Fixed.

Come on. I've seen half the people in the Marvel threads. I'm in the Marvel threads. We like all comic book movies if they're good.

lol Easy there.

If the score suddenly drops to rotten right now all of you would change your tune.

Just stopping by to say I loved this film. Having seen the direction of the critical feedback I was expecting it to be well crafted, but I was not expecting to find Gal Gadot nearly so magnetic in the role. The grace and innocence she brings to the role is pitch-perfect and imbues the whole movie with its own individual charm. I think only Superman the Movie stands as direct comparison in that regard.

Movies like TDK may be more cerebral, but I think I enjoyed Wonder Woman more than any superhero movie since Batman Begins. Maybe even Batman, back when I was around eight years old...

Is Batman in Wonder Woman?

Not in person, but Bruce Wayne gets a couple of references. For once I didn't miss the point eared grump.

First off, it couldn't suddenly drop to rotten. That would probably be statistically impossible now.

And second, I certainly don't like movies just because they are fresh or rotten.

I like both Marvel and DC. There will be films from either that I might like or dislike, or bits of certain films.

It's not a case of jumping on the bandwagon just because everyone either likes it or dislikes it, and then changing tune if the opinion sways.

Is there any way WB can pretend that WW is the first movie of the DCEU and that the others don't exist? :o

Since this barely had any connections to the other DCEU movies, they could easily reboot this into a new continuity if we pretend that the other films didn't happen. Maybe we could say that those other films were just the way events were perceived through the insane eyes of Lex Luthor or the embittered eyes of Batman so that everything appeared darker and more hopeless than it actually was.

If it does well in the box office, hopefully they will do exactly that. Or rather, they will give future movies as much leeway as possibly, when given the choice of "being accurate to the story and setting established by prior movies" versus "being more accurate to the theme and style established by Wonder Woman". I mean, there's only so far you can go without hitting "Overt Retcon" territory, but they can at least push things in a better direction. Might not save Superman or Batman and their satellite characters, but it could potentially help the other heroes, from Aquaman on out.

Which would only happen if the movie were terrible. In which case, what exactly is wrong with hating it?

Of *course* people would have a different reaction to the movie if it were crap. Its getting a strong positive response because it *isn't* crap, its quite good.

So happy and relieved to see all the great reviews from critics & fans
F@(k all the people saying (months ago) it's a mess and it's going to be bad blablabla
Get a life instead of spreading fake news

Can't wait to see this (I have to wait 2 more weeks "Holland")

Why does WW have such revealing outfit? This makes it really hard for me to suspend disbelief. If they gave her some cool, warrior-like outfit/armor (like Lady Sif in MCU's Thor), WW could be really badass character, even though my opinion is that Gal Gadot wasn't a good casting choice... But super-short miniskirt, small chestplate, come on... It really takes me out of the story, it's like they are shoving in our faces: "look guys, hot girl, you are going to love this, go see it in a theater!!!"
She has armor on her calfs... cool, but how does it make sense to nut put it also on her thighs ... are her tighs bulletproof, but calfs are not? seriously, wtf. Do women cheering for wonder woman realise how much it undermines the message of strong independent woman... that needs to be almost naked in order to pander to male audiences.
Is she supposed to be role model for little girls? What's the message here? Wear a revealing outfit to please boys?

I actually wouldn't mind her skirt being a bit longer next time. I also think I'd prefer it if the breast plate were more akin to her Themysciran outfit's, as that costume seemed more complimentary to Gadot's natural bust.

Her costume is still great as it is, though.

It does nothing of the sort. Watch the movie before you try to reheat this stale and deeply boring debate.

seems right in line with Greco-Roman warrior attire to me

That uniqueness extended to how the Amazons look, too. “To me, they shouldn’t be dressed in armor like men,” Jenkins says of the women’s battle wear. “It should be different. It should be authentic and real — and appealing to women.” Jenkins and her costume designer, Lindy Hemming (The Dark Knight), crafted a look that showed off the women’s ripped shoulders and toned legs, in outfits that looked practical but that still featured the tropes of the comic book, in particular the braces on their wrists and, yes, even the high heels.

Jenkins defends the impractical footwear. “It’s total wish-fulfillment,” she says, adding that the warriors have flats for heavy fighting. “I, as a woman, want Wonder Woman to be hot as hell, fight badass, and look great at the same time — the same way men want Superman to have huge pecs and an impractically big body. That makes them feel like the hero they want to be. And my hero, in my head, has really long legs.”

How about we let women decide what's empowering and appealing for themselves? Novel approach I know.

Maybe you'd also like Gina Carano or Ronda Rousey as WW too, to give you that "badass" WW you crave? :o

Also the male warriors in Greece and Rome would sometimes wear more revealing garbs even more revealing than the one you consider oh so revealing (that is just standard Greco-Roman warrior attire) they were often barefoot and bare-chested and yes, some parts of the body were heavily armored, while some others left exposed

To be fair that is gladiatorial gear, which was designed to offer an interesting spectacle rather than offer the gladiator maximum protection. A better example would be the Celt or hoplite warriors who fought nude bar maybe a helmet and greaves in the latter case.

Oh yeah. When I was watching the movie and saw her kick all sorts of male a** that's what I thought it was. S&M movie about male pleasure.

WW was made by a male director as a male fantasy with lots of gratuitous T&A shots. :o

The Earth 2 version anyway. :o

Seems like you just discovered who WW was a day ago

I'll be able to know for sure on a rewatch but this might be one of my top ten favorite superhero films of all time.

Finished seeing it an hour ago. It lived up to the hype. It was a little long and I can see some of the complaints people had (the slo mo overload was killing me), but it was so ****ing good. Def a Top 5 comic book movie for me. The No Man's Land scene is up there with the airport scene in Civil War in terms of awesomeness. Going to see it again when I can. Strong 9/10 (maybe 9.5).

By "women", you mean specifically Jenkins and her costume designer? I saw WW with two female friends and they both felt the same as I did.

I know I'm getting on thin ice here, but I don't get this duality of modern feminism - on one hand promoting strenght and independence, on other hand appealing to men by dressing in these revealing outfits.

And I was not talking about amazons, but specifically about wonder woman. 1) amazons seem to live in tropic area, so it's kind of logical to wear such outfits, 2) as someone pointed out, it's not so far from male fashion in ancient Rome and Greece. But if I was WW and came to our world's Brittain of 1918, I would drop that outfit as soon as possible for practical reasons (cold weather, attracting unnecessary attention. etc.)

You realize that before BvS, Wonder Woman was actually pretty much unknown in many parts of the world, right? This might seem like shock to you, but culture in other parts of the world differs significatly from USA.
