During the scene where Superman [BLACKOUT]is standing under the world engine, trying to fly against it's gravity beam, I could've sworn for a split second, Cavill's face turns to Chris Reeve's[/BLACKOUT]. Anyone else notice that?

Any word from Kurosawa? (does he have a blog... or something?)

He posts over at the Comic Book Resources forums if you're interested in his thoughts. Just skimming through them the other day, there are things he doesn't like based on what others have said, but he needs to see the film first to make his informed opinion.

Yep, for like a split second as you said.

*Nods*

Whoa you though Requiem for a Dream was 'fun' to watch. I agree that it very well may be a masterpiece, but it's one I never much want to see again. ;)

But yeah. I think MOS will be fun in the same way TDKR was.

Not so much that it's a fun film to watch...just that the filmmaking on display is fun to watch. It's fun to watch how much in command Aronofsky is with his technique.

Jeezus. I honestly do not think I have ever seen such a split reaction between critcs and GA...

Glad I'm not seeing things LOL! I think I read somewhere that they had a cameo/Easter egg for [BLACKOUT]Chris Reeve[/BLACKOUT] in this movie. Maybe that was it, huh.

I'm not sure if it was intentional, but I guess it was because it really looked like him, wow, it can't be a coincidence, I'm watching it again later, I'll try to see it better.

I thought the cameo was supposed to be this

but I don't remember seeing it in the movie. Maybe I wasn't paying attention.

I don't remember seeing that either but then again, it was shot from a different perspective and the scene was moving a little fast to really look for it. Definitely gonna keep an eye out when I watch MOS again.

Andreth and Lone do you think the film has the 'connective tissue' that reviewers are saying it lacks between the big fight scenes and emotional drama?

You know, after reading those reviews I thought it would, but the fight scenes have emotional drama. I thought the fight scenes were gonna be longer and dominate the film, but no.

That is until the last scene, I didn't like the massive and mindless destruction they caused , they could have easily gone away from the city, half the city should be dead by the end of it, and yet you see a happy Clark riding his bike through the streets and people doing their daily routines as if nothing happened.

I wish they could have putted a '1 year later' text or something after the scenes that followed the Metropolis fight. Maybe it does happen a lot later than we think. In that case I'll shut up :p

This and Jonathan's death are my 2 biggest problems.

"Connective tissue"? I don't speak *****ebag but for me as a Superman fan, the movie has a lot of heart punctuated with punches and explosions. I cared for the characters. I love how they nailed the essence of who he is IMO. I didn't go in expecting *insert favourite Superman story here*. I went in expecting to watch a Superman movie and on that front, it delivered for me.

Oh and by *****ebag, I mean critics.

I'd say a 9.5 for me because I'm still basking in the afterglow. I'm pretty sure I wouldn't rate it any lower than an 8 even after I've had repeated viewings. I feel they could've done more/better in some areas but all in all they did a great job reintroducing Superman to the general public.

SCREW THE CRITICS!

The Philippines loves Man of Steel, new single day record broken!

I have seen it 4 times already. :D

7.5 for me
Nice. I've resigned from thinking this will be 'my Superman film' to just a good film that is flawed. It sounds like all the characters are great though which hopefully leads to a better sequel. It actually relieves my stresses a bit for the sequel really. I really thought this would be a perfect superhero film, now that it won't and we won't get a 'perfect' trilogy, I'm just sort've happy for them to go and do whatever. Brainiac, Lex, Doomsday, whatever.

As for the final act [BLACKOUT]I guess it was an intentional decision by Snyder to keep the fight in the city where they can show the destruction and lives in danger. But it's a shame they didn't show Superman at least saving lives while it all happened or try and take the fight into outer space or whatever. So during the bike sequence there's no rebuilding or anything happening in the background?[/BLACKOUT]

You've often conveyed a certain level of objectivity in your posts, so your opinion holds quite a bit of value for me. I'm glad you liked the film! Hope I do as well.

Wow really? Was it a case that
he just had a look of him or CG face?

His face was being affected by the gravity beam. Kinda like when people put their face in front of a powerful fan and in one split second, maybe it was CG, he looked EXACTLY like Chris Reeve.

I don't think it's a rudimentary problem as much as it is a societal issue, I mean look at superheroes like Iron Man and Batman. Why are they consistently popular? Because they are flawed heroes, and that's perfect for our cynical society, as paradoxical as it sounds.

Superman (as source material) is a reflection of all good that is possible within us, but our mainstream society refuses to accept it because it believes that no one is capable of being that good without ulterior motives. Moreover, you have the superhuman element, which only furthers the ability to relate to him (not that I agree, especially with isolation, outsiders, coming-of-age, and finding a place in an new world are key themes).

not all the people thinks like that but that´s true....
