On what's being talked about right now:
Didn't Snyder do a little bit of work on the script too? Or did I just make that up from thin air? I really enjoyed the movie so honestly I'd rather nobody really be lost that we don't have to lose between MOS and MOS2 talent wise, in front of and behind the camera

Well, we do know that Snyder was responsible, along with Goyer for changing the original ending of Zod getting sucked into the PZ to instead having him killed by Superman.

Actually I liked the stylistic use of the the non-chronological flashbacks because it approximates how human Clark's memories were, looking or flashing back when prompted by something in the present. But the pacing and editing of it took me out of it. I'd have preferred the movie starting with Clark saving the crew from the burning oil rig, with Krypton told as a flashback and Zod introduced only at the transmission to earth - would build up Zod more as a menacing figure in my opinion.
thing is...

they want to show us the born of Kal-el in the beginning of the show.
it's the born of a legend you were witnessing!!!
i don't think there is any other way better than this to start off the movie.

Another reminder to everyone....

DO NOT POST BOOTLEG PICS, GIFS, SCENES, WHATEVER FROM THE MOVIE.

YES, THERE IS A LOT OF TALK ABOUT A SCENE WHERE IT LOOKS LIKE CHRIS REEVE'S FACE HAS MOMENTARILY BEEN MELDED WITH CAVILL'S....TALK ABOUT IT ALL YOU WANT, BUT DO NOT POST A BOOTLEGGED GIF OF IT.

If I rotoscope it, will I still get banned? :/

Agreed and he was also the one responsible for assembling the impressive cast that we had in Man of Steel. I mean, what are the chances that we would have gotten the likes of Henry and Amy in their respective roles if the film had been in the hands of a different director?

And he does know how to direct some great action scenes. Honestly, I don’t think he was so much of a problem for the film like some are pointing out. It’s true that he’s not the best story teller in the world but if he’s given a great script, I think he can do well off of it.

Just have someone help Goyer with the next one and we should be better off. And plus, Snyder seems to at least respect the character, at least better than other directors who have tried to direct a superman film.

I think the use of A-listers is a more Nolan thing, personally.

HOWEVER, I don't think Micheal Shannon would be Zod if Snyder wasn't directing it, nor would we have Antje's Faora steal the spotlight, or possibly Costner as Kent. Henry is also inspired casting by Zack and co.

Is he? He's been the fan favorite for like...ever, I know when I was first exposed to the idea I was just so totally against it[I was also a little **** at the time] but now, god, how did I ever doubt you long time Cavill supporters?

Speaking of the Costner flashbacks, did anyone else find it bizarre that after his death scene, pretty soon there was a flashback of him saving Clark from bullies?

It really deflated the power of his death IMO.

I think another director could have assembled this cast too. Henry has been a favorite for a long time, and I am extremely glad he was chosen, so I suppose I credit Snyder for that. The rest of the cast I didn't really care about as much, so whether they were played by other famous actors or by less famous actors it wouldn't have mattered to me as long as they did a decent job. Storytelling is so important, much more important than the ability to make action scenes look 'awesome'. I think a better director could have done a much better job with this same script. As I've said before, I feel like there is a fantastic movie in MOS that wasn't brought out properly by Snyder. People have commented that the Star Trek scripts suck, but I never noticed and didn't think so because the movies themselves were very entertaining. I can forgive a lot about a movie if it is very entertaining and makes me walk out of the theater happy and wanting to see it again. In the case of MOS, I was entertained, but not nearly enough for me to not notice and let go of its flaws.

Seeing the grave stones deflated the power of the death.

A friend of mine at work saw it the first time and was underwhelmed. He saw it for the second time last night and loved it. Shows what a difference the second viewing makes. Also he said the screening he was at was pretty full.

why would he give MOS a 2nd chance?

Hey, has anyone noticed that Superman is part of the House of El? Well I think Im gonna get a big YES to that, but here's my sudden realization/thought. In Hebrew "el' is a suffix that means "of god/god" So in languages from our planet Superman is from the house of God. Just thought I'd mention that.

Yep, common knowledge. Also, in having a distinct separation in Kryptonian names (ie Kal instead of saying Kal-El, same with Jor-El etc) for MoS, they've shifted from saying 'Son of Jor-El' as it was in SII, to twice saying 'Son of El'... Which I guess literally means 'Son of God'.

If Lex Luthor for MOS II, please god only use Brian Azzarello's Lex Luthor comics as the inspiration. Just as we deserve a Superman done right, we deserve a Lex Luthor done right (no more real estate stupidity).

I could see Snyder and Goyer going for that.

Personally, I think they have to look at Red Son, All-Star Superman and give him the President plot.

I was gonna say Lex Luthor: Man of Steel isn't the only good corporate Lex story. Infact my favourite comics version of Lex is most definitely All Star Superman closely followed by Red. Son.

My favourite version of Lex from live media i.e. Film or TV is the Superman TAS version.

why would he give MOS a 2nd chance?

Well a few reasons he didn't hate it the first time he liked it he was just disapointed it wasn't as good as hed hoped. He also said that he felt the same about Watchmen until he saw it again and loved it. Also whilst he's not as a big a fan as me Superman is his favourite superhero.

I think I'd like to see a Lex of all trades where he's an accomplished business Man, brilliant scientist, savvy and cunning public figure. I want to see a lex that's dangerous and seemingly unbeatable.

i really wanna see Lex begging superman to save his life in MOS2... as a paid back of what he did in SR.

What does SR have to do with anything?
