to digest.

Of course. That goes without saying. Why would people have a poorly researched opinion if they bothered to research it?

About the critics...

The critics are correct. This movie has a ton of flaws. Basically, it would have been three awesome 2 hour movies. Instead, it was cut to shreds into scenes that weren't fully fleshed out. Also, there's a lot of weird comic-booky stuff. That said, it reminded me of Grant Morrison's JLA. He made those stories reflect how these heroes would feel on the Big Screen. Twenty years later, and I feel like Snyder has taken that task. Back then, Giffen JLI fans hated the Morrison approach as it lacked the humor and character development. Sound familiar?

Basically, RT critics are like YELP critics. They'll give a hipster Sushi joint top stars if it has wonderful plating, great service, byob, a line outside, and great ambiance. Doesn't matter that it only serves rolls, which are covered w/ teriyaki, saracha-infused glaze, and sterile Wasabi being eaten w/ some Costco wine. This film is the Japanese bar that's 20 miles away near the airport, and they serve grated Wasabi that burns your nose, has fish liver pate on the menu, smells like soy sauce, and charges you 8 bucks for a bottle of Asahi. The hipster joint checks off the criteria of what makes a good restaurant. The bar just serves authentic Japanese food.

BvS is crappy movie if I just cared about a tight coherent story. It's a pretty awesome comic come to life, though.

It's too bad that they didn't just appoint a new director for BvS back in 2013, with Snyder just remaining on as a executive producer.

I'm not trying to start the sack Snyder bandwagon but I think it would have been better to pay it safe with a film like this.

And? This is a logical progression from TDK. Critics have been caught contradicting their own opinions on this, why not let them taste a little blood in the mouth? Give opinion, get opinion on your opinion, and so on.

Given the audiences, bad reviews are not gonna slow this down or kill the DC-verse regardless. The hostile reaction reminds me a bit of the people trying to knock down The Force Awakens. Coming out of premire night saying

You are continually avoiding the question. Please answer this.

If people here are going to say they don't care about the critics, don't read them or even care about their opinions, why do they continually bring them up?

Here is a hint. They do care.

I've read some of what the critics have said. On pacing and being overstuffed, I agree.

However, some straight out troll. Batman being played by an oscar-winner who's looking to cash in? Overstuffed with Oscar winners? Not enough jokes? Just wait for the next Marvel film?

Agree with your last sentence completely. Middle paragraph, you've got the roles reversed.

Awesome comic books are coherent. This sounds more like ULTIMATES 3. or ULTIMATUM/

Problem was after MOS he still had the fan boys so WB thought they would be okay. But even some of the DC fans have turned on this movie, so they wont be saving him this time. Only a billion dollars is going to.

I have just got back from my showing, in all honesty I can yet rate it. I am still processing it, the film was 'weird'.

I do know for sure that overall I liked it but it wasn't as good as Man of Steel.

Oh and my midnight showing was full and anyone who says the film is humourless has no sense of humour there were some great laugh out loud moments mostly from Alfred and occasionally from Perry.

Way I see it, is the movie looked wonderful. It felt like a comic book. Dream sequences, pacing, and editing felt like late-80s and early 90's movies. Somebody needed to reign in the story, though. This was waaaay too ambitious. They kind of succeeded, but at the cost a tight, flowing story.

I think it might be a guilty pleasure film (as in I could kind of see why it got bad reviews) but I just didn't care. It was a great Superman film for me, and a great comic book film in general in a time where comic book films have become way to steeped in reality and don't dare step into the realm of 'kind of ridiculous'... which i'm just now realising is what's been missing!

Watch it - it's an amazing movie, an amazing Superman movie :)

Yes, Batman gets more built up (especially in the beginning, but that's natural, since it's a new Batman).

Another problem is that with Justice League getting ready to start shooting in a few weeks, there's not much that Snyder or Terrio could do to alter or take a good look at their current Screenplay without some kind of delay being involved.

And even if they had time, I don't think Snyder would ever take the opinions of critics and fans to heart.

No, it sounds like Morrison JLA. Go back in time 20 years and you'll see the same criticism. Morrison was too ambitious. Stories were over-stuffed. He threw in weird, unnecessary story elements and dream sequences. Just look at Rock of Ages.

I am honestly shocked by this reaction. I am waiting for the "gotcha" post. :O

It's definitely Superman's movie, that's for sure. I read a review saying he was barely in it which is nonsense and for me he had plenty of dialogue.

Yeah, I loved what this did for Superman.

I only mention critics as a reference point. "Here's a group that people use to justify liking or disliking a movie."
The average rating was very low.
I think that's absolutely dumb. Frustratingly dumb.

Interesting, because most of what I have heard is they tried to make it too "reality" based.
