For the All Things Superman Thread:

WAIT!! I may be wrong. I do NOT now think it will be a shield. Heck, it might not even be a NAME. The second bracket has a "u" notch above it. Use the below image for reference:

I do think it's a Nokia launch trailer, but for those of us who have the knowledge of "The Kryptonian Thread" (hint, hint. :cwink:) we may be able to translate the text as it becomes revealed.

Can't post until Monday, which is why I'm messaging you, Godfrey, so I really appreciate it.

The Master of Fate is coming.

Thanks PowerCosmic!
Kinda sucks - not to bring down Superman - but if he were to land on any other planet without a yellow sun, he'd be just a plain old "human" with no powers at all.

Depressed now...

But that's it's like in the comics. He's powered by the yellow sun.

June 12 will be a big day for the Man of Steel cast.

That is the date that Spike TV's Guys' Choice Awards airs, and Superman fans will get to watch stars Henry Cavill, Amy Adams and Russell Crowe, along with director Zack Snyder, accept the "Most Manticipated" award in honor of the action figure's 75th anniversary.

[...]

The show, which is being taped on June 8 at Sony Pictures Studios in Culver City, Calif., will air on June 12 at 9 p.m. (ET).

Guys, what if the countdown is for tickets becoming available for early viral screenings? I guy can dream...

I would assume it has something to do with the fact that a red star puts out less energy, heat & radiation than a yellow star. A blue or white star puts out far more. Maybe if Superman were near a blue/white star his powers would be amplified greatly.

Maybe its part of the "God-like" religeous reference in Superman lore: the closer you are to the light & enlightenment...

Sounds like Jor-El doesn't mention why/how the yellow sun of Earth would trigger his powers, or that he is a superior "Christ-like" figure to other Kryptonians.

Just a question, for those of you who have been to IMAX in the past, where are the best seats (for 3D too)? I went to see ASM when it came out and sat the back, but I don't plan on getting Premiere seats for this unless its really worth it?

Exactly, except for some older origins, where his powers were consequence of Krypton's high gravity and, of course, the yellow sun.

Supposedly, Earth's lower gravity and atmosphere is also part of where he gets his powers in MOS, so it is more like those older comics.

Furthest row back and center are always where the best seats are for IMAX.

I prefer 2-3 rows down from the very back row. That's the sweet spot IMHO. Once you get to the back row, you're a little bit too far from the screen for the full immersion effect. Once you get closer than the back 3 rows, you're a bit too close for comfort.

hey DaJanksta, if you're still here, does Clark wear the KU Jayhawks shirt in the movie that we've seen in the trailers and pics?

does the movie ever say if Clark is a KU student/grad?? or else a big KU Jayhawks fan??

Can't we all get along.....
.....is someone playing Rains of Castamere????
....Ashley run.....

And what is this, this Man of Steel
That I must now review

The acting's ok, the plot's so-so
It copies B movies too

I had high hopes, I must admit
Excited when I arrived

But it's not true to the source, and so of course
It gets a 3.5

And so she spoke, and so she spoke
This critic Ms. Nemer
But now the flames burn o'er her blog
And no one willing to hear

Yes, now the flames burn o'er her blog
And no one wants to hear

Based on a couple of cryptic tweets by Devin Faraci, he won't/doesn't like MOS very much (not that it matters of course). It's probably the spoiler. Here are the contents of tweets:

Devin Faraci ‏@devincf 1h When a movie is embargoed and you only hear positive things it isn't always b/c it's good, it's b/c studios won't crack down on positivity.

Devin Faraci ‏@devincf 1h
i.e., the negative responses are waiting for the embargo to lift. And there could be many.

Someone asked him if this is what happened to IM3 and he simply replied with: IM3 is a great movie. Implying that MOS is not.

Hah, who wants to bet Devin still gives MOS a positive score? He raged on TDK for weeks and IIRC he still gave it an 8/10. :oldrazz:

I have no idea what his problem is I just hope he didn't hear of several bad reviews waiting for the embargo to lift.

...oh no...

Please son't be true, please!

...then again, we've had people here talking about it in a positive way, so maybe he's being snobish.
