BHH what did.that link have to say?

The exact article, basically he's "heard" something but Jett been Jett has to throw his own biases in.

One of the main topics discussed on the latest BATMAN ON FILM PODCAST was Warner Bros. inking Matt Reeves as the director of THE BATMAN. And if you’ve been following this story on BOF, you know that Reeves actually walked away from negotiations with the studio before ultimately agreeing to take the gig.

So, why did he walk and what caused the change of heart?

Was it over money as has been reported? Or was it something, else?

According to Mario-Francisco Robles (former lead editor at LATINO-REVIEW.COM) over at SPLASHREPORT.COM, Reeves didn’t break off talks solely due to money; it was way more about the creative control he would have on THE BATMAN. Per the report, Warner Bros. capitulated to Reeves’ demand to be able to make HIS Batman movie and not be simply a hired gun to someone else’s film.

If this is how it went down – and I don’t have any reason to believe otherwise based on what I’ve been hearing – then props to Matt Reeves for sticking to his guns. And you know what? Warner Bros. should be congratulated for doing the right thing!

Let this guy make the best Batman film he can. If that means throwing out the previous Johns/Affleck/Terrio script, then so be it. If that means there are little or no references to the great DCEU, that’s more than fine.

And I think that’s the approach that WB figured out (or maybe remembers?) works best.

If you’ve been following what I’ve saying on BOF (be it on the website, the BOF Facebook Page, or on the BOF Podcast), I’ve been saying and hinting that going forward, Warner Bros. will be allowing filmmakers not only to make the DC film that want to make, but also without having to account for what’s going on in other DC films helmed by different directors. The first DCEU film made under this “new” approach will be James Wan’s AQUAMAN in 2018 (word on the street has it that Wan would only do the film if was given significant creative control).

Is that supposed to be news?

That the director of a film wanted some creative control over a film?

After the "SS 17 cuts availale" debacle, it's nice to know that Reeves will have freedom. Assuming the report is true, of course.

He better have freedom! WB needs to get out of their artists way AMD especially need to stop butchering their work.

OK back on topic, what are u guys talking about? Good news or bad news!?

Notice that Geoff is the one mostly involved in making sure that the universe is connected not WB. He's been to meetings with The Rock before the Black Adam update and James Wan right before production started on Aquaman. I've no doubt that he was at the meetings with both Reeves and Mel.

These directors are having as much freedom as they can be afforded on these projects while still maintaining a connected world. I expect the continuity to be a bit more rigid than the X-Men universe, but no where near as interdependent as the MCU films are on one another.

I just wrote this article. I have my sources. Any journos that want to copy this and take full credit with for this fuego scoop are free to do so.

It's interesting to note that Chris Mackay pitched a Nightwing story to WB, and might be hired, and WB reached out to Reeves and Gibson first, before the scripts are written (Reeves might make his own story based on these reports), whereas for the Flash and GLC we got writers first instead.

Seems more autonomy for BCU so far

Flash and GLC are going to be expensive movies compared to GCS and SS2.

Depending on the cast, that alone can make a huge difference.

Right.

This just sounds like common sense to me.

Yeah, it isn't like this is some big achievement WB should be applauded for lol.

"So, you're not going to sabotage your own studio? Congrats" :loco:

The only valid criticism here is the e-mail scene. Lack of character development ? False. Lack of respect and faithfulness to the source material ? Can you be more wrong ?

What exactly was Superman's arc? What did he do? What did he learn about himself? Or the world? Or about those around him? He was useless in the movie. Lois? Eisenberg remained absolutely unchanged as well. No arc, just spouting out religious quotes for teh deepness. Batman had an arc, but it was horrible and completely abused the character of the Dark Knight, so it's a lose/lose for the argument. But no, the hate is because it isn't chock full of jokes. Right.

That face when a fun, childish movie (those things DC hates?) that runs for a little over 90 minutes has much deeper pathos and character development for no less than 4 characters, than a movie that runs for 3 hours has for even one.

No, he is right on all three points. Especially the latter two.

His story took MOS one step further. In his origin, he learned to do the right thing even when some humans were suspect of him as an outsider. In BvS, he learned to be true and consistent, even when the masses reviled him, and some powerful humans were trying to kill him. All of BvS's grim darkness couldn't extinguish the brightness of his unbreakable morality.

I honestly believe that Nightwing, Cyborg and The Flash (Barry instead of Wally) will lead to us getting a Titans movie in the foreseeable future. They are in the same age group and we've heard of a Cyborg/Flash friendship developing in JL. Throw in Starfire (or Batgirl?) and Raven and there you go. My hope is that we get Beast Boy, Blue Beetle, Terra...etc in sequels.

Doing that also frees up some room on the Justice League roster that can be filled with the likes of Green Lantern, Shazam, Mera, Hawkgirl or Martian Manhunter. The first two have movies currently in development and the third is already being introduced. The last two are fan favorites.

He moped around for a whole movie. That's pretty much his story in a nutshell.

He was disappointed in the cynicism and nihilism he saw and heard, but he showed humanity an altruistic way in the end. They saw his authenticity and honored it. What's not to love about something so reverent to the Superman character?

I loved that scene where the court blew up, and he gave a look quite reminiscent of ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

What if Shazam :hmm ...became a Teen Titan?
