I've been lurking around here for a few months and I have to say it's been a lot of fun... Minus the past couple of days but whatever. I am SO READY to see Superman on the silver screen again. I haven't been this pumped for a film since TDK, probably more so. I'll be at the midnight screening in a real IMAX theater tonight, sporting the S under a shirt and tie. Gotta represent!

Question I haven't thought to ask yet. What exactly is the Black Zero beam? And what exactly causes the destruction of Krypton?

Gravity Beam? Used to lay waste to Earth buildings and stuff so Zod can start again from scratch?

Over thousands of years Kryptonians Strip Mined Kryptonian land until it became a barren wasteland and only the city of Kandor remained. This made Krypton's core unstable and lead to it blowing up. (Jor-El and Lara's house is on a mountain top just outside Kandor)

I've been a depressed wreck today. Thank god everyone on here saying seeing the film is the cure. It's just I don't know how I'm gonna survive two weeks of this (opens here on the 27th).

Looking forward to hearing what you think.

I've have to wait til Saturday :csad:
I'll post my thoughts about it right after, but i'll hold off rating it because i'm sure i'll still be on a high ( or low lol )
I'll be seeing it again at midnite and I should have a better idea after my second viewing of its score..
I will definitely tell ya if I liked it or not after the first viewing tho.

i`m just waiting to hear zack snyder say he could have done some parts differently.

Great news about the opening in the Philippines! I take it most people here have the advance Walmart tickets? I think the board could change its negative nancy mood after forum members start coming on after their viewings :)

yea i guess. But there are already some forum members who saw it and even they complain about stuff...

my batteries are low.....i need to see this movie.

The only worry I have with MoS is that Snyder and Goyer don't really seem like people who learn from mistakes. So MoS2 could just be about just trying again and hope for the best.

Also nice to see that WB has screwed the UK over with Midnight screenings again! For 'Murica

I feel your pain, man. I also have to wait another full week until I see it.
I tide myself over until then with the last of us ps3 game. My store has it already and I will pick it up in an hour or so. Still... the wait for MOS is hard. Last year with TDKR I drove to another country to see it early, but MOS releases in my neighboring countries also next week, so thats not going to work this time.

Welcome to the boards, I like your style! :supes:

Yeah this is my main concern. I would love both Snyder and Goyer to come back for the sequel, but they have to be able to take onboard all the criticism this movie is getting, and actually learn from it. They are very talented people, but if they want their work to be great they've got to allow themselves to grow, and not keep making the same mistakes.

Zack Snyder's work has constantly been berated and it's always for the same things. Incredible visuals and fight sequences aren't enough to make a great movie. I remember a quote from Snyder like a year ago where he was constantly talking to Nolan about all these great moments he was coming up with for the film, and Nolan told him don't do it if it's just to look awesome, everything has to have meaning.

David Goyer is responsible for some godawful scripts, and he still writes the same problematic material. Good directors (Nolan, Snyder) can bring alot to make it work and come across great, but they can only go so far. It sounds like another run at the script by Jonathan Nolan could have helped this film alot.

Y'know what really pisses me off. I don't know if it's because even within WB comics are looked upon as crass. But DC has some extremely talented writers working for them. Seriously, who knows Superman better than Grant Morrison and Mark Waid. Tell me why the hell they were not allowed to work on the script.

Kevin Smith done a podcast with somebody (may have been Grant Morrison) was definitely on his Fatman on Batman podcast, where this topic was brought up and apparently there is quite a bit of snobbery from big film studios toward comic book writers as film screenwriters.

while they are superman writers thats the thing they wanted a new fresh take you think they would of brought the gritty grounded realism of an alien first encounter and orphan story instead of just a superman film like the comics they are gonna have a certain bias

Welcome to the Hype. It's fun here real disscussion not a bunch of trolls like IMDB. And yes I'm so freaking excited for MOS I may explode.

Yeah, seriously **** everything about this. It's absolute ignorance of what talent they already have employed and the kind of intelligence and material they could really bring to their big $200M productions. This really urks me.

Wasn't there an rumor going around awhile back that Snyder was able to get Warner Bros. to give him more funding since he was able to add more to the final fight sequence between Superman and Zod? Considering that some of the issues that people is that they feel that the last fight drags out too long, that's another thing to consider.

Completely disagree. Comics writers are constantly re-imagining these characters and updating them for todays world. The most important thing is bringing the essential elements of the character over. Trust me, no-one knows what works and what doesn't with the characters than the top talents in the comicbook business. Do you think Waid and Morrison would have allowed for [BLACKOUT]Clark to stand idly by while he's adopted father is killed.[/BLACKOUT]

What members I've only seen one or two who didn't like it. Most of the posters who saw say they loved it. Yes it has flaws like all movies.I just don't get how some can hate it now without having seen it. I will be seeing it hopefully next week and I can't wait.
