One cameo and two trailers later and I'm still not sold on Gadot as Wonder Woman... maybe I just don't like her as an actress. Oh well.

The trailer itself is nice, though. I love the supporting cast, especially Pine and Davis, and the action looks great.

Assuming that the film being bookend by scenes from the present day, the start of the trailer scenes --Diana walking by the pyramid at the Musée du Louvre and taking out the original glass plate photo slide could be at the end of the film and also at the beginning.

It's likely to be after the event of BvS Superman's death. Possibly Bruce Wayne tracked down the original slide and gave it to Diana (there appear to be a Wayne logo on a piece of paper) as a gift?

We all know Bruce is just trying to get in her pants :oldrazz:

Our friend DanielRPK from Twitter says that the trailer was lame but the movie will be great though. Also that Fantastic Beasts joins the ranks of the Star Wars prequels :(

Also from Boss Logic lmao

Dear movie,

Please. Be. This. Good.

Regards,
Goddamn everyone.

Flove the trailer! Yeah Gal sounds a bit wooden at parts but I love her anyway.

Only thing I would change is half the slow-mo shots, the first bullet/bracelet part was really bad/cheesy because of the slow-mo.

But hey! my wish was answered! I didn't see the stunt doubles face.

Seems wise. The fact that it wasn't directed by Snyder is a big reason why I have hope for this. The more distinct WW is from those other films the better.

And I agree that Ms. Gadot doesn't have to carry the film with an oscar worthy performance. At least I hope she doesn't.

Snyder wrote the story.

One Zack ruling them all!

Nice. And just what I was thinking at one point. Saw one where someone fixed the text to match the three parts of the Triforce on the Zelda series.

I'm trying to interpret this scene

It isnt the first time she will have deflected a bullet in the film so thats probably not why she has the face she has. Is it because she is thinking of sacrificing herself?

Man the Themyscira stuff looks absolutely stunning, real colour in a DCEU movie!

I'm really excited for this and partly because it's really the first self contained DCEU solo movie since MoS. Both BvS and Squad had a lot of characters, subplots and working parts which they struggled to all include. I think a back to basics approach is just what the DCEU needs right now in the leadup to Justice League.

Just tell a really good Diana story, we don't need a billion things linking it to JL or future movies.

I don't think there is anything wooden about Gal's delivery. She just has an accent some people aren't used to hearing. Listen to her speech for the UN. Watch her interviews. That's just the way she talks.

Trailer is great, though I am worried about Gal more then I was before. I will forever be grateful for Zimmer's WW theme. It gets me right in the chest.

Well, I have mixed feelings on that trailer:

Good:

- Looks action-filled, which I always appreciate in a CBM
- Love the music that comes on when they showed the WW shield. Perfect WW theme.
- I liked the little bits shown with Pine. I know some don't like him, but I usually find him entertaining at the very least.
- Love that it's set in the past. Something fairly unique with these DC movies.

Bad:
- Some of the CG looked heavy/obviously fake
- Gadot. Still not sold on her and I'm losing hope that I ever will be. Always the same facial expression and tone of voice. She's not an obnoxiously bad actor, just boring.

Snyder wrote the story.

One Zack ruling them all!

All that tells us is that there'll likely be a moronic twist somewhere and parts of it won't make sense

Not having his dreary visuals will be nice though

Sounds like Gadot is really up against it with a lot of folks

I actually can't believe the comments I'm reading about Gal's "wooden acting"

She was a highlight in BVS, even most of the critics that hated the movie said she (and Affleck)were bright spots
And I thought based on this trailer she looks like she's improved from even then. The opening monologue in the trailer alone sold me tbh. Aside from that, she has such a strong screen presence to me. But to each their own...I guess.

Also confused about the negative comments about the "end of the world" threat. Like really? These are Superhero movies. Far more often than not, they are going to have exactly that. It just needs to be done properly. Sometimes it works, ie. MOS. Other times it doesn't, i.e.. SS.

Loved nearly everything about this trailer. Thought the slow-mo was a bit overused, and the CGI needs work, but need not worry, plenty of time to fix that.

Not loving the composer choice though....I haven't heard his work yet, but the kinds of movies he's done have me worried. I would have loved to see what Clint Mansell or Trent Reznor could have done, just working off her theme alone.

I think it's just because in most of the dialogue scenes they've chosen she's more or less speaking in the same manner. No real variation

I'm sure there'all be more diverse mix in the film

Big difference between being the fun cameo in a movie some were looking for a bright spot in and being the lead in an epic.

I still fear her accent might be a problem in this regard.

This is true, but still can't figure out what about her acting in the trailer looks bad

I love the accent myself, it fits the mythology of the character and I don't find it distracting or hard to understand in the slightest

If Danny Huston is playing Ares, I hope they don't reveal his true form in the trailers.

That's not exactly the best argument to make. Part of being an actor is emoting, her speech being the same exact way she talks in every day life is bad. I love her and I am sure I will be happy with her, but "thats just the way she talks" doesnt make things better.

It's not so much that it's bad. As I said in my comment, it's that it's boring/dull/without "spark." She doesn't come off like a living character with a personality to me. She's just "there" reading her lines in exactly the same tone with exactly the same facial expression, namely the one below, be it in posters/photos or in live action:

Sometimes, she modifies this to look more "GRR" in fight scenes, but that's about it. I'm indifferent to the accent. It's not bothersome, but nor is it a substitute for actual charisma.

Of course, I realize this is just a trailer and maybe there will be more variance in the actual film, but this has been it so far, even in BvS. I would say the WW cameo was a highlight to that film (said so in my review of it and stand by that), but it was because I enjoyed how they worked WW into the movie, had her interact with Bruce, and her action scene. It was because of the writing (yes, some of the writing in BvS was decent), not the acting.

I should also note that I'm not expecting Oscar-caliber in this movie. I'm looking for action-movie charisma and it's not there (yet).

Its a trailer, so honestly it feels a little unfair to judge her. But what hit me was her monotone delivery and that she kind of looks the same outside of the scenes when she is making eyes at Pine.

I like accents. My problem isn't she has an accent. It is just sometimes actors have trouble when being asked to emote in another language then their original. It just sounds off.

The trailer gave me similar vibes to the original Thor, both good and bad.

+The cinematography and art direction looks mostly wonderful and unique.
+The central story and romance looks charming
-Sometimes it looks a little low-budget and dated
-Underwhelming in how little it plays with the source material's more fantastical elements.

But if done right, those positives will outweigh the negatives for me. Thor is my favorite MCU movie after all.
