A little disappointed Shazam is gonna be next after Aquaman. Seems like there are so many hotter properties with more potential, IMHO.

I can't think of any version of the character that is.

Okay, thanks. I'm not sure if The Hollywood Reporter got the facts wrong in their haste to get the story out (they probably did, given some typos and the use of the world "crippled" in this day of age) or if that was an aspect of the character I was unaware of. Or perhaps in this version, they're going to make him disabled. I guess that could work but it would feel kinda cliche and Avatar-ish.

Billy Batson isn't, but the kid from Superior is.

Clichés in Hollywood? never

I disagree. Captain MarvelShazam is the boyscout the DCEU needs. The one Superman has not been and can no longer be with the League formed.

More importantly, a-kid-turning-into-an-adult-superhero is an idea that sells itself and is fresh in the same way AQUAMAN and WONDER WOMAN are fresh.

Does Shazam being at New Line actually mean it's a DCEU film? We've heard mixed reports over the years about this property and whether it connects to the DCEU.

I mean, The Rock and Cavill had a meeting together, so there's a rumor circulating that Black Adam may be involved in MoS2. Otherwise, unless the plan is to include Shazam in future Justice League films (which aren't even a certainty at this point), I'm not sure what else would connect Shazam to the DCEU.

Huh. Is Billy Batson disabled? I don't remember that ever being the case but I haven't actually read much Shazam.

Shame about the Rock apparently not being in it.

Freddy Freeman (sidekick Captain Marvel Jr.) cannot walk without an aid.

Shazam has more classic villains in Dr. Sivana and Mr. Mind. Black Adam may be too deep a dive into the mythology for an introductory film.

In view of the recent news ive revised my DCEU slate
2018-Aquaman
2019-Batman,SS2,Shazam
2020-Flash,WW2,Batgirl,
2021-Nightwing,Green lantern corps,Aquaman2,Sirens
2022-Justice League2,Man of steel 2,SS3,Shazam2

Not suprised Shazam was fasttracked. Most likely due to Spiderman homecomings Success.Shazam will be DCs own high school hero.

I think if Superman has a positive reception in JL i can see him swapping spots with Green lantern.

Seems to be Shazam will be before the Batman and SS2. They're saying it's the next one to shoot.

True.I didnt write the films in order of their release dates in the year

The more I watch Blood Drive, the more I can get behind Alan Ritchson as Shazam. They'll probably go with a bigger name, but the guy certainly has the right look and can play the "good-natured dope" type really well. Plus, he's built like a f***ing tank.

I'd prefer him over Hammer, that's for sure. Hammer is okay but I'd be kind of "meh" if he was announced as Shazam.

Channing Tatum would be really good though. Wasn't he rumored for a DC role at some point after the whole Gambit thing fell through?

I'm down for Channing Tatum as Shazam.

Derek Theler would've been awesome, but he's already attached to a number of shows and projects.

My thoughts exactly.

Tatum is still claiming Gambit will happen.

I personally think the entire premise and character is corny and have less than zero interest in it... But, I think it has a ton of potential to be a huge hit, it can be a lighthearted family movie for kids with humor and wish fulfillment of seeing a kid become a larger than life superhero. Not interesting to me, but it's the type of movie that works for large audiences.

Shazam is a great opportunity for DC. A teenage centric story with magic and gods is a great combination. Especially when Harry Potter is so huge worldwide.

I hope it's legit because 1) I want to see that movie and 2) I want to see the reactions.
