Well that's what happens when you delay a film for a whole year...

Just finished watching the dark knight rises after not watching it for ages.
While it does have problems, mostly just to do with the action side. I'm in tears! I forgot how good it was.

The middle sags, but the beginning and ending segments are excellent.

The most emotional Batman film by far, IMO.

That whole TDK trilogy is a ****ing masterpiece. The richest, most complete trilogy of films of all-time imo. I actually just watched BB last night, and I miss Christian Bale. :csad:

He brought this quality to Bruce that no one else has. He always had that look in his eyes. I don't know how to explain it but it just works.

I felt really moved after seeing it in theaters the first time. A proper conclusion to a three arc story spanning the better part of a decade.

Something you probably won't see in a blockbuster series for a long time.

Nolan had some balls to stick to his vision as I'm sure WB would have given him money for 5 other sequels following if they had their way.

It's true. The cinematic universe model definitely can yield some uniquely satisfying results with its long form storytelling format as Civil War has shown, but the great trilogies like the original Star Wars, TDKT, BTTF etc...they still create these immersive worlds that have weight and scope to them. You don't need 12 films to still feel deeply invested in the characters. There's a certain purity of storytelling with 3 films that tell a beginning, middle and end and you can create interesting relationships between the movies without things getting too convoluted.

I think what Marvel has done is super impressive, but sometimes I wish that every studio wasn't trying to copy them.

TBH I find them dated and a bore. Batman is so dilute in those movies and the plot holes are so incredibly ridiculous. TDK is the best but it has nothing to do with Batman i.e. the trilogy only shines when Batman isn't the focus.

Come on dude. I've finally got someone who view things the way I do like BVS now you do this to me.
The Dark Knight Trilogy is the greatest trilogy of all. It makes it a more real Batman. It completely gets Batman and his world and Batman Begins is his origin and TDK is his city's reaction to the Batman and his status as hero at the end of BB and Rises is the conclusion to that series Bruce Waynes story. Perfect.
A more plausible Batman if you will.
