The reality is, whether fans like it or not, Berlanti's shows are popular and have been praised.

I have my own issues with each of the shows, but I'm certainly not gonna argue they're doing a bad job or struggling with the characters and mythology overall.

I certainly wouldn't argue that the movie side is handling things better than the tv side.

Kevin Tsujihara deserves credit for wanting to make more non-Batman/Superman DC films at Warners. He greenlit Wonder Woman, Aquaman and Shazam, for one. Jeff Robinov would've never have done that.

We can trash most of the DC films all day till the cows come home, but WW's success is enabling them to exploit their DC properties more fully.

This year will be Warner Bros' second best year ever domestically and their best OS ever. While there has been disasters and flops, it's been a good year overall

That is true. I also think that a lot of the problems with the TV shows stem from being forced to draw out storylines much more than they’d have to in a film. Additionally, Berlanti would presumably have better actors to work with and better costumes, effects, etc. so maybe he’d do a great job with a DC film. There is nowhere to go but up, right?

I'm more excited for nightwing casting news. Unless they're gonna stick Martian Manhunter in WW2.

I'm curious to see when that film (and Batgirl) comes out. Surely they won't release them until Batman has had his solo?

Outside of WW2, I'm probably most hyped about JLD.

Considering JLs box office...I'd say the majority of the audience is with the critics.

Can people who didn't see the film be considered part of that film's audience, and entitled to judge said film along with said critics?

Yes, internet, you’ve figured it out. It’s all a big conspiracy against the DCEU.

Are the Rotten Tomatoes critics out of touch with the Rotten Tomatoes audience or is the audience out of touch with the critics?

What are Rotten Tomatoes critics? Rotten Tomatoes is a review collector. They don't have any reviewers on their payroll. And why do the critics need to be in touch with a bunch of trolls, idiots and bots?

The critics that Rotten Tomatoes chooses to use to calculate their percentages. People like Linda Cook of the Quad City Times, Damien Straker of Impulse Times, Margot Harrison of Seven Days, Sean Burns of Spliced Personality.
You know, big names in the industry. The modern day equivalents of Gene Siskel and Roger Ebert.

Unlike the bots and trolls that gave the Orville an audience score 93% and wrote things like:
"The Orville is the true successor to old Star Trek episodes. It has the humor and the awkwardness, the dorky ideas and a sence of adventure. It may not be "modern" television but it has a soul I missed for years in tv shows. My personal show of the year."
"As someone who loved Star Trek: The Next Generation, this TV show feels just as smart and entertaining. It doesn't have over the top action and dark themes like many sci-fi television currently being produced."
"I wasn't that sure about this show. But it has grown on me. Some original ideas, mostly just funny ones and a non-trekie approach to space with irreverent comments that folks can simply get behind. Some things work, some don't.
But it is fun and I am beginning to like the characters."

Critic are only human beings with opinions like anyone else. Just because they are paid for their opinion does not mean that their opinion is anymore valid than yours or mine. People who think critics are somehow more educated to say whether a movie is good or not need to realise this.

They saw BvS. That was all they needed to see to be able to judge the probable quality of its sequel, and then stay away.

You don't know that for sure, and an audience member would have to have been living under a rock to not know that Joss Whedon contributed to redoing the movie and all of the efforts to make the movie different. Not to mention I have a hard time believing those determined to stay away would have maintained that stance had the movie actually been good and gotten good reviews. I mean, Wonder Woman was approached with some hesitancy at first until the positive buzz built. I think that had JL been good, then BvS wouldn't have had the same level of impact you're describing. Thus, ultimately what hurt JL most was JL.

The average audience member does not following the making of a movie. Go out and ask 10 random strangers if they knew of JW adding to it and they would probably be like "who? and huh?"

Those who felt betrayed by BvS would be hesitant to watch JL and sure if reviews were actually positive I think it would've done fine but it didn't and thus no one cared to go watch.

JL didn't do JL any favors but we saw how repulsed audiences were with BvS.

JL's high audience score is pretty puzzling, considering there are people on both sides who hated it, including DCEU fans who are mad that Whedon "butchered" Snyder's masterpiece.

TLJ seems like another Superman Returns, where it's not necessarily a bad movie and critics enjoyed it, but it flew in the face of what the fans of those franchises wanted at the time(which in Superman's case was a post crisis adaptation rather than a Donner sequel plus a villain that Superman can punch).

I put TLJ in the Hobbit , Batman Returns, Superman Returns, and MOS category of well made but divisive films among the fanbases.

TLJ is doing better with general audiences than Superman Returns, which got a pretty bad CinemaScore rating for a blockbuster. As I said in another thread, TLJ is more like an IM3 situation - Generally embraced by critics and audiences, but there's a decent sized portion of the devoted fanbase who are downright offended by it.

Bolded part means BvS is really bad. You know, legs.

General audience doesn't know who Simple Zack or Funny Whedon are.
