I can see hypersonics definitely ****ing Superman up for a moment. I wonder if he could use led powder with his smoke bombs, to take care of Superman's x-ray vision.

Snyder being Snyder, there's no way we're not going to get a Superman vs Batman sequence somewhere (most likely when they first meet). If Kryptonite isn't an option, I expect Batman to utilize alot of weaponry on Supes: hypersonics, bombs, etc.

Even though Snyder said he isn't adapting the "Dark Knight Returns" story line, I wouldn't put it past Snyder and Goyer to do something like having Batman literally be a threat to Batman without actually being shown as a villain.

Batman could end up upstaging Superman by winning over public support to his side, more so than Superman has, viewed as the better and more competent/wanted hero, and even ends up stealing Lois's love from him, thus when Superman and Batman meets, Superman gets beaten by Batman, thus Batman giving that dark knight returns speech about how he beat him when no one else could in virtually every way.

Superman would reflect on this, probably take a leave of absence at the end of the film to do some soul searching and he'd probably return for the JL film.

And you know what the scary thing is about all of this? This actually sounds like something goyer and snyder would do.

I never walked out of a Movie before. But I think that would do it. :(

What about Batman electrocuting Superman with an entire cities electrical grid? lol. It would all require 'prep-time' by Batman.

I wonder if Bruce will follow Lexs' xenophobia toward Superman, and take it upon himself to try to take Supes down.

I would do that plus go back to the cashier's office and demand my money in the way that Stewie Griffin did to Brian in Family Guy.lol

I personally hope they don't have Batman jump the gun like that. Ideally, they wouldn't fight at all and have Batman just observe Superman. Because any scenario in which they fight, would completely rely on Superman not knocking him out with one punch. That's why I dislike any Batman vs Superman scenarios, because it requires Superman to be gimped, in order to make Batman look good or even remotely stand a chance.

Whatever plan Batman would manage to hatch with his prep time, would need to work flawlessly and immediately. There should be no couple minutes of fighting, going back and forth. He either renders Superman powerless, or he's a goner. So either get him into a Krypton Chamber, or actually have that Kryptonite Bullet at the ready. Anything else is too contrived, like the entire fight in The Dark Knight Returns. Superman fought freaking Doomsday. But Batman in some armor, with some toys, gives Superman trouble.

I really wanna se Bats reaction to Zod's tv message.

That's how I would do it. Let Batman be an antihero who complicates matters, Metallo as a physical threat, and Lex the mastermind who drives them both.

I'm sure that when the DVD copies for MOS comes out, we'll be having people on youtube making edits where they put together the tv message sequence with the shot of Bruce and Alfred looking at the TV (Joker's Message) from the Dark Knight.lol

Haha. Probably so.

Goyer said the following at the Superman 75th Anniversary Panel, but the reveal was drowned out in the craziness of the day's bigger Hall H panels: “We aren’t sure if the title will be Batman Vs Superman or Superman Vs Batman, but they will face off.” (Snyder did say on Saturday that that the iconic The Dark Knight Returns -- wherein the two fight it out -- will "inform" the film.)

Yep, they're definitely gonna fight.

The thing about Spider-Man 3 is it had 3 PROMINENT villains. But Batman doesn't have to be fleshed out (the audience knows who he he is). Metallo does, because he can serve as a mirror image of Clark and an exploration of the duality between the character. Luthor has to have a motivation and means, but that's the extent of it. We don't need Lex's backstory or him being in more than a couple scenes.

Thus, you have two characters that can be "built up" in the sequel, while allowing MOS2 to be stand-alone.

I just don't get it.
When I was younger I used to come to forums like these to talk about how excited I was about movies and comics and such. There were plenty of films I didn't like(well not that much) and I simply just avoided those sections, mainly cause they didn't excite me. For all those similar minded people, the lurkers for example. You know the ones: "hey guys, I'm a long time lurker and a big fan, I just wanted to join the community and share my...etc" and the young cats, it sucks they have to show up in forums filled with nothing but subjective pessimism imo.

I don't mean to single you out, but I've browsed a few of the threads this morning while I sipped my tea, and it's somewhat unavoidable. Posts such as the ones I've pulled up here. Read them again.
I just don't get the point personally, you're concerned, great share away(I'm def not the boss around here), but why take every opportunity to spread negativity about the film in the entire section dedicated(in theory) to rallying up fans and supporters? Seems like a mission or something.

Again I don't mean to single you out or even discourage you, I'm just curious what the end game is personally or rather the point. Is it to have us all be cautious going forward? Are you doing people a favor and quelling their expectations so that they aren't disappointed? I suppose that would make some kind of sense.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion and to share it, I just don't know why some people approach forums this way. I for one simply spend(a lot of) time on the forums pertaining to films I'm excited about.
I showed up in the TDK section, mentioned how much I loved the sequel, called nolan a bum and mentioned I want uber bats, then, back to the TF threads(films I like). Just seems odd is all. Again, not trying to tell you want to do, I just curious is all.

I'm also not suggesting you or the others stop, I've been enjoying some of my discussions/debates.

That would be pretty dam gnarly. In a world full of heroes, seems like a missed opportunity not to revisit.
Lex' reaction ass well.

When you're emotionally invested in something and it starts to go a different way then yourself and other posters had hoped I think it's more than okay to discuss it. I know for me when we have all these thoughts (good and bad) it's relieving to just throw them out there, so I encourage herolee to keep it up. It can either join like-minded people or spark good discussion. The alternative is just a big circle jerk of everyone loving the idea of Batman/Superman.

This. Reading threads on this forum this morning, it's just perfectly clear...no one's going to be universally happy but everyone's going to complain.

The fanbase doesn't know what the hell they want.

If I'm Goyer and Snyder, I unplug the Internet for two years and just go make the film I want to make. It's a no win situation listening to the fans. It just is.

This is because fans have different tastes of what they like in comics. So even if one makes an adaptation that perfectly suits one groups' idea of a character, another group will complain.

The reason The Avengers is near-uniting among comic fans is because it's reasonably paced, very well-written, well-acted, and EMBRACES its genre.

MOS2 should embrace the genre near the end, while attempting the "real world Superman" approach.

If the CRITICISMS are common and universal, though, I would listen to them. If they are all over the place, then I wouldn't ;)

Exactly, would love if they opened with that.

Thank you. I've just kept my mouth shut but thank you. I get why so many regular users have left this section of the forums.

How the hell does Man of Steel not embrace it's genre? Did people not see the Krypton sequence?

I'm just not understanding this line of thinking about it "not embracing it's genre".

Just because Nolan took a plausible aesthetic approach to his Dark Knight trilogy doesn't negate the fact that those three films have "comic book" written all over them if you've read any Batman comics.

The same can be said for Man of Steel.

I just don't get it.

And enough of this ******** about Avengers was well written. If it was, Steve Rogers and Thor would've been the anchors to that film, not RDJ. For the life of me, how people accept the fact that the two films that directly lead into the Avengers (Thor and Captain America the First Avenger, from a plot and character standpoint) ultimately get the shaft because of RDJ.

I'm looking forward to WF or whatever they're going to call it. But I understand why some are concerned. I also preferred having a solo sequel first but understand WB's reasoning behind this.

I think Superman's character can continue to be developed in a Superman/Batman film. It's the development of Clark as well as his relationship with Lois that I have some worry about being shortchanged.

Still, I'm going to be following every rumor with excitement just like I did MOS.

lol; trust me folks, I'll be back towards being either normal or "neutral" about the thing within a few days from now.

I'm just venting out some frustrations that i have over this thing.

Plus, I'm well aware that a lot of the posters here are capable of making their own decisions without being influenced by pessimistic posters such as myself as they view their own opinions, and rightfully so, as the ones that count in the end.

Oh, I definitely know what I want....or wanted.

I just wanted to originally have a Superman trilogy DC heroes free.

And even with batman in it, I just want this to be treated like MOS 2 (officially) with Batman as a side guest who doesn't ruin Superman's parade or make him look like a joke.

And I sure as hell don't want Bruce and Lois to hook up or be ex-lovers, etc, or have Batman save the day like he normally did in the Justice League show.

I think most fans will be onboard once filming begins. There's nothing to do now but overreact.

This was never going to happen. Blame the box office for the Avengers. When that film hit 207 million dollars on it's opening weekend, it was over for complete trilogies/stories. Over.

Forget WB. Look at what Fox is about to do. They're getting their X-Men universe straighten out only to merge it with the new Fantastic Four universe that's about to be rebooted. Sony is creating it's own Spider-Man universe that will have spin offs and such.

The game is over. Marvel forced EVERYONE'S hand in how the genre will move forward. It has become serialized television. Nolan's Batman was the last one to get to do it the lone way. The last one.

You will now have to follow all of this stuff in order to get clear stories to the characters you love. I think it's the wrong way to go. I'm all for complete trilogies/stories for one specific character but that time is over.

If you want to scream and shout at anyone, head over to Disney and tell them thank you.
