Most of the criticism I've seen for the movie is that the CGI isn't implemented well, and the third act being a little wonky.

I'm not looking forward to the "Everything is CGI" climax, but everything else sounds great to me.

Eh. We heard the same thing about MOS and BVS and I find those effects phenomenal. Also, it seems pretty clear that the critics aren't thrilled w/ the action-heavy final battle because of that fact that it's an action-heavy final battle. Which is exactly what I expect and want to see out of WW's first solo movie. The majority of CBMs have that same critical complaint.

If WW had not had a heavy action final battle there would have been complaints of it being seen like a female lead could not carry such a finale.

Another consistent criticism I see is of her performance. But there's always room to improve, it's not like she's offensively bad.

You have? I've probably read 40+ reviews and all of them, except for one, say how perfect she is in the role and that she nails it. She's even part of the consensus on RT.

I've been reading reviews left and right, I don't remember which specifically have said so (though I do remember Jahns saying something of the sort in his review).

Again it's not something that worries me too much, as much as I wasn't crazy about her in BvS. Actors get time to grow into these franchise roles.

:lmao:

You need to up your game, fam.

I see we've gotten to the subtle, under-the-radar-jibes-from-randoms portion of the scheduled programming.

That's just not even accurate, she's being praised from at least 90% of reviewers. Therefore, it really shouldn't be worrying you at all, since apparently her performance is quite strong. But see the movie, then decide for yourself. But she's not getting "consistent criticism" by any stretch. To say that is just statistically inaccurate.

We are likely getting visits from Adam Warlock's friend Pip here.

I'm pumped for this movie, bruh. Stop being a crazy person.

Being pumped for a movie and making non-sensical, borderline imagined comments aren't mutually exclusive, homeslice. Fact of the matter is almost nobody has cited her performance as anything less than good, across the board.

What? Even in the negative reviews, they list Gal as a positive

Yeah for the most part it seems good from what I've read as well, I just also remember seeing the opposite fairly consistently when reading the reviews (again, not as much) whenever negatives are mentioned.

You sound like an IMDB poster, man. Chill. I make one little observation and mention it and you get triggered. Let opinions be opinions.

Well I surely hope I dig her performance in this. Perhaps it's just something that stuck out to me more when reading reviews whenever people criticized her performance, as I didn't enjoy it very much in BvS.

Again, still hyped for this. Was just bringing up an observation. Most seem to like her, as you said.

I'm as calm as a Hindu cow - I'm just wondering why you're opinioning with information exactly nobody else here has seen? And trust me, man, the users around these part are like PI's when it comes to this stuff, if there was even a hint of negative comment about her performances our resident Debbie downers would've dissected and lamented it for like 10 pages by now.

I don't think you've got anything to worry about with Gadot's performance, just let facts be facts.

I mean I wish I had marked the ones that mentioned it at this point, but I unfortunately did not (again, Jahns is the only one that comes to mind as his review was a video). And I don't recall any of them saying she's garbage, just meh-ish. But most seemingly liked her a lot.

Like I said above, it could be because I didn't enjoy her performance in BvS that those criticisms stuck out more to me whenever they popped upon the reviews I've been reading.

Sure, that's fair, and I do know some people didn't take to her performance in BvS that much - and in all honesty I haven't seen Jahns' review, but every other review I've seen either enthusiastically praises Gadot or remarks about how wide her range was, and good her interaction with Pine is. Looking at the overall feedback I think she was likely at the very, very least decent.

It's pretty obvious from the trailers. Careless use of digital doubles.

I have no problem with everything else so far.

Yeah and I'm looking forward to it. I just don't like being labeled as a "troll." Ever since Jenkins was announced I've been very much hopeful. And I have way more faith in her to get something out of Gadot than Snyder. She still a newer actress, so when I say her "growing into a role" I more so mean that in a hopeful way than a negative one.

Unfortunately mono-CGI set pieces are a genre standard now, and some villains (Ultron, Doomsday, etc) necessitate that.

Well you're engaging reasonably so I rescind any insinuation that you're a troll.

It seems like Jenkins possibly got Gadot to grow into that role within the span of this film, most reviews say the role of WW is hers now as much as Tony Stark is to RDJ. It might be post-movie hyped up euphoria, but it's a sentiment mirrored by some critics too so it's probably true at least to a degree.

I'm okay with it in team up movies, but for solo movies I'd prefer they tone down the spectacle.

All of the DCEU movies have ended in similar fashion.

Yeah of course I've seen the praise for her in this, I just also remember seeing a lot of praise for her in BvS as well. Though this time it seems a lot more one sided towards the positive, as I recall her reception in BvS being a bit more split.

Just also don't want to keep my hopes up to high, especially as it sits at 94% 7.6/10. The low rating/percentage of BvS actually made me end up liking the movie more than I thought, even though I didn't enjoy it too much overall outside the Batman stuff.

Sure, that's fair. To a degree I think it's one of those "everyone else is doing it", and I also suspect it's one of the things the GA expects. CBMs have become comparable to stuff like the Fast series and Transformers, a lot of expectation is placed on the visual spectacle.

That said I'm kind of in agreement, I'm not huge on the frequency that the third act turns into a super-busy CGI bonanza.
